Her World Shatters (6)

Leaving her study, Evelyn made her way back to the bedroom.

"Young Mistress, we are almost done," Butler Chu said to her. In the room were a couple of maids folding her clothes and putting them neatly into the suitcases while Butler Chu oversaw the work.

"I'm done," Mingxi said. Evelyn made her way over to take a look to ensure that the jewelry she had set aside to be packed was packed. She noted the jewelry left behind and nodded, satisfied.

Evelyn put her hand on Mingxi's arm and pulled her into the walk-in closet and closed the door behind them.

"Mingxi," Evelyn took a breath before giving her a brief overview of what happened that morning.

"Oh no! Miss-" Mingxi had began but Evelyn waved her off.

"Thank you. But right now what I need is for you to call my Uncle Wai and make an appointment to see him. Today if possible. Tell him it's urgent." Mingxi had pulled out her phone and quickly typed in Evelyn's instructions.

"I also need you to find me accommodations for tonight. A hotel is fine. Make sure its paid through for the next week. We can find an appropriate apartment for me later." Evelyn continued.

"Call the bank later and have them transfer half the amount from my joint account with Shawn to my personal." Evelyn said.

"If they require my authorization, remind me later after I speak with Uncle Wai." Evelyn said. Mingxi nodded and typed everything in her phone.

"That's it," Evelyn said. Mingxi nodded and walked out of the room, closing the door behind her to begin her tasks. She started with making the call when she got out into the hallway.

Evelyn went back to the racks and did one last sweep, in case any items were left behind that she wanted. Evelyn didn't see anything but she decided to change her clothes. She removed the grey belt from her waist and stepped out of her white dress.

She put on a pair of form fitting black slacks that hugged her curves and picked out a white off shoulder bow top. The material hanging around her shoulders in waves.

She took off her rings, her necklace, and earrings. She didn't need them anymore seeing as they were all given to her from Shawn. Just as she was going to leave she turned back and took the rings, putting them in the pocket of her pants. 'They may come in handy later' she thought.

When Evelyn was done she stepped out of the closet. The maids were finishing with the clothes that were on the bed. Walking back to the closet of shoes she pulled out two more bags.

One was a small carry on and the other a small suitcase. She went through her shoes. She picked out a total of four shoes: a pair eight centimeter black pump, a pair of eight centimeter nude pump with red bottoms, a pair of black flats, and a pair of white sneakers. Evelyn kept them in their boxes before putting them into the suitcase and zipped it up. She quickly pulled off her strappy sandals and replaced them with a pair of classy six centimeter black pumps. Taking the carry on she went to the bathroom that she and Shawn shared.

Evelyn went ahead and began placing her bottle of shampoo, conditioner, and body wash. She could easily replace all of these items today, but they were all new bottles. She didn't want to waste it. She went to the vanity and began packing her hair and face products.

Only checking to tighten the bottles she put them into her bag, uncaring if they weren't organized. When she finished she noticed only a few items were left on the bed. Seeing that she went to grab her purse and retrieved her phone.

She saw that it was about noon and that she had a bunch of messages. She scrolled through them and noticed that many were from her family and Shawn's family congratulating them.

She ignored all of them and paused over a name before clicking it.

Zian Li, one of the people she grew up with and one of her closest friends. He was Jinhai's younger brother. Unlike his brother Zian stayed in touch with her over the years. They still saw each other at their family gatherings.

She looked at the number of large suitcases that she had and realized that she needed a vehicle to get them out of the house.

She hesitated a moment before she pressed call and went into the bathroom to take the call in private.
