CHAPTER 368: We... Were Naive

Everything was explained to Nathalia.

Her existence and the fact that the dark force used such hideous means to play with the light force.

"We... were naive. As it was a contract that involves their power, we thought they would obliged."

The one who explained, the one named Fiere, said this sentence in a self deprecating manner.

"And as we have heard of the way you had lived, I suppose that is also because of your true nature."

"True nature?" Nathalia was honestly being baffled at this moment.

But at the very least, she is no longer in such a dark place and is now seeing more things. That is what she was having fun at the moment.

It has been so long since she was in the dark world, so being out here was nice.

And if Jiro was not here, then maybe she would be reacting differently. But he is by her side and that helps her to calm down a lot.

"The light force, the dark force and the human race are never meant to mingle with one another. There would always be a wall separating each of them despite having the chance to interact. Nathalia sighed as Fiere and the few others that stayed waited for what she had to say.

She looked around the place and somehow remembered the time she spent with Saphira. She shined so brightly, much brighter than even her who was actually a part of the light force.

Then a smile slowly crept up at her lips.

"You know, if I had not met that girl, Saphira. I may be cursing at you right now. For all the things I experienced."

Those who are surrounding her and Jiro could only look away from her.

They're naivety was what caused her pain after all.

"But I met her. I met a person that is completely compatible with the light ability. In a completely different level from her predecessors. I learned so much from her as Lily and learned a whole load more as Nathalia. And she completely changed my mind about my existence. And now learning about the truth of myself, I actually find it in me to accept it naturally."

She once again looked around, "I don't know for how long our existence will go but I can tell it will be longer than that of a human. Still I wish to apply to myself now what I learned the most from her."

She looked back at Fiere then at Jiro.

"I wish to live my life now to the fullest, leaving no more regrets and feelings such as 'if only'. I want to be as free as I can, to enjoy my life and to appreciate everything there is around me."

She looked back at Fiere when she heard some sniffing.

"Are you crying?" she couldn't believe it.

"There is no rule, princess, that we don't feel emotions."

Nathalia smiled, truly if not for Saphira, this situation would have caused her to go crazy.

Who wouldn't?

You were actually the princess of another existence but was made to live a difficult life just because of the naivety of your family and people. You could have lived differently but instead you ended up suffering.

"Why do you think my power was passed over to the humans? Indeed, half my soul stayed behind. Why was it always Vermilion Bird's hosts who received it?" she asked.

This had been a puzzle to her.

"It seems that since he became your accompanying beast, your power and your constitution have affected him. And as for the hosts, it could be said that your other half would awaken whenever they started feeling those same emotions you had before you were taken to the dark world."

Nathalia blinked, "Loneliness and pain."

Saphira had felt so lonely after her friends and the people she loved treated her coldly after what happened.

She nodded her head in understanding, that is indeed plausible.

Then a thought came to her, "There is just one thing I desire at the moment."

"Please tell," Fiere responded instantly.

"Those who were taken to the dark world, those who received my power. Is there a chance we could get them back? To live again but differently this time?"

"I suppose the king can do something about that, princess."

As he spoke of this, bright lights blinded them before a mighty presence could feel near them.

"Those children are now given a chance to live again. I had the dark king use his power in making it possible."

"You can do that?" Nathalia was flabbergasted.

She knew they were powerful, of course, as compared to the humans, the dark and light forces are stronger. So she knew it was possible.

But what she did not expect was for the dark king to be the one to use his power in doing so.

"He broke the contract first."

The content was simple.

They are not to get involved with the human world. The world that suffered from the war between them all this time. And if one side were to witness that the other had gotten involved, then they are stripped off half of their power while using their own power to restore the damage they had caused.

This was made after a long talk, especially when the human world almost went extinct and the balance of the world was almost broken causing their existences to almost disappear as well.

That is the main reason why the contract was made.

Who would have thought that the dark forces will have other thoughts. Using the flaw in the contract they themselves have insisted, the part about witnessing, and letting the light force fall into deep slumber, the human world became the playground of the dark force.

"They won't be able to do anything for thousands of years to come since most of their power were used up due to us witnessing them playing around. And they even took one of ours into their world. Together with the other humans, they had done a taboo one. It will be peaceful for the humans for a good while," the king explained to her.

Nathalia looked at him thinking about the fact that this is her father.

If compared, the light forces are of the same features as the humans, the only difference is that humans can't look directly at them. Their brightness will cause the humans to burn up.

The king's eyes were moving from side to side, the longer she stares at him with a blank look on her face.

He is very much guilty of the fact that he left his only child to the human world for the sake of balance. In order to stop the dark forces for whatever they are planning.

"You are... my father."

The king swallowed hard, "That would be correct."

"And you are the king of the light forces."

"Yes."

"Was that some kind of trial for me? Dropping me off the human world to protect them?"

"No!!"

The king was flustered by her question.

"No, that was not a trial and if I had a choice I really wouldn't have let you live in suffering. You are my precious daughter but time does not permit me to have any other choice. You are the only one who was not bound by the contract, understanding that the dark force pulled a fast one on us. I could only send you down so we could keep the balance by not allowing the dark force to triumphantly step on the humans. And..."

He sighed, "They may be powerless as compared to the two other forces. But what they have is life. I was already regretful enough that their world turned to become the battleground of the light and dark forces ending so many lives. I did not wish that because of our carelessness, they would lose once again."

Nathalia looked at him for a good while.

Fiere and the few others around were nervous as to how she will react with this.

Their king spoke with honesty, that was indeed the decision he made and the desire he had back then.

As they all slowly lose their consciousness, with difficulty he chose to send his daughter down.

The one that was not bound by the contract.

"If you had told me that you simply sent me down to save the humans from the dark force then I would have replied that I don't wish to see you ever again."

The king's face fell instantly.

His hands trembled at the thought of such words being said to him by her.

"But... you showed me that you genuinely care for the humans. Ripping your heart in order to send me down to save them and keep the balance."
