"Is there a problem with me burying his treasure?" Vergil raised his eyebrow and looked at the people in front of him.
"If we didn't complete the job... then we won't get the money..." Yato murmured, torn between stopping Vergil and completing his mission.
"How about this, tell me who hired you." Vergil asked the trio but they didn't answer and became tight lipped.
"Considering that the Higuchi family is putting a lot of resources in tracing the thief, someone powerful must be the one who hired you." Vergil probed and he could see Yato's face distort.
"Its not? Is it personal? Or someone must've passed the request to someone else who then decided to hire you." Vergil said and their faces turned ugly.
"Fine, I won't pursue it any longer, but... I'm going to hire you three. I'll provide a house, money, and food. All you have to do is keep my old man's sword and grave, away from harm." Vergil said as he stared at the trio.
"Can we talk about it first?" Yato asked as he motioned for the two to follow him.
"What do you think of his offer?" Yato asked the other two for opinion.
"It sounds good to be true." Hiyori said making Yato knit his brow, he wanted to accept Vergil's request but he wanted to know his companion's opinion.
"True, but we won't have to be like stray cats, he'll provide us with a home." Yato's eyes were shining like a cat.
"Are we just going to believe him that he stole them to bury it? What if he dug it after we left?" Yukine expressed his doubts.
"He did say we're going to guard it so that no one will dig it after... Hm, the Higuchi family is falling after losing Bishamonten's favor. If so why is she helping them out now? She even passed it to Kofuku for us to deal with." Yato said making the three of them think deeper.
"He said that he'll hire us if we keep his old man's sword and grave from harm. Then the sword must be something that Bishamonten doesn't want to spread or there's something valuable or dangerous in the pile of items he had." Yato continued making them understand a little of the situation.
"So we accept?" Yato asked the two who slowly nodded after thinking.
*
"Done talking?" Vergil asked Yato.
"Before we accept, what kind of sword do you want us to protect? Why should we protect it?" Yato asked Vergil who simply bent down and pulled a sword from the pile and his actions alerted Yato, almost turning Yukine into a weapon.
"Have you all heard of Genryusai Yamamoto?" Vergil asked the three but only Yato flinched.
"It seems that only you know who he is?" Vergil asked Yato while his two companions were looking at him for answers.
"Since you don't know him, I'll give you a brief overview on who he is and what sword this is..." Vergil didn't get to start when another voice resounded near us.
"Genryusai Shigekuni Yamamoto, a person of great honor. The person who lead his people to drive out invaders from other countries and brought peace to the entirety of Japan.
To help him in his cause to protect Japan, the Gods bestowed the human, a sword, a sword of fire to burn enemies down named Ryujin Jakka. It is said that Ryujin Jakka's full power could melt the land and dry the seas.
With Ryujin Jakka in hand, Genryusai Yamamoto protected Japan from invasion outside the country." The voice said and I could see a beautiful woman with extremely long blonde hair that reaches her feet and are curly at the end. She has pale skin and her eyes are purple. Her clothes are revealing, wearing a short grey skirt and a grey buttonless jacket, black hat, black bra, and long black boots.
On the left side of the beautiful woman is a woman with pink hair, she looks like a student with her attire. On the right side of the student lady, is a man with a brown hair with green eyes. He is wearing a smart suit with a match of thick-rimmed glasses.
"Hi, Yatty!" The woman with the pink hair waved her hand.
"Geh, its Bishamonten, Kazuma, and Kofuku!" Yato's face distorted once more.
"Kofuku, what are you doing here? And who're they?" Hiyori asked Kofuku for answers.
"Hiyoriiiin~ its taking you so long so Bisha wanted to finish it herself." Kofuku said while Bishamonten wanted to slash Yato down.
"Wait if this Genryusai Yamamoto you said is that amazing, then why isn't he known? Such actions are befitting of a hero, why haven't I heard of him?" Yukine suddenly interjected causing them to drop their greetings.
