1 Nathan & The Strange Being

Nathan was your typical high school student. He would wake up in the morning, shower then eat breakfast alone, say goodbye to his empty house when he was done and drag his exhausted body to school, before returning home to a still empty house. He would then read books in his room and do his homework, until eating dinner alone. Then he would read some more before going to sleep, and repeating the same thing the next day. Oddly enough, although he read hundreds of books over the duration of his life, he couldn't seem to remember any of their contents, but one.

Okay, so maybe he wasn't your 'typical' high schooler. Nathan never knew his parents, for as long as he could remember he was alone. In elementary school, he had already learned how to take care of himself. He was able to cook, clean, and do things a normal kid his age couldn't, like taxes. He was wired money every month from an anonymous source. It wasn't a lot, just barely enough to pay for his expenses, with only a small amount of extra money left over, which he used to buy books.

He didn't like talking, and at school he didn't have any friends, as he felt he was different from everyone else. He was the only one with a face, all of people he met, all lacked a face yet he had one. He felt like someone should have a face, yet if he asked, the others would just call him weird. So he usually found himself making use of his imagination to create his own friends, and family, all of whom had faces. His imagination was usually fueled by the only book he could remember, and most of the people who appeared were out of the book.

At the start of his life he had many questions, who were his parents, why did they leave him, whos giving him money most importantly he questioned himself why he existed. Yet over time, his questions faded, so to did his expectations of finding out the answers. All he knew how to do was repeat his usual cycle, like some living machine.

Or at least that was the case until one day after dinner when he entered his imagination. He found himself surrounded by darkness, and a voice rang out within his mind.

"My, my, aren't you an interesting one?" Said the voice. Nathan looked around, yet still could only see the empty void. Not to be deterred still believing him to be in his imagination, Nathan spoke out "Who?"

"Kekeke I'm afraid this isn't your little land of dreams, young one. Rather you're dead, and I, the being in charge of reincarnating you." Finding what he viewed as a broken child in teenage skin to be amusing the being cackled.

"I see, wishes?" Nathan asked, with his usual neutral sounding voice.

"Hahahaha" as if hearing the funniest joke in the world, the being laughed for what felt like an eternity before answering Nathan's unusual question with an equally unusual answer. "Nathan my boy I like you, how about this, ill give you anything you wish for, anything at all, go on."

Thinking for a moment, Nathan tried to find the words which best expressed his wish, only for it to come out as such, "Normal…Friends…Imagination?" clearly not used to talking much Nathan found it challenging to say exactly what he wanted.

Yet the voice as if being able to look directly at his thoughts, knew exactly what Nathan was trying to say. "I see, I see, sure thing I can do that. You should know, I don't usually go this far for people, but since your interesting ill do it. Make sure you don't disappoint me."

After hearing his words, Nathan noticed the world of darkness beginning to fade, as he found himself within a land of ice and snow.

(Pov Change)

In a realm of darkness, located in an unknown section of the universe.

The figure of a massive creature could barely be seen slowly moving about.

The creature suddenly released a sigh as an ancient voice sounded out within the world, "Arkalia, why has there been no report from your sector? The higher ups are growing impatient."

Although his face wasn't visible in the darkness, the creature replied in a clearly annoyed tone, "Leave me alone, I'll get it to you soon, I had a rather unique soul pass through the reincarnation process and no one under me was able to judge him so I had to." For some reason, although his tone sounded as if he was annoyed at the start, towards the end there was a hint of pride.

Clearly understanding the character of the beast, the being whom the ancient voice belong to spoke in a hurry, "You didn't do anything strange did you?! Do I need to remind you of the reason you have more lesser god's to assist in the reincarnation process then any of the other Watchers?"

"Because I'm lazy?" Spoke the beast sarcastically, as he created a planet sized, comfy bed and laying down on, knowing it would be a long chat with this annoying fellow.

As expected the nagging continued, "Well yes, but there was also that time you reincarnated a hero of the human race into a dog you know?!"

Remembering that hateful, overly righteous idiot who had dozens of women at his beck and call but died a 30 year old virgin, he felt disgusted. "He was annoying."

"What about that Holy Saint of one of those cultivation worlds that you reincarnated into a prostitute?" Remembering the tragic scene and all of the paperwork he was forced to do because of the incident, the being sighed for hundredth time that day.

"She was stuck up, and valued her chastity to much, I was helping her loosen up some." Once more feeling proud of himself for ridding the world of one more hypocrite, the beast smirked remembering the women's horrified face when she was reincarnated. She had cut off more little brothers then he even bothered to count. Someone needed to get revenge for the little brothers, as she died to peacefully.

"*Cough* L…Loosen?!?" Although the being knew of the creatures personality, even he felt ashamed at the words coming out of his mouth.

"Don't forget I did a good job on that one hairless Rat that…"

"Shh!!! Don't talk about that one!!! You know better then that…that bastard is always watching me, I know it *Shiver*" Just thinking about the normal rat suddenly turned into a cosmic beast, strong enough to fight even a Watcher, caused the being to shudder. He had been toyed with one to many times by that beast, and he didn't want to attract its attention anytime soon.

"Anyways I promise I didn't do anything weird." Spoke the creature once more in an attempt to end this conversation so he could get back to watching the multiverse and what not, its his job after all.

*Sigh* "Fine, although I don't trust you, make sure you get that report to me." After saying his piece the ancient voice faded as silence once more rained over the realm of darkness.

Remembering the interesting boy, who created a world of dreams all to his own, while in a soul state, the beast couldn't help but look towards the planet the boy was just reincarnated to and smile. He began to grow expectant, and hoped the boy would show him something interesting, after all, new things can be quite exciting when you've already seen everything in existence.
