"The same with a lamp being fueled by gasoline. The more gasoline the brighter it is. But gasoline could still be used for other things," Saphira gave him an example seeing him being a bit confused.
"And just as how you can control the fire on the lamp with your hands, you can do it as well in the gasoline."
Felix nodded, "Therefore mana could be used as a fuel for something else. And just as how abilities could be passed, mana could be as well."
Saphira nodded, "The more compatible an ability is to what you already have, the easier it is to control. But it is easier for you to control the same ability as what you have."
"I'll be controlling yours?" he asked getting what she meant.
Saphira nodded her head, "I have to do something else during that time but we need all the leading abilities in this barrier. And that is where you will enter."
Felix took a deep breath, this is indeed a difficult task to have.
"We will start with you trying to control my fire," Saphira said bringing out a little fire through her fore finger.
"How did you do it with Stormie's?" she asked again.
"At first it was truly impossible but as we kept going and then Stormie remembered how you explained it during your childhood. That what I'll try to control is the aura surrounding the ability with my own aura."
Saphira nodded her head.
Ability is the physical representation of one's power, it is like the body.
Mana is like the heart that makes it possible to use the power.
Aura is the soul, it is what controls the ability. It is also what makes one realize that an attack is coming from behind.
"I have a question though," Felix asked before Saphira continued.
"If one could control a power different from their's then wouldn't it be something oof great use?"
"No, it takes time to do it and takes a lot of energy to do so."
She raised her finger that a fire, the size of a fire in a candle, still lingers.
"Now, just as how you did it with Stormie, try doing it with this one."
Felix took a deep breath and looked at the fire intently, very slowly he was able to see the aura surrounding it.
Then using his own thread like fire laced with its own aura, he allowed it to connect to the aura in the fire at Saphira's finger.
The connectionw as established and he was able to move the little fire to his own finger.
He blinked, he was stunned.
"Easier?" Saphira asked seeing his bewildered look.
He nodded his head.
"It is because the powers were of the same element. Now..."
She raised her hand and a ball of fire appeared on it.
Felix controlled his thread and did the same, though it was still easier as compared with Stormie, it was a new level higher than the fire a while ago.
The concentration of seeing the aura as he kept controlling is indeed taxing to the mind energy.
Once he was able to transfer the ball of fire to his hand and started moving it around Saphira nodded her head.
"Now, look at the auras closely."
Felix did as he was told.
"What can you see about our auras?"
It took a while of concentration, "It seems they are blending."
Saphira nodded again, "That is where you will have to train before we move on to the mana."
He looked at her in furrowed brows.
"In a puppet show, the puppeteer uses threads to move the puppets body. But what you are currently doing is like putting on a puppet gloves."
Saphira thought for a bit as her eyes glazed over before she asked, "Have you heard of the capability to control someone with the same ability as you but is far weaker than you?"
Felix thought back before nodding.
This case was actually something the whole world tried their best to eliminate.
Because a lot of bad people had used this kind of thing to make use of others in doing bad things.
Of course their mind was intact but they can't control their bodies.
"A living person could be controlled using this method but they can still control themselves but a dead person could be controlled but they won't be able to do it themselves and very slowly the strength from them would be weaker."
Saphira paused and thought more before continuing, "When you put on a puppet glove, your whole hand will be moving, spending more nergy than when you attached strings and your fingers move it."
"Then moving a dead body uses more energy than moving a living one," Felix said.
Saphira nodded, "I already told you, what you need to do is much more complicated and difficult than the rest."
Felix swallowed hard, it was already difficult enough for him to concentrate in moving the aura of a different ability.
"What I want you to do is control the mana but without allowing yours to incorporate with it."
What they needed in the barrier is a mythological beast's power that the host uses, it should be of pure one.
Seeing as he was pondering so much about it, Saphira smiled and placed a hand on his shoulder, "Just think about it for now. Half a day and you can already do this much means you will be able to do it in the near future. Rest for the day."
Felix sighed, there was too much information he had to take in, he could only do as she had said.
That night, all other customers were brought to a different inn and the inn they are at was paid by the palace in order to accomodate the eight of them properly.
Saphira already informed Nathalia about Felix's arrival.
Which means they are the only ones using that inn that they had a room for themselves.
After that, knights were sent over to guard the place so that no one would disturb them.
