Radley sighed in relive after running for god knows how long. In fact, he had already traversed two cliffs. The hunger was starting to get to him, but the rain was still a thing. The tree started to show themselves again, which meant he could at least get himself a dry spot, but he preferred to make it completely out of the rain. He opened the MRE he had opened before. He remembered that there was some sort of bar. He took it out and opened it. It was a protein bar, he broke off a piece and offered it to Blobby who straight up refused it, "Your loss more for me."
The bar offered as a rather suitable meal replacement until he was able to get to a dry area. Radley looked up into the sky and saw that it was getting late. He let Diff set up a path towards a good camp spot. A small cave that went in a slightly upward trajectory. It was relatively cool and dry over there, unfortunately, the wet circumstances didn't exactly allow him to have dry wood, so he would have to make do with the darkness. There was still sufficient light coming in from the entrance to allow him to read the instructions on one of the packets. He opened a translucent bag with a white bar in it and added his main and side dish. Apparently, he needed to wait for twenty off minutes, "Diff, can you approximate time?"
"Negative. User needs to by the function."
Oh, so it could be bought. Great, so all the times he didn't have the time it could have been readily bought it and have time.
He went through the popup menu and bought the Perk called: Telling Time for two Diff points as well as a compass feature for also cost two Diff points. Man, why didn't he study the items he could buy more.
He kept a close eye on the time but that made the time go slower. He decided he would just roll out is improvised sleep bag and make things more comfortable for himself. Afterward, he decided to take a stroll outside and make his way to the treetops. He wanted to get a bit of the lay of the lands. Something caught his eyes that made him worry a bit. Off into the distance, it looked like there was a massive desert. That was going to cause problems. He would need a lot more water if he was going to tackle that nasty blemish.
He sighed and made his way back to the cave. By then the meal was ready. It was surprisingly good. Chilli con Carne, with a side of rice. He wondered what else was in this thing. Coffee! Righteous! The problem was the lack of hot water. It immediately put a damper on his spirits. He looked more and found some crackers, cheese spread, and some chewing gum. He hadn't had chewing gum for who knows how long. He popped one into his mouth. Menthol, man, he hasn't had one for the longest of time. He always did like the taste of menthol. It was usually what he got for himself. Peppermint patties. He loved the stuff. Pity, probably wasn't going to be easy to find it now, and even if he did it was going to cost an arm and a leg.
Blobby smelled the contents of the chili con carne and just shook his head in disgust. Clearly, this animal didn't eat human food, but then again it never did need food due to the fact that it used photosynthesis to produce his energy. Radley even spotted him eating dead leaves for added nutrition.
Blobby came snuggling to his side as Radley gently patted him on the head. He laid his head onto his backpack and drifted right off to sleep.
The next morning Radley stretched and made his way out to be greeted by the morning drizzle. He was going to have to appreciate it due to the fact that it seemed that he was going towards a desert. As soon as he popped his head out of the cave he was greeted by a gargantuan bear with no facial hair, black fur and two massive tusks coming from its snout. Mega Dire bear, Lv.15. Nature aggressive. When the hell did this bastard show up!? It seemed to be sleeping, but Radley was not confident in his skills to sneak past this beast.
How long was he going to stay there? He couldn't risk eating due to the fact that bears tend to have an extremely acute sense of smell. Not to mention the noise. All he could do was wait.
An arrow zinged past and hit the ground in front of him. There was a message connected top it. We will distract, you run! He knew it was the two he met at the river on top of the mountain. Casey and Raelene. He frantically looked around to see if he could see them. He found them hiding in a bush just beyond the bear.
Radley anxiously waved his arms around to get their attention. He shook his head frantically telling them no. He tried making gestures to tell them to leave. Another arrow came flying towards him.
Idiot, these bears are notoriously sleepy. They could stay in one place for weeks. Radley slapped his own forehead after reading the message. Talk about bad luck. Radley looked around to see if he would be able to sneak away. He slowly sneaked away with his gear trying to be as quiet as possible. The problem was his pot that hit a rock. The bear opened his eyes and Radley's heart sank. Shit…
The bear looked at Radley for a second before it roared into his face. Radley gave a smile, and said, "Hi…" with a small wave. Blobby started to charge at the creature as Radley grabbed his tail. He turned around and looked at Radley shaking his head and said to Blobby, "Blobby, no need for heroics. Now we run."
The two set off at a blistering pace as Casey unleased a few arrows into the beast.
