Laziness

Auriel became a Candidate but he wasn't joyous about this. He knew that awakening his potential was the most important thing after being a Candidate.

And he didn't know how to awaken his potential as there was no definite way to do it.

Some people awakened their potential while sleeping while some of them awakened after training for years and some of them awaken in life and death situations.

That is why, Auriel decided to train for some time to awaken his potential as there was no need for him to get in dangerous situations, even the original piggy was able to awaken his potential. Hence Auriel was sure that he would awaken his potential in no time and become Awakened.

Though Auriel gave in to his laziness even before he began to exercise and lay on his bed.

He thought that it wouldn't be too bad to rest for the day as he experienced terrible pain from drinking a divinity mixed water, and he convinced himself that he deserved this rest after serving the gods for 40 years without a single day of the holiday.

He closed his eyes and let himself to the dark corners of his mind, slowly falling into his subconsciousness.

But before he fell into a deep sleep, his eyes instantly opened after feeling something cold on his neck.

Then this chilly thing pressed on his throat, strangling him with an unrelenting force that prevented him from breathing.

Immediate panic engulfed Auriel's whole being after noticing the fact that someone was trying to kill him in a cold blood.

His face turned red as the cold thread tightened further and further. Auriel's hands shot through to his throat, grabbing the cold, thread-like thing that was strangling him while making scratches around his neck in the process.

His heart pounded in his chest with a loud rhythm, his legs kicked around randomly to escape from the attacker, and adrenaline rushed to his vessels, giving him the temporary strength that he desperately needed.

With an abrupt pull, he was able to pull the thread, but he fell to the floor face-first.

The assassin slowly and silently crouched on his side and passed the metal thread again to the throat of Auriel, strangling him again, taking advantage of his moment of pause after falling to the floor.

Auriel gasped for breath but the metal wire was preventing him from breathing with an unshakable force.

The eyes of Auriel darken, his legs stopped kicking and they fell to the ground.

But there was still a determined shine in the almost closed eyes of Auriel, and that huge determination awoken something magical in him.

The reddish pen-like symbol and a black, mysterious question mark on his forehead vanished, and a surge of mystical power enveloped his whole being.

His eyes widened slightly after noticing the changes in his body and the force of the metal wire that now felt weak for him.

Even though Auriel was fat and just became an Awakened, he was still an Awakened, and like every Awakened his body got stronger in a second. And being awakened had more benefits than just being physically strong.

For example, the metal thread that was around the neck of Auriel, slipped on his skin as if it was a snake and shot through the assassin like an arrow.

This was done by Auriel without any thought, with just his instinct to preserve his own life and eliminate the threat.

The metal thread penetrated through the skull of the assassin, killing him instantly.

And with that, Auriel released a sigh of relief and let himself to the gravity, taking deep breaths on the floor while looking at the ceiling with a cold gaze.

His neck was hurting greatly but he didn't have any will to get up from the floor and look bandage his neck.

"Guards!" A hoarse voice came out of Auriel as he didn't feel like getting up. He was knackered.

After some seconds of delay later, the door of his room opened and a guard clad in black, lusterless metal armor with thin red lines on its surface came inside.

Then this guard saw Auriel laying on the floor and came to his side in a hurry as if his life was depending on it, which was probably true as Auriel attacked while this black armored man was guarding him.

Auriel looked at the guard who was kneeling on his side while checking his body with his eyes. Then the eyes of the guard widened after seeing the scratches and the mark of the wire around Auriel's neck, he trembled slightly and quickly got up to find the threat, and when he saw the corpse of the assassin, who have a thin metal thread between his brows, he quickly opened his mouth.

"Call a healer!" He shouted to the outside of the room and added.

"Call the young master Clint!"

Then the guard stood still in front of Auriel in guarding position and wore a reliable smile.

"You can rest now, young master Auriel. This time I will properly do my job."

Auriel nodded weakly.

"Yes, you do that." He said quietly and closed his eyes.

Being a Candidate and Awakened in a single day was tiring and to make the matters worse, he lived through an assassination attempt.

So, this time he really needed a rest, not because of laziness but for a real reason.
