VRMMORPG: The Other World Online

In a time after humanity was hit by the C-Virus, everything was relabeled. And that included humans. Those who awakened a mystical power called Qi became the Blessed and those who failed became the Qiless. The new minority. The people who did menial jobs. Those who should be shunned. The Other World, Earth's most popular VRMMORPG released its 5th version on 5th of September 2164 with the slogan "Qi Awakening to even the Qiless." A legendary Virtual World that made a not so legendary proclamation. Cheng Xiu, a Qiless, did not have hope to become an Expert in such games. She just wanted to read books, get good grades and reach a place where the lable of Qiless would not hurt her anymore. She didn't want to experience pain and suffering, thank you very much. But it seemed her best friend once again forgot that memo as she buys Cheng Xiu a game pod to play The Other World. And Cheng Xiu slowly realised that even a Qiless had an opportunity for Greatness in the VR World. Watch as she becomes the world's most powerful Qi user online! *** Warnings: There is some disturbing scenes in this, and annoying characters too. The romance does not start until after chapter 100, and it is only after 150 that you will see actual hints of it, if you can call it that. I have tried to give the online world and the real world be real spaces with characters and plots running in both. Please do not copy the story to other sites. I do not earn enough for you take the food from my mouth. xxx Cover Photo is not mine. It belongs to the original creator. If you want me to take it down, just comment on a chapter!

Rainbow Experts

As the stakes flew their way, Cheng Xiu pushed San Zhu to the ground, and rolled them both away.

A low hum was heard across the forest, and tiny lights emerged from the blood colored water. It swirled in the cool breeze and flew around the trunks of the trees in the forest.

The stems and branches turned to ash color. The leaves fell to the ground. And bloody flowers bloomed. The stems twitched and twisted.

When the rumbling sound disappeared, the forest started to glow red. Screeches of various beasts were heard far and near.

"Sister Xiu!" San Zhu screamed.

A long stake hovered in the air and dashed down at her.

Cheng Xiu rolled away with a grunt, her sword slipping from her hand.

The long black vine pierced into the ground.

Cheng Xiu crawled towards her fallen sword and used it to stand up. Her body wasn't fully recovered.

"Brother San, what is this thing!" she asked as she tried to cut the vine. It didn't even leave a scratch.

"Serpentine Vines!" San Zhu screamed as he backed away from the thing. "They are things that feed on the Qi in cursed rivers. Why the hell are they here?"

"Are you stupid?" Cheng Xiu asked. "The Red River turned red after sunset! Do you think that's normal now?!"

San Zhu jumped away.

The Vines grabbed Cheng Xiu's legs and started to drag her towards the water.

"Sister Xiu!" San Zhu called as he ran after her.

Cheng Xiu screamed and tried to hack at the Vine in vain.

"Ignis!" a soft feminine voice echoed in the forest.

A flaming circle formed around Cheng Xiu's feet, holding a small warmth. The Vines started to burn away.

Cheng Xiu laid on the muddy ground, delirious. She had almost been drowned to death by a plant. That was a new low even for her.

More Vines came towards her.

"Sister Xiu!" San Zhu called as he reached her side and helped her stand.

"Ignis!" multiple voices echoed.

Many burning circles appeared around the tentacle like Vines and burned them away.

Something started to screech in pain.

The bloody water became turbulent and from it a humanoid trunked tree rose up. The body was feminine and the face was hauntingly beautiful. The creature's hair looked like moving bloody water and its legs were the Vines that grabbed on to her legs.

"I don't think that's a Serpentine Vine brother Zhu," Cheng Xiu said, as more Vines came towards her. Fire circles came around those things again, burning them away.

The woman's face on the tree trunk opened its mouth and screamed in pain.

Cheng Xiu cringed.

A crazed laugh came from the sky.

Cheng Xiu looked up and was stunned.

Ten people stood on floating swords, like Immortals from old fairytales. They all wore different shades of clothes and each of them looked unique.

At the forefront was a girl wearing white robes. And that was the only thing in a single shade on her. Her ponytailed hair had all the colours of the rainbow. Her sash, her socks and the gloves on her hands were all multicolored. Her face was painted red on one side and blue on the other.

Behind her was a woman all in blue, with golden highlights. Even her bob-cut hair was blue. With a wave of the golden scepter in her hand, large ice spears hit the creature, wounding it.

Beside the blue girl was a woman in indigo robes. Her long, wind blown hair was indigo. She threw daggers at the creature. Wherever the daggers pierced, it started to bubble and melt.

Behind them flew four men. One in Yellow, throwing out balls of light. It hit the creature at the places that the Indigo woman's daggers wounded and burned the creature further.

One man was in Orange, his hand holding javelins that he threw at the humanoid's stomach. They went through the creature's stomach and back to the man's hands.

