VRMMORPG: DREAMSCAPE

Original Title was 'VRMMORPG: DREAM ONLINE' ----- Roman was 19 years old when the game VRMMORPG: DREAMSCAPE went public. The game was an instant hit. With 500,000 new accounts by the end of the first week to nearly 20 million accounts by the end of the month. The game was so popular among parents because of how real it felt. It would even scan your body and make your character look just like you. That meant that kids who were out of shape would be out of shape in game. This motivated many kids to stay active and also made parents very happy. For the gamers though, it was the perfect game. A game that had everything. Quests! Dungeons! Monsters! Pvp! What really sold it though was the leveling system. The system allowed you to level up anything you wanted. You want to be an archer? Grab a bow and level up! You want to be an archer with a sword? Grab a sword and level up! You want to bake cookies and sell it to the rich? Grab the ingredients and level up! You want to be able to talk your way out of any situation? Start talking and level up! Over the course of a year, the game kept growing and growing. Eventually even government officials had to take part in the game. It stayed this way for a year. After one entire year, the game had gone offline. No one knew why or when it will be back. After one week, on that day, we all knew why it didn’t come back online. PATCH NOTES 1: THANK YOU FOR COMPLETING THE TUTORIAL. - Author’s Note: I took inspiration from other books on this site that are written in the same genre. I also took inspiration from the real mmorpgs that I have played. I plan to have this story be about 50/50. The time spent in the game and in real life will be about the same. Some arcs may only be in the game while others are only in real life. Please be patient with these arcs if they aren’t your favorite!

"Ahh. Where am I?"

I, Roman, woke up with the worse head ache. It seems like I slept for a long time. Or maybe it was those nightmares? I kept dreaming about people screaming and begging me to stop or they would die.

I shutter at the thought. It was worse than the past where I witnessed people getting killed over items.

As I slowly came to, I saw my current surroundings and immediately put my guard up. It was dark but I could make out the things around.

I was on a bed, inside what seems to be a log cabin. I could smell a smoke and see a candle on a nearby table. It seems that whoever brought me here just left.

I tried getting up but immediately fell back down. My body was sore and stiff. I contemplated on what to do next.

"I could log out… but I don't know how long it's been since I've gone unconscious. Maybe I can just sleep in the game? It's probably more efficient anyways due to the time difference between the real world and the game world."

At the end, I decided to sleep in the game. As I closed my eyes, I sensed someone or something watching me. I was just to tired to care.

'If I die.. I die.'

The next morning.

I was sitting up on the bed. In front of me was an old man. He looked like a butler. He had scruff short white hair. His goatee was cleanly cut and sharp. In fact, he looked rather familiar. As I looked on, he spoke first.

"Young Master. It's great to see that you've recovered. Please, check your arm out. Let me know if anything is wrong with it."

I didn't even know the man's name. When I first worked up, he was already standing there. He bowed the moment I looked at him. Since then, he's been trying to make sure I was comfortable. He's been trying a little to hard if I'm being honest.

I do as he suggested and looked at my arm. I remember seeing my arm in the hands of that vampire but now it was back and reattached. The only difference was that my right arm seemed to be a bit more pale. It wasn't a noticeable change but it is my arm, so I noticed almost instantly.

I move my right arm in a circle motion. I checked my hands, wrist and fingers. I even checked my joints in the arm. It seemed that everything was normal. I turned back to the old man and asked him a few questions.

"Is it alright if I ask you somethings?"

The old man nods.

"Please young master. Raven will answer any questions you have."

'So that's his name.'

"Alright then. Mr. Raven, could you explain to me where I am? What happened to my arm? How many hours have I been out? Why do you keep calling me young master? And the most important question that has been bothering me, do I know you? You seem awfully familiar."

I couldn't help but squint at him, in hopes that a memory would come to me.

Raven nods and begins to explain.

"Young Master, you are currently residing in an old log cabin. It is not my home but a home that once belonged to my friend. My friend has since passed so I've used this cabin home from time to time."

I nod and gestured for him to continue on.

"As for how long you've been out? Let's see... it's been exactly 4 days today since you've been unconscious."

I could feel my eye's bulge as I hear what he said. Four days?! So I've spent a few days in the game already. I need to get off soon and make sure that mom and dad aren't worried. I should also check my messages. I did tell Anna my gamertag so she could have added me by now. While I was wondering about all of this, Raven kept going.

"The question about your arm. Well, you should just look at your stats after this. I won't need to explain anything."

I was slightly taken aback. I've never heard an NPC talk about stats this way. He speaks as if he was an actually player. If it wasn't for my Vision skill telling me that he was an NPC, I would of assumed he was a player.

"And finally, the question about why I call you young master," He pauses for a moment and smiles. It was as if he was reminiscing about something. "You just happen to look like my young master before he died. I saw the way you fought that vampire, you were a mirror image of him."

He looked at me with happiness and a bit of regret in his eyes. I guess he's just an old man that saw a fragment of his past within me. I nod as he finishes.

"Is that so?" I jokingly say after, "I must be your master's reincarnation since you also seem familiar to me. My soul must be trying to tell me something."

I chuckle lightly. However, I stopped when I saw that the old man was looking at me as if he was a proud grandfather.

"You might be right young master."

There was an awkward silence that followed. I wasn't sure about how to go on from there so I just pulled up my stats to see if anything had changed.

My jaws dropped. I was the in the middle of Beginner Rank! But how was that possible? When I returned back from my level grind, I was level 9. How did I gain so many levels?

However, that wasn't even the craziest part of it all. Under the skills, there was a new skill that didn't make any sense to me.

There were no levels or anything. The only thing there was a gray arrow pointing down. I press on it and a few things popped up.

Stage 1: Vampire Physique (7/1,000)

Stage 2 (LOCKED)

STAGE 3 (LOCKED)

I look at the old man for answers. He was the one that told me to look at my stats so he must have sensed something. I used my Vision skill again, this time, I tried to look at his stats or his rank to get a true understanding on how strong he was.

At first nothing happened when I looked at him but then I suddenly felt excruciating pain in my eyes. Soon after, the vision from my right eye was gone. I felt a warm liquid coming from that side of my first.

I touched it and looked at it with my good eye.

"Blood?!"

I look up at the old man. He just shakes his head. His strong aura was suppressing me.

"Don't worry, I only crushed your eyes for trying to look. You shouldn't look at someone else's stats without their permission. Especially the stats of a Saint like me."

(A/N: I might change the character stats sheet. Instead of having it all spread out, I will condense it down. I keep having issues where it doesn't save properly and so sometimes I end up losing all the updated stats of Roman. Plus it will help me organize it better once other character's get their stats sheets as well.)

If you wish to support me, the best way to do so is through power stones! Thanks again for reading! If you like the book so far, feel free to add it to your library. Also rate it and leave a review!
