CHAPTER 268: It Was Just Right

"I was tired, that was the truth but my pride just won't let me speak about it. I am honest with my feelings but the extent, I wasn't completely honest by it."

She didn't let him go as she kept talking.

"So I made a gamble, if I lose my memories would the me without them understand what I want and be able to openly tell you all what is going on within me?"

She released him and cupped his face with both her hands this time.

She smiled at him while her eyes glistened, "And she did, she perfectly did. And I am glad because I was once again released by another shackle. The shackle of being too responsible. I couldn't cry because of the psychological shackle I was given but I couldn't completely let go and be true to myself because of my own shackle."

She pursed her lips, "I wasn't really being honest and I realized that when I was finally able to cry again. It was something I actually didn't know about all this time, I had somehow subconsciously believed that I was already being open but I was not."

Hunter finally moved, he slowly reached out and cupped her face the same way she was doing.

"I'm sorry," was the first words he had spoken.

She smiled and shook her head, "You have apologized more than enough and you have repented more than enough."

Of course she was well aware of how Hunter had been looking within this seven days.

He was both guilty and sad, there was also loneliness.

He had been blaming himself all this time and she didn't want that.

Even though she had asked him back then in grievance why he had promised and yet she was hurt, that was only because her emotions were heightened, she really has no desire of blaming him.

"Listen Hunter, I was hurt but in return because of my decision, you were also hurt, blaming yourself nonstop about me losing my memories. So let's stop it now, hmmm?"

Without intending to, a tear dropped from her eyes, "Let's stop hurting each other now. Let's be happy instead..."

Hunter gritted his teeth before pulling her into a tight hug.

"Yes, let's just be happy. Let us not experience what the other have..."

When she spoke about being happy, he understood what she meant by saying that they should be happy instead.

She didn't want them to be just like Raynisha and Ardel that in the end, their happiness couldn't be fulfilled.

Even before that tragedy, their relationship had deteriorated a lot and Saphira had noticed it.

Saphira sobbed, "We seriously caused too much trouble."

He chuckled but simply hugged her a lot tighter before turning serious and pulling away.

He cupped her cheeks and stared straight in her eyes.

"I love you Saphira, more than anyone else. And every single day, I just keep falling in love with you. Even though you are lacking and you are keeping so many things, bottling everything up on your own, I will patiently wait for you to speak about it and I will not stop loving you. I have hurt you now and I swear to myself I never wanted to see that kind of look from you again. Never again."

Tears flowed from her eyes.

They have never spoken these words before.

They cared, yes.

They worry, yes.

They get hurt, yes.

They get jealous, yes.

But not once did they say these words to one another because they felt like it was not yet the time for it.

But then when? When was the time?

When they already lost each other?

So why not now?

Why don't they just be open now?

"I love you Saphira," he repeated.

She laughed tearfully, "I love you too-"

The moment her last word dropped, Hunter pulled her close and kissed her pationately.

All the feelings that couldn't be explained in words were instead left to this kiss.

It was bitter and sweet with a bit of saltiness due to her tears.

Nevertheless, even with these conflicting emotions, they knew it was right

It was just right.

When they parted, they were panting but they were smiling, a smile that reached the depths of their eyes.

"I love you," they mutter at the same time before hugging one another once again.

Their hearts beating that same rhythm, giving them calmness and security.

There's nothing stopping them now, because everything was now out in the open.

They will only care for each other while they pushed through with their battles, reaching that peace they all are aiming for.

"One more day..."

He frowned upon hearing her words.

"Give me one more day of rest then I'll really be back."

Before he could react, her body went limp.

But before he started worrying, Vermilion Bird finally came out of her.

"She'll just sleep, the memories are slowly returning to her and so her mental strength would surely be affected."

Hunter heaved a sigh of relief before carrying her up.

"She had been through so much and was still going on through a lot of uncertainties. But I trust you were already changed by the events that just occured, be stronger for her Qirin's brat."

Resolve appeared in Hunter's eyes, "With everything I've got. I'll be her greatest support."

Vermilion Bird nodded but as Hunter started walking back, Qirin stayed behind with him.

Hunter didn't ask anything and left the two of them on their own.

"So you could have come out but you chose not to," Qirin started.

"I am fulfilling her wish, what else do you expect me to do?" Vermilion Bird replied.

"We were all on edge," Qirin said.

"We are not stupid enough as to actually leave when the battle had seriously just started."

Qirin looked at him, "Are you planning to answer my question now?"

With Vermilion Bird's reminder of Saphira still facing difficulties, he had remembered the question that was left hanging the day Saphira was injured.

Vermilion Bird glanced at him, "My answer will remain the same."

After that he left, Qirin was close to getting the answer, with just one more push, he knew he will find it.

But somehow he couldn't bring himself to push through, he was subconsciously denying it before he understand what answer he was trying to get.