"Because they didn't want Ryujin Jakka to fall into wrong hands. Ryujin Jakka was granted by the Gods to Yamamoto to protect Japan, its a symbol of peace. By removing all records about Ryujin Jakka, not a lot of people would know about it, limiting the danger posed by Ryujin Jakka falling into wrong hands. Also, not everyone could use it, the heat that the sword release is so intense that you will feel like burning is a normal occurrence." Vergil explained making the Gods and spectators surprised.
"Eh? He could see us?! Is she like Hiyorin?" Kofuku asked and Hiyori nodded her head in confirmation.
"Did he tell it to you?" Bishamon asked Vergil and Vergil knew all too well who she's talking about.
"Yes, he did. That's why I wanted to hire them and protect this sword and my old man's grave from harm, but then you guys came." Vergil said looking at Kofuku and Bishamon.
"Then you must know why we're looking for you." Kazuma said as Vergil nodded.
"Does the Gods declared that they want it back?" Vergil asked Bishamonten who narrowed her eyes.
"No, but I can't let it fall into the wrong hands." Bishamon said to Vergil.
"As much as I like to please the God of War and Fortune, I prefer to hire people to protect it for me." Vergil said making Bishamonten surprised and slightly irritated because he trusted Yato more than the God of Fortune.
"Why them?" Bishamon asked.
"These guys are desperate, to even accept a request from the God of Misfortune, means they are barely getting by." Vergil said making Kofuku puff up her cheeks.
"Hey! That's rude!" Kofuku complained to Vergil who ignored her.
"Anyway, once I give them a stable job, a place to live, and daily necessities like food. They will do their job to the best of their abilities so they won't lose their salary. Besides, the job is not against their morals, I just want them to safeguard Ryujin Jakka and my old man's tomb." Vergil explained and Kofuku's eyes lit up.
"Yatty! You're not gonna be a homeless person anymore! But I will miss you so visit me anytime you want." Kofuku said while smiling.
"Is that your decision?" Bishamon asked and Vergil nodded.
"I see, then farewell." Bishamon said as she turned heels and glared at Yato but before she left, Vergil's hand stopped her making her flinch in surprise.
"Don't just leave like that, I'll make a deal with you as well. Since those from the Higuchi family doesn't want to use their ancestor's assets into good use, I'll give them to you as offering but let me use your libraries if you have one, whenever I want." Vergil said making her narrow her eyes once more while Kazuma had a thoughtful look on his face.
"Although Ryujin Jakka is already being taken care of, I'm pretty sure there are dangerous items in the fold as well. I'll be offering it to you since you're the God my old man worships." Vergil continued making Bishamon nod her head.
"Very well." She then gave Vergil an insignia that has a lion with a warrior riding it as a mount.
"If you want to access the libraries, press the button in the back of the insignia, it will notify Kazuma of your will. If Kazuma doesn't answer your call, you can go to Kofuku to bring you to my abode and my servants will be there to help you out." Bishamon said to Vergil.
"Every party's happy, yes?" Vergil asked but only Bishamon snorted before leaving. Kazuma stayed behind so he could pack everything up.
"Say, your name is Vergil, right?" Kofuku asked Vergil who nodded.
"How did you know about the Gods, V-chan?" Kofuku said as Kofuku already gave Vergil a nickname. Their conversation brought the interest of everyone, for Yato's group, they want to know more about their employer, while for Kazuma, to understand the person who made a deal with the war god with no fear.
"The old man taught me." Vergil said as he pointed at his back.
"The old man always made sure to drill the knowledge about the Gods in me when I was a kid to the point that I had to mutter their name in their sleep so I won't forget them or the old man will punish me unreasonably." Vergil said making Kofuku chuckle.
"I also know about you." Vergil said while looking at Yato who flinched once again.
"Do they know, about your past?" My words startled Kofuku, Kazuma, and Yato. Seeing the look of confusion on Hiyori and Yukine, I figured that Yato didn't tell them or he's still keeping them in the dark.
"Well, I'm not saying anything if they don't know a thing. Follow me, I'll bring you to your new home." Vergil said but before he turned heels, Yukine asked Vergil.
"W-what do you mean by Yato's past?" Yukine asked as he stared at Vergil who turned his back and continued walking.
"If you want to know, ask the man yourself." Vergil said leaving Kofuku, Kazuma, and the trio behind.
