Chapter 9 (Part 6)
"I don't know how strong that other guy is, but I would be surprised if Gohan loses," Goku reaffirmed, reassuring the DC members.
'If there is one thing Kakarot and I can agree on, it is that Gohan has one of, if not the greatest, potential,' Vegeta thought to himself before smirking. At least he would get an entertaining battle.
The Summit with the Grand Zeno
Superboy turned and looked at Gohan. They made eye contact as the Grand Priest's staff appeared and glowed, immediately teleporting everyone to an arena.
The Grand Priest tapped his staff twice before another bright light appeared above the arena. A little kid with a strangely shaped head sat on a throne with two guards beside him.
All the gods and angels present immediately bowed. Gohan wasn't too sure what was happening, but he could tell by the clothes and the incredible presence this being gave off.
"Greetings, Grand Zeno!" All the gods and angels spoke. The mortals were stunned. Was this the god that ruled all of reality? He looked like a child.
"Mmm," the childlike voice spoke, agreeing. "What's happening here? Why are you all gathered here?" the kid asked, though they likely knew he already understood everything. "Will there be another awesome Tournament of Power!?" The voice became slightly excited at the idea; his gaze felt like the moment he locked onto you, he knew everything but even then, Gohan could tell he was completely insignificant before the child.
A cold sweat forming, he definitely understood why all the gods were so afraid.
The Grand Priest stood upright. "You understood correctly, your majesty. We will be having a candidate for god of destruction battle the latest god of destruction, Son Gohan. This will be your first time meeting the destroyer," The Grand Priest explained as Zeno turned his attention to Gohan, only to see Goku behind him.
"Hey! Goku!" The Grand Zeno exclaimed excitedly as Goku smiled and waved.
"Hey, Zenny! Long time no see!" Goku greeted cheerfully, although this made Gohan's knees weak, did his father not feel that unfathomable presence?
"Dad!?" Gohan turned and whisper-yelled. "You can't-" He didn't get to finish as the voice of the Omni-King spoke into his ear. A chill ran down Gohan's spine.
"Be quiet," Gohan shut his mouth immediately.
"It's okay, Zenny. This is my son. His name is Gohan!" Goku explained as the eyes of the Omni-King sparkled like a child's.
"You have a child!? Is he strong like you?" The Grand Zeno asked as Goku chuckled before rubbing the back of his head.
"Hehehe," Goku giggled.
"He surpassed me long ago," Goku explained as the sparkles turned to Gohan, who was surprised at the turn of events. He wasn't expecting to be the center of attention, and he had no idea his father knew the Omni-King so personally.
'Wait, I remember now. Beerus and Vegeta mentioned that Dad is really friendly with the Omni-King,' Gohan mused. Well, if the Grand Zeno was fine with his father, then who was he to try and stop them?
The Grand Zeno chuckled out loud. "Mmmm. I like you. I'm glad you understand. Many gods tend to forget this, but you are Goku's son, so I thought I'd test you," the child explained, stunning everyone. What was the Grand Zeno talking about?
The Grand Priest noticed the confusion on Gohan's face before explaining. "The Grand Zeno sees all, including the fabric of reality. One can even say he can read the contents of the world in ways no one can ever truly comprehend."
"Well, I look forward to seeing how you perform!" Zeno called out to Gohan, who bowed. "You too, Superboy!"
Superboy also bowed. He may have had amazing power, but he knew he fell short of the creator of their reality. "Let's make this more interesting! How about this: if Gohan loses, he forfeits his title as Destroyer god of the 21st." This made Gohan's stomach drop.
Clark's grin grew to a downright sinister expression as he glared at Gohan.
Zeno chuckled before snapping his fingers. "Good luck!"
Immediately, everyone who was standing on the arena was seated above the arena. "When both combatants are ready, you can start!" The Grand Priest explained.
Clark turned to Gohan. "I am sorry about this, pal, but I need to step on you to get to where I want to be," Superboy explained as Gohan's eyes narrowed. He had no idea why the Grand Zeno decided on this, but if a battle was what they wanted, that was what they were going to get.
"Big talk from someone who has not been deemed ready to be a destroyer yet," Gohan shot back.
"I may not be a destroyer, but I have more than enough power to handle you!" he roared, charging forward. Gohan raised his hand and caught the punch; the shockwave turned the arena platform to atoms. The Grand Zeno snapped his finger again.
A new arena appeared beneath them instantly with a white tint. "That should make that indestructible," the Grand Zeno explained. "Now use all your power and make flashy explosions!"
"You heard the King!" Superboy roared. A crimson aura burst to life, red plasma dripped off the Kryptonian, whose eyes were glowing red.
"Woah! He looks super cool!" the Omni-King called out, his eyes sparkling as he kicked his feet.
Gohan raised his hand to block the bright glow of Superboy. Immediately, Gohan barely blocked a blow before a kick landed, pushing him back a few meters.
Superboy smirked. "You're stronger than I thought, but just like I thought, you're no match for me!" he announced, charging at Gohan but stopped when he felt Gohan place his hand around his neck.
Superboy backed up immediately, 'When did he?' he thought as he made eye contact with Gohan who was staring at him.
"Don't tell me you can't keep up?" Gohan's voice asked from behind Superboy, who felt a single drop of sweat roll down his temple.
"You are fast, I'll give you that," Superboy started before unleashing even more power.
The gods above were watching. Beerus, Pantharos, and the DC members were watching, although the humans could not catch a single second of the battle.
A few of the destroyer gods watched on stunned. 'This upstart is incredibly powerful! He could surpass me soon if I am not careful. I should train more.'
Gohan and Superboy clashed multiple times in a single instant. Superboy landed a devastating right hook that pushed Gohan back. Superboy continued his assault, trying to inflict as much damage as possible before the destroyer could gain his bearings.
