Chapter 14 Blackburn Gang

The thief's face was horrified as he realised that he had been discovered, moreover, the other party had actually managed to sneak up behind him without him noticing, he immediately panicked a drew his daggers out of their sheaths.

"Six dagger piercer strike".

The thief immediately casted his dagger technique, " Six dagger piercer strike". This was a low grade technique that many thieves usually started out with when using daggers. It mostly depended on hand speed yo give out the illusion of six daggers attacking simultaneously at the same time.

Unlike Spatial skills that could only be mastered by people of the same class, martial skills could be mastered BT almost anyone as long as they could satisfy the requirements. Just like this dagger skill, as long as one was versed in using daggers, executing the skill would not pose much of a problem.

Martial skills that were under the ranked grades were usually unranked skills. They were divided into several categories.

Low grade, intermediate grade and Advanced grade. The various grades were further divided into different stages such as basic stages, apprentice stages, mastery stages and expert stages. The low grade martial skill cast by the thief was at the mastery stages despite it's low offensive force.

Faced with the incoming six daggers, Lucas didn't even bat an eyelid as he stretched instantly cast his own unranked martial skill.

"Shadow Clone Technique".

Whoosh, Whoosh, Whoosh.

Under the eyes of the attacking thief, an additional two exact copies of the youth that sneak attacked him appeared and charged straight at his six dagger attack.

The two clones nimbly dodged the dagger attacks that looked pitifully slow in Lucas's eyes. At this moment, his eyes only held disdain.

"Who the hell actually sent this guy to kill me, this is undoubtedly an insult".

However unlike the disdain in Lucas's eyes, horror was the only thing clearly written on the thief's face.

"You... You-You are at the soul lining stage...."

However he didn't get to finish his sentence when the clones disappeared and the original Lucas was right before him. Although the thief was a young man that was barely twenty five years old, his cultivation base was only at the seventh level of the Dawn tier grade.

In this world, the higher the level of the cultivation base highly depended on ones innate talent, therefore, it was normal to see someone almost middle aged still stuck at the Dawn tier grade. Seeing the skill that closely resembled the Assassin skill only used by soul lining stage experts, the thief mistook Lucas to be at the soul lining grade.

Lucas standing in front of the thief who was about a few inches taller than him struck next. The sound of a sword leaving its sheet sounded abruptly.

Lucas had pulled out the brand new sword he had gotten today from Gary at his store. The thief's expression that was already grim turned cold as he slashed at Lucas's direction. He wasn't going to stand there and be mercilessly killed after all.

However, Lucas simply side stepped and dodged the strike effectively, then with a thrust of his sword, a short lived sword cry sounded out before it disappeared immediately.

Lucas stood at the opposite side of the thief with his hand stretched out while he was holding the sword that had blood smeared on it. His back was facing the back of the thief who was no longer moving.

In the next second, blood spurted out of the thief's neck as his head rolled down from his body with his eyes widened in shock and disbelief.

"Hmmm, am still too rusty, that thief wouldn't have noticed me if I was at even a quarter of my prime".

Lucas looked at the decapitated body with a slight frown. Then he searched the thief's body and he found 75 bronze Arian coins.

"That thief said that there were two more people like him watching the inn. This thief's strength should be at the seventh level of the Dawn tier grade, however I wander if his companions are any stronger than he is?"

Lucas stopped muttering to himself and went around the street. He stealthily moved to the east side of the inn and looked around to find the other thief.

..........

At the other end of the inn, a thief yawned in boredom similar to his former companion. This assignment he was given was extremely boring as the target hadn't even shown up.

The target was a young teenager with a cultivation base expected to be at the fifth level of the Dawn tier grade. The request was simple, they were merely to eliminate their target, whatever they found on him would be theirs.

"The fact that this kid isn't here yet, don't tell me something tragic has befallen him already. If we can't finish this assignment, we would be kicked out of the Blackburn gang and our lives will be worthless".

At this point, the thief couldn't help but shudder inwardly when he recalled how this was the last chance he and his two companions had to save their sorry asses. In the Blackburn gang, their strength was merely at the bottom of the bunch since their cultivation base was not even close to the tenth level of the Dawn tier grade.

In the Blackburn gang, those who were really important started from the first level of the soul lining grade. Anyone below that would be either errand boys, or dogs belonging to the real people who held power and authority.

He and his friends were merely at the seventh, eighth and ninth level of the Dawn tier grade respectively. With their pitiful strength, they could consider their selves lucky to finally receive a mission where they could actually show they had value.

"Huh, what's that sound?"

The thief turned around to look at the back of the alleyway, the alley was dark and deserted, not a singe soul could be seen in sight. "I thought i heard something, I guess I must be too anxious".

....

"This guys strength isn't the same as his comrade, judging by the way he noticed me earlier, he must be at the eight level of the Dawn tier grade".

Lucas was momentarily stunned, if not for the fact that he was an expert at concealment, he would have been noticed by the thief a moment ago.

"With my current strength, its impossible for me to get closer, even though he is just at the eighth level of the Dawn tier grade, his perception is very strong. Not even someone at the tenth level would be able to notice my concealment".

Lucas stayed put while he pondered what to do. There was currently one more thief apart from this one in front of him, his strength was at the eight level of the Dawn tier grade while Lucas had a cultivation base at the seventh level of the dawn tier grade. However because of his experience and skill in concealing himself, even regular folks at the tenth level of the dawn tier grade won't be able to notice him without a high level of perception.

This clearly showed that the thief in front of him wasn't ordinary like all the other people of had fought upon coming here. "This thief might actually be a match for me, if I am not careful, I might not be able to beat him if he is really skilled in fighting. Even if he wasn't too skilled, as long as the thief could drag it out for a while, the other thief would definitely notice and would either come to help out or would flee".

Neither one of those options were good for him.
