CHAPTER 270: Chuckled While Shaking His Head

On the other hand, Felix continued courting Stormie.

She also gradually got used on the different presence he was giving her but she remained uncertain as to what she feels for him.

She was also feeling distressed over the fact that Nixon was obviously keeping his distance from her.

The two of them has a synergy that is close to Hunter and Saphira's synergy, so she was used in doing things with him.

Yet Nixon seemed to want to do things on his own as of this moment.

She can't even playfully argue with him because somehow, during these past few days, Nixon was too serious when facing her.

Felix was aware of how she was being affected with Nixon's attitude.

He took this chance to try and speak with him with the pretense of sparring with him.

"You seem to be distancing yourself a bit from Stormie," he went straight to the point as their swords clashed.

Nixon's movement stopped for a bit before he pushed him away and jumped backwards to have some distance between the two of them.

Felix didn't allow him to move further back as he rushed up to him.

Nixon used his momentum to rush towards him as well, catching Felix off guard that he could only jump to the side when Nixon's sword came slicing down in front of him.

It was Nixon's turn to chase after him.

Their movements were sharp, and their arms and legs were fast, there were no wasted movement either.

This was what Saphira had been telling them all this time, that there shouldn't be a single wasted move when they are attacking and defending.

After the tiring exchange between the two of them.

"You didn't answer my question," Felix repeated.

Nixon looked at him and shrugged with his nonchalant attitude, "I have things I want to improve on my own as well. We can't always be working together especially when everything was still unknown towards the future of this battle."

Well he was indeed working his own strength out but part of it was the fact that just like Saphira, he too was jealous.

Yes he was admitting it now, he was jealous.

The irritation he had been feeling since Draco Empire was actually because of his own jealousy.

He was so used at bickering with Stormie that he didn't even realize his feelings towards her had changed already.

If it wasn't for the appearance of Felix he wouldn't know about it at all.

"You know it feels like you were much more distant now if I compare it to someone who was simply trying things out on his own," Felix couldn't help but to comment.

Nixon chuckled while shaking his head, "You really should just focus on your own interest rather than wonder about other things."

After that, he didn't stay any longer and left Felix alone.

Felix felt that something was wrong with the way Nixon spoke but he couldn't point it out. He could only leave the matter behind for lingering on it will only make matters complicated, especially when the person involved wasn't even trying to do anything about it.

"I'm amazed you were able to speak such words in a composed manner."

Nixon turned to see Ridge.

"What do you want me to say to him them?" Nixon asked with a shrug.

Ridge shook his head, "Nothing, I just thought you would snap just like in the past days when you still haven't figured things out."

"It already came from you, I haven't figured it out yet but I know now. As I watched Saphira for the past few days, I came up with my own answer."

"And so you chose to stay away from her instead?" Ridge asked as he followed him in getting a drink for himself.

"I want to watch for now, see how things will unfold between the two of them," he answered truthfully.

"But wouldn't that be already too late for you?"

Nixon shook his head, "You have seen her. As compared to Saphira and Willow who could still remain composed, Stormie was the complete contrast, she would be flustered and be unable to focus. If I were to add to Felix, wouldn't that just shout for disaster?"

Thinking about it, Ridge understood where Nixon was coming from.

If they were simple people, he would have told her his feelings already and be Felix's rival but they were not simple.

They hold the biggest mission, with all the things that are happening, it was obvious that not just Stormie but the others may be placed in danger as well.

Nixon chose to take a step back in order not to cause damage to their group, even though he knew that there is a chance that he will let go of the love he just found out.

Ridge laughed before messing with his hair, "I must say you really have matured a lot.'

Nixon swatted his hand away before glaring at him, "Shut up."

That's all he could say because he has no rebuke about it.

He was always playful and was always going on and on with his emotions.

But as they travelled together, he watched the rest fall and get hurt. Watched them feeling jealous and hurting the other, getting mad.

They were placed in different kinds of emotions and he, who watched understood how impactful emotions are in their life.

Especially on thier daily living.

"If I don't mature while all of you kept growing and maturing, how will I support you then?" he asked in a serious tone.

Ridge stopped looking at him teasingly, the burden of a healer is still big.

Being unable to heal because of being distracted, how will he face that then?

Nixon was in reality, the one who held the second greatest responsibility within their group, while Saphira holds the greatest.

A healer needs to keep on healing.

But if he remained playful, always being distracted by his emotions, then how will he keep on doing that?

Ridge no longer said anything, nor did he tease him.
