"Aren't we getting tired of this already?" Saphira started when she met her reflection after being enveloped by darkness.
Her reflection no longer had the smug look it had been having during their first meetings. But now, it was simply looking at Saphira.
"Hey, since we are all over those stupid regrets and guilt and darkness in me, how about you bring me over to another place?"
The reflection frowned.
"You know the place I got into the very first time I was able to overcome you. The place connected to that person, there's something I don't understand about it so I wish to go there as well. But this time the real truth and not simply the memory."
The reflection scowled.
"Well, even if you didn't want to bring me then I can simply go there on my own through you. His emotions are quite heightened at the moment, there's nothing you can do about it," Saphira continued her monologue since her reflection decided not to speak with her.
"Even if you try to run, I can just capture and that's it. So what do you think? The easy way or the hard way?"
Her reflection stared at her for a good while before finally opening its mouth.
"Are you not bothered about your team?"
Saphira raised an eyebrow, she didn't expect that this one would actually ask her a question of curiosity. All this time, she was used to it coming at her with attacking her negative emotions.
Maybe because she had been defeating it all this time, it got tired of trying to go against her now.
Saphira smiled, "Bothered? Are you referring to the word worry? Am I not worried about them?"
The reflection just frowned.
Saphira shook her head, "Why should I? I know they would be able to overcome this. I was worried at first when I didn't realize that he actually planted so much darkness in us. That is because if we were to be under this attack, then our physical body would be open for attack. But seeing that even with the span of time and I am still feeling alright, then he was not planning on doing anything else."
She looked up, acting like she was thinking deeply when the answer had long been with her.
"It means, the dark lord was actually aiming for our bodies as well. If we were to be taken to his side then wouldn't that give him the absolute power over the world?"
The reflection didn't react.
"If that is the case then I don't need to worry. Those guys are capable enough in handling this situation, after all we have been through, do you guys really think that they are that weak? And even if they fall, I know our memories are enough to pull them back up. I don't need to worry."
The reflection's eyes shifted, they had been watching this person for so long already. And they couldn't understand why such a person exists. No matter what they do, she does not fall, she simply slips and would instantly go back up most of the time, all on her own.
Saphira watched the reflection turn into a smoke of darkness before it turned into a shape of a portal.
Saphira knew the reflection actually did as she asked. She walked through the portal but before she completely walked through it, she heard the reflection speak.
"The brighter you are, the more visible you become."
She turned around but she was already in a different point in the darkness. The reflection that used its power to let her thought must already be gone.
Though baffled, there is something she has to do at the moment.
She looked back at the memory in front of her.
When she first encountered darkness, it was when she fell into coma and before she met with Vermilion Bird inside her, giving him all the mana she has.
She was met with her own darkness and what allowed her to understand how to battle against it. After she overcame her first darkness, her consciousness was not sent out. Instead she was brought to a different memory.
A memory of a certain man.
He was a knight who did everything for his country.
While he fought as much as he can, the people ignored his efforts.
He helped train other knights but once they got out under his wing, they left him on his own, ignored him even.
During battles, he was to fend off the beasts on his own while the rest worked together on another side.
While he was gravely injured while trying to save a friend and the friend was hurt on the leg, the people of the kingdom was more worried about the friend. Worrying about his leg while this man had to look for help on his own.
This same friend even snatched the woman he loved away from him.
And the last was on his deathbed, he was all on his own. Dying as a forgotten knight.
With that, he vowed. He will return,
And when he do, everyone will bow down to him.
They won't have any choice but to take notice of him and they won't be able to ignore him no matter where he goes.
Black smoke erupted from his body and chaotically surrounded him causing explosion on his house.
The next time he opened his eyes, they were purple and his golden hair turned black.
His skin turned pale and one would feel death on his aura.
This is the day that the dark lord rose from a knight who was once fighting against darkness.
That was the memory that Heather received when she first encountered the darkness inside her.
And that is that same place she asked her reflection to bring her this time around.
Somehow, when the dark lord's emotions were high, his dark attack would connect to his emotions and it allowed Heather to pass through it.
With a deep breath, she walked over and started watching the memories in front of her.
