Revenge

Chu Li gave the emperor a fist salute. "I'll bid my farewell then."

He turned to leave.

"Chu Li, you killed Gu Yu, didn't you?" Leng Wufeng asked abruptly.

He paused instantly, then turned to look at Leng Wufeng.

"It was you, wasn't it?" Leng Wufeng said, "I won't look into it anymore. Gu Yu was reckless, foolish, and incompetent. He disappointed me."

Chu Li felt a chill. He sighed then denied. "Your Majesty, you're overthinking. There's no grudge between Commander Gu and me, there was just a small misunderstanding. Besides, I wouldn't have killed him if I was really mad at him, I would've just beat him up to vent my anger, he couldn't do anything to me anyway."

"I heard that he had proof that you're colluding with the Holy Church of Light," Leng Wufeng mentioned.

Chu Li was stunned. He did not think that Gu Yu actually told the emperor about this.