The man in red robes created barriers around the Players, and threw talismans at the creature. They sometimes created fissures and sometimes burst open.

The man in green waved the long staff held in his hands and healed the people whenever they called him near. Whenever the creature's Vine roots slashed too close to him, he cut it off with water blades.

Behind them came a girl who looked normal in her white robes, except for her violet hair. She created purple thunderbolts at it again and again, slicing off its new appendages that re grew almost immediately.

Behind her came a man Cheng Xiu knew well. A certain Black robed man. Lu WenXian. He took out his sword, and swung it from afar. Windblades cut through the creature repeatedly.

Far behind them, lazily lying on his sword was a man in a deep Grey robes. He yawned repeatedly.

"That…that…" San Zhu lost his ability to speak as all of the Immortals on the swords attacked the Creature with all sorts of power. Fireballs. Thunderbolts. Ice missiles. Windblades.

Well, almost everyone. The man in the Grey clothing seemed to have actually fallen asleep.

"They are…" Cheng Xiu said and paused.

"Yes they are," San Zhu said in excitement.

"Are they called the Rainbow Squad?" Cheng Xiu asked curiously.

"What?" San Zhu asked in shock.

The Rainbow girl laughed like a hyena, nearly falling off her sword. Chen Xiu felt like the girl had heard what she said. The girl probably did. Sword surfing must be high-level right?

San Zhu shook his head.

"They are the Grandmasters of The Other World! Experts! They have all reached the Seventh Tier! The Immortal Realm!" he shouted at her in a fanboy voice.

Cheng Xiu shrugged. How was she supposed to know that?

She looked up at the fighting Immortals.

"But they still look like a rainbow squad to me," Cheng Xiu whispered so that San Zhu wouldn't hear her. But seeing the glare thrown her way, Cheng Xiu guessed he did hear.

The creature lashed its Vines at the people on the sword so quickly, that Cheng Xiu barely made out its afterimage. The people were just as fast in dodging and attacking it.

The Immortals attacked the creature even more but it seemed to be healing just as fast.

The man in Grey hovered in the air, far away from the Monster's reach, and yawned again.

"Brother Star! Don't be lazy!" the Rainbow girl shouted.

The man made a shooing gesture.

The girl pouted and threw a fireball at him.

With a wave of his hand, the fireball turned its trajectory and hit the creature's humanoid face.

Cheng Xiu narrowed her eyes. "Brother San?"

"Yes?" San Zhu asked, his sparkling eyes on the Immortals.

"Is it me or are the trees around us losing their life?"

San Zhu looked around them.

The trees that had glowed beautifully for so long had lost their bright red hue. The area looked like those abandoned places in horror movies.

San Zhu shivered. "Sister Xiu…I have heard of this! When S-Ranked Seventh Realm bosses fight, they absorb the Qi in the creatures around them to make themselves stronger. And the creatures they absorbed the Qi from become-"

Cheng Xiu pointed. "That?"

The trees around them started to twist and turn, and two of them shifted into Humanoid trees. The things ran towards Cheng Xiu and San Zhu, screaming.

"Demonic," San Zhu finished in a whimper.

Cheng Xiu positioned her legs in a fighting stance. Though she did not gain any efficiency in swordsmanship she could use her Cultivation method as the basis to fend off these fiends.

"What are you doing? Shouldn't we be running?" San Zhu asked. "Those are Demonic Treemen! A B-Ranked demonic beast of the Golden Core Realm! Neither of us are the opponents for them!"

Cheng Xiu rolled her eyes. "And how far will you be able to run? Do you think you're capable enough to run away?"

"Do you think you're capable enough to fight?" a voice asked from above them.

Cheng Xiu yelped as she saw a face hanging upside down above her head, and backed away. It was the man in the Grey robes.

His words registered in her mind. She shook her head. "No, but I would rather fight than run away."

The man snorted. "How foolish. It is not a bad idea to run away, girl."

Cheng Xiu rolled her eyes. "Then by all means do so, boy."

He smirked. "I'm Star Phoenix."

Cheng Xiu smiled politely. "Sela. Are you going to help us with them?"

"Nope. Let's see how far your false bravery is."

Cheng Xiu shrugged and ran towards the screaming Treemen full frontal.

San Zhu stumbled after her. "Sister Xiu!"

A/N: It was an interesting chapter to write. There were too many characters introduced in this chapter. I didn't give much of a discription on them because I can do that once Cheng Xiu or San Zhu meets them face to face instead of just flying on swords in the sky.

Do tell me how it was. If you guys want more descriptions I can take that into account in the future. I'm just afraid of writing long bodies of descriptions no one is going to read.

Do comment, vote and share the story if you liked it. Don't forget to leave behind Chapter comments. Your valuable feedback, I believe, will improve me as a writer and hence improve the storyline.

Thank you!
