CHAPTER 230: Both Of You Calm Down

"Hmmm, something changed within your friend," Light spoke to Saphira, she had come out and was watching the fire burning alongside Saphira.

"It seems he came up with an answer for his hatred," Saphira replied.

Saphira paid a lot of attention towards those who are closest to her.

"It started off with the first three, then at Willow who started forgetting her prejudice because of her admiration towards you when you saved her in your empire. And now this..."

Saphira furrowed her brows, "You knew of those things?"

"Hmmm? Oh haven't I told you? I am also taking in the darkness from them. The darkness from those closest to the host is the easiest to take in."

Just as how she had been changing the people from the empire, little by little and taking in their darkness, Saphira knew that the darkness in her friends were being made the same.

"That's not what I mean..."

"Oh, you're talking about the events? Well I had been waiting to meet you for so long. I am aware of how things are going on around you ever since I became an egg. I can't see you of course but i am aware that I had been looking forward to our meeting."

She had been commenting every now and then about meeting Saphira and the way she would change the people around her without really using light to take away the darkness from them.

"I see," Saphira reacted weakly.

She was simply curious about the words, she wasn't really so curious as to understand the workings of the spirit of light.

"Hey Light," she instead called returning her eyes on the fire surrounding them.

"Hmmm?"

"Light is too redundant when I talk about the ability, can I just call you Lily?"

Light looked back at her and blinked, "Well I guess it is not that bad."

She did remember that Saphira had called her Phoenix, Fifi.

"Then how about Vermilion Bird?"

Vermilion Bird, who remained inside Saphira, frowned.

"I already have one, we simply don't talk too much that I barely had the chance to use it."

"Oh what is it?" Lily became curious.

"Minmin." ***

Before Lily could react, Vermilion bird suddenly came out.

"WHAT THE HELL WAS THAT!?!?!?!"

"Oh you're awake," Saphira didn't even bother with his fuming lake.

"What do you mean Minmin? Where did the M came from?" Vermilion Bird couldn't accept it.

This is disgraceful.

He will lose face in front of the rest if she were to call him that.

"Our past kingdom was named after you, Vermin Kingdom. I couldn't think of any other nickname for you and then it came up. So now you are Minmin."

"I REJECT."

"Rejection over ruled, you are not the one calling yourself Minmin, I am. So why are you being agitated?"

"You are not the one being called Minmin, I am. So I have the right to reject it."

"You won't even put an effort in it. You don't have to utter the word, it is me who will have to put on the effort. So you have no right to Reject."

Vermilion bird squinted his eyes, "I will never respond to you."

"You don't have to but I will still call you."

Vermilion Bird glared at her but she didn't back down and looked straight in his eyes as well.

"What's going on?"

"We are having a staring contest," Saphira replied.

"I mean why are you having a staring contest in the middle of a burning kingdom?"

"Because Minmin started it."

"What do you mean I started it? You are doing something I don't like and- WHY THE HELL DID YOU JUST CALL ME MINMIN?!?!?"

"See you reacted to Minmin, which means you like it," Saphira grinned.

"STOP CALLING ME MINMIN!!!!" Vermilion Bird felt exasperated.

"Again why are you fighting?"

"We are arguing," she replied.

"Yeah, well why are you arguing in the middle of a burning kingdom?"

"Because Minmin started it," she remained staring at Vermilion Bird.

"I told you I didn't start it, it was you who are doing something- STOP CALLING ME MINMIN!!!!"

"I told you, you like Minmin, you are reacting to it."

"Okay calm down, both of you calm down."

That's when Saphira and Vermilion bird stopped glaring at one another and realized that Saphira had been talking with a different voice than Lily.

"Mom!! Dad!! Grandpa!!"

Saphira rushed to them after seeing them.

She jumped and hugged her mother before her father hugged the two of them.

Asherton placed a hand on her back.

She took a deep breath before closing her eyes.

She can feel that the fire protecting Carmilla wasn't enough to stop her from feeling the heat as they stood in the middle of the burning kingdom.

With a thought alone, her own fire spread toward Carmilla.

And the discomfort Carmilla had felt disappeared instantly.

Not only that but she felt lighter as well, at the same time comforting.

"Hmmm your fire is comforting," she said after releasing Saphira.

"You have heard right?"

She gestured towards Lily who had been there but was completely ignored.

"Oh, the light ability?" Carmilla looked at Lily and smiled.

"You're so cute."

"Thank you," Lily replied with a giggle.

"Seeing you now, I guess you are doing better," Archie said rubbing her head.

"I am not but I can only move forward. At the same time your appearance feel so warm. I had been thinking of what to do or how to feel but in the end, I can only go on."

"Oh my darling."

Carmilla pulled her for another hug.

Asherton was silently grateful for the character of Vermilion Bird.

If not for that Saphira would be wallowing that is for sure.

But because he was there to distract her, she can think differently.

Unbeknownst to him, this was simply Saphira's character and Vermilion Bird has nothing to do with it.

She may be down now but she will surely rise back up even if others weren't there for her.

She grew to become like this.
