6 months pt 2

"RETREAT!" Natalia yelled into the coms. Its been four weeks of playing cat and mouse with Essex and Trask. Each time members of OverWatch would leave the base suited up they would be attacked by sentinal robots.

At first it was just two or three that was managable, but then they started coming in waves of 10+. Natalia looked at the screen and finally made the decision.

"Are you sure Nat? No one would blame you but they all wont go." Ororo said from her left watching Natalia type in the commands.

Nat didnt say much instead she opened the live coms and started speaking "When Damien came to us all those years ago he had a dream. A plan to help all the metas being tortured and experimented on. We were the first and last line of defense. Now with him gone that defense is falling. Humanity is split on our decisions. Whenever we leave we're met with opposition and it seems as if less and less people will openly defend us. So it's time for plan B."

The members of OverWatch who just returned barely in piece from fighting the new upgraded Sentinels, sat there watching her speech. No member spoke or moved from their spots as their eyes were glued to Natalia.

"Im disbanding OverWatch. I refuse to keep sending you all out risking your lives for people who clearly don't want us around. In exactly 15 minutes we'll be evacuating the planet, I wont force you to come with us, some of you have families and friends here you can't give up.....it hurts to say this but we lost this battle, but we haven't lost the war. We will regroup on Viltrum and start expanding our cities and protecting our people from there...Thank you guys for the work you've put in, but for now please get some rest."

Watching the screen turn off heroes around the world all looked at their badges and had different reactions to it.

Natalia and Ororo walked away from the screen and walked into 'The Hive' derived from Cerebro but made to host multiple telepaths all at once. Nat was starting to show and she was less graceful on her feet but she still felt the need to be the one to personally see this project through.

If not for her, for her child. The last thing she wants is for her unborn children to be buried next to their dad in the private cemetery on Viltrum.

She opened the door to The Hive to find the Quintuplets, Quentin, Frost, and Jean Grey all ready and in their places.

"Alright Widow, we're ready. Say the word and you'll be connected to every meta human of any sort. We've already filtered through the criminals and extremists but just know there might still be some turbulence once we go through with this" Frost explained.

Nat stepped forward supported by Ororo as they passed her a helmet, she slipped it on her head as she felt the most painful headache in her life. It flashed for a few seconds but gradually calmed down until it became less of a migraine.

"Meta humans. Can you hear my voice? Im the Black Widow, and im sure youre all aware of the state of things. With Kelly pushing forward on his plans and Invincible no longer around to protect us, we are hereby announcing an evacuation plan. By the end of the day if you've made the decision to be evacuated gather whatever things you want and keep them close to you. It doesn't matter where you are or who you're with, just have made up your mind and you will be teleported to our safe haven Invincible made before he died. The world has turned their backs on us. So we'll take care of each other. End of the day, im sorry to rush you, but thats all we can afford."

Natalia took off the helmet and felt a mild strain as Ro patted her back and wiped off the small stream of blood sliding from her nose.

Jean stepped forward and said "The transmission was a success i can already hear a lot of excited people finally getting the chance to escape. Just in time too because we have less than a month before the U.N. votes on the bill and suddenly its not only America but the whole world becomes unlivable for Metas."

The girls talk a bit more but then they exit the room so the telepaths could rest before they connect again tonight. Nat and Ororo leave the room and head towards her office. Even though she deserved to move into the biggest space she didnt even touch it.

"Ro, do you think he would've given up?" Nat asked her sister wife and friend.

"Honestly, yes. From what I've seen of Sentry he's easily stronger than Damien by a bit, and you saw what happened whenever he came into contact with anything energy based. If it wasnt for our teleportation or the fact that he can't survive a vaccuum we wouldve lost Komand'r a few times."

"How is she by the way? She keeps going back and challenging him, one day she wont be so lucky."

"She's still grieving, she blames herself for letting him die. She's calmed down a bit but that guilt is still present everytime she looks at you, Dom, or Laura. Speaking of Laura she's even worse. Sue had to restrain her from killing herself the other day. Apparently the news that he's gone isn't something that she's been handling well."

"Sigh, i just don't know how we're gonna do it Ro. Based on Jean's numbers we're having at least 20 million citizens all coming in at once. Thats gonna take weeks to manage. Yea we have some people stationed and ready but on this scale. It was supposed to be in batches but with everything happening.."

"Its okay Nat. Stop stressing so much it's not good for the twins. Look Wakanda went up last weekend choosing to settle in the southern continent. Theyre going to be available to help us out."

The two sat in silence thinking of all the plans in motion before a knock is heard on the door. Peter walked in handing in his badge saying he'd take his chances, and the streets still need the little guy. Nat okayed it since Sentinels only scan for X genes and Peter didnt have any active ones. A few others such as Scott Summers, and Quentin who just got a gig as University professor, said they'd stay behind as well.

Time trickled slowly as the last minutes came around the corner.

"This is it Nat," Ororo stated "There's no coming back from this one. No more hidden societies, or secret bad guys plotting for 1000s of years. Its all in Furys hands now. Let them deal with the troubles they created."

Natalia smiled thinking of how much hell they're going to have to endure but shrugged her shoulders. They tried to help and was shot at and hunted, so they stopped caring. Now they can sit back in peace, steadily grow their country on their planet, although they still have a few empty continents except for plant and wildlife.

"Jean. Begin the transmission."

"Hive going on air. Connecting to all known Metas. Aaaaaaand we're clear. Estimated 23 million minds tagged and awaiting transfer."

"This is Widow. Do it."

The Boomtubes worked overtime that night, but it was definitely a shock to be seen. The next day law officials and civilians alike were dumbfounded to learn that over 20 million people around the globe all disappeared without a trace. But the even bigger news came from one headline.

OverWatch Disbanded.

Who's Saving Us Now?

Bonus Scene

Fury was pissed but he understood. The minute he learned 23 million people just disappeared he knew that was the Metas saving themselves from the clusterfuck humanity created for them. He was tempted to ask if he could go too, but he knew better. The world still had their own problems and now there was no Metas left to save them.

He opened his dresser and pulled out a file he thought he didn't need anymore since Invincible showed up in the skies. But now they have a different caped crusader and this one didnt tolerate the paparazzi too well.

"Sir" Maria Hill said as she knocked on the door "We found Stark in a cave in Afghanistan. We have choppers en route to rescue him now."

"Keep me updated, Any news on Trask and his robot hunting facilities?"

"No sir, its almost as if the facility never existed, but our people is still looking."

Fury dismissed her and turned in his chair looking at the sky. He closed his one good eye and for the first time ever Fury prayed to whatever god was listening.
