Summons

The alpha wolf was now shivering with fear as it tried to bury its head into the floor. It didn't dare to look up into the eyes of the little owl resting on Orion's shoulder.

"Papa! Eat bad dog!" Luna was pouting when she realized Orion was going to spare the alpha wolf and the others, since she was determined to punish the alpha wolf for hurting Orion.

"Hahaha, don't worry, Luna. They'll be our subordinates in the future. You can boss them around and make them bring you good things to eat." Orion tried to calm her down as he scratched under her beak.

Luna's eyes went wide as she began to understand Orion's words. Orion looked at the quaking wolves and asked, "Isn't that right?" In calm but stern voice. They all nodded vigorously in acceptance.

"System how do I use the contract?" Orion asked as he took out a blank piece of paper that had the texture of an ancient scroll.

[HOST MUST GET A DROP OF BLOOD ON THE CONTRACT FROM A BEAST THAT HAS SUBMITTED TO THE HOST. THEN THE HOST MUST DO THE SAME]

'Easy enough,' Orion thought. He walked up to the alpha wolf and placed his hand onto the cut on the wolf's chest. He then pricked his finger with his teeth and placed both of their blood on the contract.

The contract began to float and shine brightly. It began to disintegrate with half of the bright light going into both Orion and the alpha wolf. He could immediately sense the connection between the two.

Orion could feel the anxiety and fear from the wolf and felt a little guilty. He dropped to a single knee and petted the three meter large wolf. "It's alright, now that we are connected by fate, I will treat you well. Will your injuries heal?"

Orion spoke with a gentle tone that stunned the alpha wolf for a moment. "Y...yes, m..master. None of my vitals were injured." The wolf still spoke with some fear but it was much better than before.

"That's good. Since you'll be a part of our family from now on, I won't eat your fallen friends. Come, let's give them a proper send off." Orion spoke as he stood up.

"Hmm, I guess you'll need a name now. How about, Amon?" Orion asked. The alpha wolf's eyes shinned with excitement when it heard Orion's words. The wolf began to shake his tail as he nodded his head.

Orion began harvesting the cores of the 52 wolves and gathering the carcasses just outside the castle wall. Orion was planning to burn them instead of eating them but Amon spoke up, "master could you let us deal with them?"

Orion paused, he looked back at Amon and asked, "what will you be doing with them?" Amon looked at the dead wolves and said, "we will eat them. When one of our own passes, the pack will eat them so they can continue to travel with us on our journey."

"I see, will you be okay with just you guys?" Orion asked, as he didn't think 11 wolves could eat 52. Amon nodded and said, "this was only half of our pack. The other half stayed behind with the children, as we didn't think master would be a threat."

"HOO!" Luna was angry and flapped her wings at Amon for his comment, but Orion just rubbed her head gently, calming her. "Very well, return to your pack and bring them here. This will be your new home."

Orion turned around and started walking back when Luna spoke into his ear, "papa! Why didn't you punish them?" Orion stayed silent for a moment but he eventually said in a gentle tone, "Sometimes, if you burn down all the bridges you cross, you'll end up stranded and alone."

"I think it's better to build them with the ones you trust. That way, you'll reach more beautiful places, together."

Luna didn't say anything and Orion continued, "However, there are some bridges that are better left uncrossed and some that are better off burnt down. You must be smart enough to realize when it's okay to forgive and when it is necessary to follow your heart."

"There are some people, beasts and monsters in this world that do not deserve our mercy." Orion finished talking and looked at little Luna thinking about what he said.

Orion didn't continue talking and just walked back to the castle. He picked up some fire wood on the way for his dinner. Once he arrived at the castle's entrance the system spoke in his mind.

'Great timing' Orion thought as he popped the last of the undead cores in his mouth. "Store," Orion said out loud and got a strange look from Luna. He just ignored her stare and rubbed her tiny head as he looked at the store panel in front of him.

'What's this? Summoning? They're pretty expensive too,' Orion thought it was weird for him to be able to summon someone through the system.

'What are you system? God?' Orion asked jokingly, 'it doesn't matter wether you're a god or a devil, since from what I can tell, your goals aren't evil.'

At this moment Orion sensed the presence of the wolves coming out of the forest. There were about 70 of them including Amon. Orion turned to look at the pack of wolves and was amazed to see so many tiny wolves.

"We started off as enemies, but now that we are brought together, I can promise you that you won't be mistreated." Orion paused and looked at Amon, "Amon, you will continue to lead your pack and live here from now on. You may hunt and thrive as you wish, I will not interfere."

"If there comes a time where you're struggling in any regard, I will help you. Don't be afraid to ask for help because of your pride." Orion said sternly. Amon bowed and the rest of the pack followed suit.

"Good, let's eat, Luna." Orion said as he completely forgot about the summoning from the system. He began to set up a fire and brought out some meat from the giant forest cobra.

When Amon smelled the meat he rushed up to Orion and asked, "m..master.. d..did this meat come from the cobra near by this castle?" Orion finished chopping the meat for Luna and turned around to look at Amon.

"It is, is that an issue?" Orion wasn't sure why Amon brought this up but Amon replied with glee, "No! Master, this is great news. That bastard ate and harassed my pack whenever it could. Our territories share a border so it always caused trouble for us."

"I see," Orion said as he recalled one of his tasks, "How many more beasts have territories around here like you two?"

Amon began to think and quickly answered, "Around this city there should be six of us, well, 5 of us now." Orion was happy to hear this since he loved the taste of the giant forest cobra.

Orion didn't like what the system said but then he remembered how vast the forest was when he looked at it from the top of a tree. "Tell me what you know about them, Amon."

Amon nodded and began to tell Orion everything he knew. Apparently since the vampire was in this castle, no beast would dare approach carelessly. The undead of the vampire became stronger at night so that's when they would usually hunt.

The territories around the castle were divided into six and each one was a hunting ground for a powerful beast. Out of those six, however, the twin tailed wolves would venture out of their territory to hunt whenever they needed it.

There was the giant forest cobra, a thunder berserker ape, a diamond cave crab, a savage mountain mole, a purple flame bison and Amon being a gale twin tailed wolf. Each beast having its own preferred environment.

"I see, other than the giant forest cobra, I'll try to subdue the others. Amon, who is the closest beast to us?" Orion asked. "It would be the thunder berserker ape. Beside his territory is the purple flame bison that keeps that dumb ape in check." Amon replied.

"Have you met them before?" Orion asked, "Only the thunder berserker ape and the giant forest cobra. The purple flame bison is more relaxed than the others but if it's disturbed it will never forgive you." Amon shivered as he recalled the story the thunder ape told him about.

"Once I'm done here, I guess I'll visit the ape first. If he has the same temperament as the apes I'm familiar with, it should be easy to subdue him" Orion said as he sat down in front of the fire to cook his meat.

Amon got anxious when he heard that but he swallowed his words. "You can come and watch if you'd like," Orion said as he brought a thick piece of meat to his face.

Amon nodded and laid down beside Orion. Some time passed and Orion heard some prompts from the system but he didn't bother paying attention since the meat in front of him was too delicious.

Orion was putting out the fire and storing his items when he suddenly spoke up, "Oh, that's right, I forgot about the summoning, let's meet some new friends Luna." "Mm!" The little owl nodded her head as Orion placed her on his shoulder.

"System, summon the butler and head maid."
