Lucas was put in a dilemma. The only solution would most likely be to kill the thief with a single strike. As soon as he got close enough, the thief would notice him and if the thief was a skilled fighter, he would drag out the fight until his companion showed up.
After a while of contemplating, he decided to take the risk. Pulling the sword out silently from its sheath he slowly creeper towards the unsuspecting thief whose attention was fixed on the inn. However, he didn't get too close.
"He will notice me as soon as I get within seven meters of his position. If he has slow reflexes, i should be able to kill him in one strike, however, missing would most likely spell misfortune for me".
After a while, Lucas finally made his move. He lunged forward with his sword and struck forward at the unsuspecting bandit. At that moment, the bandit finally realized something was off, just as Lucas predicted, the thief immediately noticed Lucas as soon as he passed the seven meter mark. To make it worse, he quickly ducked down and rolled to the side effectively avoiding the attack.
"Shit!" Lucas yelled out loud as he skillfully stopped the swords momentum and slashed at the thief's current position. He wanted to kill the thief before he could alert his other member, unfortunately, the other thief took out a pair of short swords that looked crude and unsightly. They could barely be considered as weapons, it was clear that it was mainly used to frighten people as it would be useless in a one on one fight.
The short swords were held in a defensive form by the panicking thief, he had raised the swords in a haste to try to block the incoming attack, unfortunately, the thief was poorly skilled and could not parry the attack. The sword directly sliced the two short swords into pieces without its momentum lessening in the slightest.
"Ahhhhh". The thief screamed in pain as the sword landed on his chest drawing blood out immensely.
......
"What was that noise?" The other thief that was supposed to be on guard heard the scream filled with pain coming from the other side of the inn, he instinctively raised his guard up.
"Did Ulan kill someone else, he couldn't have carelessly given away his position right?"
The thief made his way to the spot where his partner was guarding. There was a chance that his partner could have killed the supposed target so he would definitely go to find out. However before he had moved ten steps, he heard a loud cry that sounded exactly from his partners location.
"Trappp...!"
That was all that he heard before the voice went silent. This made the thief who was planning to come over immediately come to a halt with a grim expression. He definitely recognised the voice that had screamed the word Trap. It was none other than Ulan, one of the three thieves from the Blackburn gang that was assigned on this mission.
"Trap, he yelled trap. He's.. He's dead, ulan is dead, who the fuck killed him?"
The thief was currently shaking. He was aware that he was stronger than Ulan by just a level, he didn't know who or what had killed his partner, he didn't go to investigate and ran in the direction of his other partner who had also come as well. However as he got to the alley, what awaited him was nothing but a dead body.
"He is dead, even Karl is dead as well, not good, not good at all. I have to leave, I have to report this to the gang". The thief who had a scar on his face shuddered because of his fear of the unknown. He quickly fled immediately without turning back as he made his way back to a branch house of the Blackburn gang.
......
"Damn it! He screamed before he died. Now there is no chance that the past thief is still here. He would have most likely fled or maybe he will be hiding in the surroundings".
Lucas knew that he had most likely alerted the last thief who wanted to Jill him, now there was a high probability he was no longer here as well. Still Lucas wanted to make sure so he scoured the entire area. Only when he was sure that the thief was no longer present did he finally stop.
"Now I have no idea who wants to kill me, although it might be that guard from the city gates, confirmation would have been very good". Lucas sighed as he dropped his shoulders dejectedly. He wanted to kill two of the thieves and question the third one for information, then kill him anyway.
He returned to the inn and entered his room. Upon entry, he sat on the bed cross legged and closed his eyes.
"The Sun clan Martial contest is tomorrow, currently, my base is at the seventh level of the dawn tier grade, but I still haven't mastered the lightning force even to the basic stages yet". Lucas thought to himself as he sat down and cultivated.
"Things would be so much easier if I can access the mirror world again, however, the chances of that happening are slim, its more likely for me to make a breakthrough to the ninth level of the dawn tier grade than to accidentally access the mirror world again".
Lucas was referring to the mirror world that he accidentally came across. At that moment, he had fallen unconscious as he fell downwards in a dark cave. Upon regaining himself, he was in a different world were the environment was rich in energy and the passage of time was much slower. Because of such a good fortuitous encounter, he managed to raise his base from the first to the seventh level of the Dawn tier grade in a few short days. However, unless he could locate the worlds coordinates and draw up a teleportation seal, there was no way he could return to that place again. After all he didn't access it through cultivation methods.
