Well here we go…

Life is a strange thing.

One moment you're sleeping happily at home and the next you're siting in front of a deity. I say a deity and not God because of one simple reason. He told me so. It told me so? The point is the big asshole in front of me apparently kidna…soul napped? Whatever. He stole my soul before it passed on.

Why?… for fun it seems.

" That is incorrect child. Your soul was ferried here because you were a victim of a rather large explosion in your sleep due to one of my worshippers."

I stand corrected this is the devil.

" Incorrect once more child. I merely help souls pass on and find peace. Normally I would allow you to pass on but a colleague of mine requested a soul to help balance one of his earths, so here you are."

Wait what?

" Child you like the concepts of comic books and anime right?"

Yeah that's why I'm not entirely losing it right now.

" Well there's millions upon millions of others like you on Earth. Eventually those peoples beliefs gave birth to actual minor deities like myself and many worlds have been born in the same manner.

Faith is a powerful thing.

Now amongst those worlds is the world of Marvel. It is one of the most extreme planes of existence as it continues giving birth to several universes."

So you're saying the One Above All exists and needs my help, so you stole my soul and plan to send me to Marvel?

" I did not steal your soul and well not exactly. What I needed for him was a soul. I get asked for one every now and then by the guy so I throw him a few. It just so happens with your recent passing I noticed your soul and the tragedy that is your existence."

" It's not my intent to offend you child but a shut in orphan who dies from bomb shrapnel tearing through the wall of his apartment in his sleep….. is if nothing else, tragic."

So you pitied me and are giving me a shot at a new life in Marvel?

" Correct. Well sort of…this opportunity just happens to be available and I do pity you. I even will help you out on account of the whole you got murdered in my name thing and give you a cheat as you would say."

Are you getting less formal as we continue to talk?

" Since you're communicating through thought, it is hard to not fall into your speech patterns. To be honest you're the first soul I converse with in several millennia."

Well what are the cheats then?

" Cheats as you call them are the convergence of a souls luck, potential, and karma. The previous traveler pulled their cheat from the world of my hero academia. It's a world I've designated as the template for travel in to Marvel after some…incidents."

Why would other travelers simply agree to that template? More over I thought you haven't conversed with anyone in millennia, that manga's pretty recent, no?

"My perception of time is a bit different from yours. Even then the souls that usually get ferried to this nexus point are souls receptive to the concept of 'isekai'. When individuals such as that appear before me the process is quick, with little to no explanation needed. I usually just state the rules and they make their wish with out a second thought. Someone as skeptical as you hasn't appeared before me for a very long time."

" It's fine, we're getting off topic though. To answer your main question a cheat itself is usually limited to something feasible in the place of rebirth like being talented in singing, highly intelligent, or anything similar should you be reborn on your Earth. Since you're going to the world of Marvel though the rules of that world allow for the introduction of super natural abilities found in other worlds. Not all but most which is why after doing this for a while I landed on quirks."

As much as I really like a few quirks why not just let me copy abilities from marvel? Or other media?

" Again this is isn't the first time I do this. It's simply a matter of balance. Should you want the powers of a celestial you would end up actually just being a celestial. That would affect the universe the second you are born and I would have to make sure you could be born in the first place. To give you the abilities of a super soldier I would have to make it so when you are born you will immediately be injected with a serum somehow. Making you a mutant is the easiest method for me to grant abilities for travelers like yourself. Mutant abilities resemble quirks so it's easier than using other media, not to mention other media could have some ludicrous abilities."

So if a universe already has the ability you may simply end up stealing the abilities or opportunities directly from their original recipients? So to avoid stealing from them you simply create a mutant body for what you call travelers?

" Correct."

Umm I still don't get it. Wouldn't giving travelers abilities from another world break the balance of the Marvel world? Isn't it easier to just copy existing mutant abilities over creating something like quirks?

" Not really. Quirks can be extremely powerful particularly en masse but I grant travelers only one ability. In terms you can understand, you get one quirk and that's it. No One for All. Just one quirk. The reason I simply don't allow travelers to copy marvel mutant abilities is I may end up giving you the original holders body. It's already happened a few times."

Umm are you sure you're a deity? Also doesn't everyone pick All for One then?

" Naturally I am. It's why I can transfer your soul to other worlds in the first place but I don't have full control after you leave so if the wills of the Marvel universe make their own changes it's not my fault. As for the All for One quirk, the last idiot who picked it cursed me until his death. There's no other quirks to steal in Marvel, its not my fault it's useless."

Sure you're not the devil? Also can't you hide the traveler from the wills or something?

" I'm sure. Anyways, when you have two entities with similar power it's impossible to not notice one another. If I was far more powerful then the one you call the one above all of course I could but that is not the case."

Well ok then. So what quirk can I get?

" Hmmm... I'll make an exception for you and help you create a custom version of your favorite character, Nine."

The guilt of my collateral death is really bugging you huh?

" A little bit. Nonetheless choose nine quirks before I change my mind."

With a woosh I was gone.

After the disappearance of the un named soul a bearded man appeared.

" You gave that boy too many powers! Is this becoming a joke to you! How many more abilities are you planning to give that abomination!"

" Calm yourself. His vessel was large enough and that boy picked an ability that would resolve much of our issues even if he fails."

" What do you mean?"

" The boy has a lot of karma which makes his vessel large. More importantly the ability known as New Order can eliminate other abilities if absorbed. It has a self destruct button more or less."

" Why give him the other abilities then?"

" That boy was unique compared to the other champions we've sent. His vessel could accommodate all those abilities thanks to his large karma. Even then his existence can still maintain balance in any universe we send him too."

" How is that possible? He would be one of the most powerful beings in most of my universes."

" Most of the abilities he chose have restraints or requirements of some kind. In combination they are extremely powerful but the addition of the pointer ability was a wise choice as it gave his abilities a lower maximum, in other words balance."

" Even with a so called lower maximum nine abilities are far too much! How is it in anyway balanced!?"

" The boy is lazy. Not a normal lazy but a completely unwilling to make a move unless absolutely necessary lazy. The boy was a shut in by choice not some tragedy or trauma. Unlike the previous champions he's not someone willing to actively participate or change the timeline of the universe. The abilities he chose were mainly to avoid doing any form of work in his new life."

" How is someone like that going to willingly involve himself in the problem then?"

" Haha have any of your universes ever left any of the previous champions a choice? Just make sure to give that kid some time and hide him away from the more annoying things in your universes."

Seeing his friend off, the Earth deity decided to finish reading the file on the shut in soul. He was a bit impulsive. The reality was that kid was not meant to die for a very long time and his cause of death was due to someone claiming to be his prophet. Considering he undoubtedly knew he didn't endorse terrorism he gave the poor kid the opportunity without reading much of the file.

When he did however he was a bit troubled. Particularly by the information at the end of the page.

A vessel would be influenced by both negative or positive karma. Normally such a negative vessel would never receive any form of blessing no matter how large. Seeing the large vessel and the word shut in on the file he simply assumed it was positive karma. This may be another grave mistake.

The boy kept questioning if he was the devil. Maybe he was on to something. He knew he wasn't the devil but he was certainly played by that old geezer.

Questioning his own foolishness aside, he now had another problem.

Whether or not to warn his friend?

After thinking it over he found it wasn't his problem anymore. As long as the problems didn't bleed into this world, that was good enough.