"Throughout tonight, I will focus on comprehending the force of nature, lightning force. If I can successfully comprehend it to the first stage, the basic stage, I would be able to use it as a touchstone to create the speed force left behind by the fallen Angel Hallion. After that, I will be faster than someone a whole level higher than me".
Lucas encouraged himself as he sat down to cultivate, while he comprehended the lightning force, he also tried to raise his cultivation base. The martial contest would be held for skulled geniuses, and Lucas wasn't naive enough to think that the bozos he had come across recently were all this world had to offer. There would be some young geniuses with higher power levels and maybe some skilled weapon users. Maybe even an Elemental cultivator like himself would appear. After all the three clans all had at least one elemental cultivator in their younger generation.
Currently, his strength was more than halfway through to the next level, what he really wanted was to raise his strength so he could hit the peak of the seventh level of the Dawn tier grade, that way he would stand a better chance of competing with the other young geniuses.
..... ..... .
Meanwhile near a mansion a couple thousand miles away from Blackburn city, a young figure sat inside a carriage with a deep frown on her face as if she was trying to tell the whole world that she was currently very displeased. She had long pink hair and dazzling blue eyes and a devilishly pretty face. Her body figure was covered in a long ball gown and her brown skin made her look like a black beauty.
Even the frown on her face made her look pretty but she exuded a cold and indifferent aura as she sat in the carriage that had yet to leave the mansion. Standing at the window of the mansion was also a youth who was about the same age as her who wore a long crimson robe. His slightly above average appearance made him look arrogant, but he currently had a smile on his face that looked a little forced.
"Sophia, you should understand better than anyone that our Graymoore family needs to send the best of the best among the younger generation, even though its just by a slight margin, you aren't capable of being ranked in the top ten among our younger generation. So we the family can't afford to use up a slot on you".
"Hump, who cares, just because you managed to breakthrough to the ninth level before me as well as that Nuzi bitch doesn't mean am one bit inferior to the ten of you Ivan".
If Lucas was standing here. He would be able to recognise not only the male, but also the female who was sitting in the carriage. The male was none other than Ivan graymoore, the son of a b**ch who crippled his cultivation base as well as Old man Zander and sold them both to the slave silo.
The female on the other hand was a direct disciple of the family just like Ivan as well. She was Sophia Graymoore, Lucas's cousin.
"It doesn't matter, we who are ranked in the top ten in the family have the chance to be able to make it into the Pristine Arian Rankings for the Eminent Battle League that is going to take place precisely a year from now. Not only do we have to send in out best, we have to increase our strength as well. You will still have your chance to prove your worth to the family".
"Hump". Sophia scoffed lightly as her frown turned indifferent.
"Now that that brat is no longer in the family, nothing will stand in my way of being the Crown descendant in a years time after the Contest is complete. In that time, you can go to the other provinces and also compete for your chance to enter the Eminent Battle league".
Ivan said with a slight tone of impatience. This was personally arranged by the family so Sophia and a few other outstanding Graymoore family youths would be able yo still participate in the Event happening in a years time.
Sophia couldn't take it anymore and ordered the coach to drive away, the carriage left the mansion while Ivan stood there looking into the distance disdainfully.
"You want to compete for a spot with that meager strength of yours, be thankful that your mother has a high position to recommend you to another clan in another province". Ivan thought to himself as he smirked.
"That brat has been missing for almost seven months, he should be long dead by now. Even though the soul binding bind in our family doesn't allow us to kill each other directly, it still didn't stop me from selling you as a slave and destroying your future. Your mother who has been searching for you all this while won't be able to delay my coronation anymore once I emerge from the Eminent Battle league with a high place". As he spoke, a flash of killing intent shone in his eyes.
"And you bitch Sophia, you dare to be arrogant to me. Once I become the crown descendant, I will show you no mercy when I take you in my bed as my own. I want to see if you will be able to stop me from reaping the fruits you have been hiding in that body of yours for so long". He licked his lips leacherously as he made his way back into the mansion.
Never would he imagine that the person he thought he had gotten rid of was alive and well, moreover he was currently better than before.
.......
When the light shone through the window, Lucas woke up from his slumber. He had been cultivating for a while before he finally went to bed after making a breakthrough with his Elemental Force.
"Its time, today is the day. Sun clan, here I come".
Meanwhile at another area, in a gigantic asylum like prison that housed the sounds of mourning and hopelessness an old man finally received long awaited news.
"He finally showed himself, and in Blackburn city no less. Good, good, now I, Warden Xie Zhong of the slave silo will show you what torture means".
