A different dimension

1900 years

During the past week Samurai had been busy in the witchs' library searching for the powerful witch's journal. He was desperate and needed to find that journal. It was the only way they could restore the bond after the child is born. But the actual question was does the journal contain spells and rituals about bonds and if it truly exists.

It was based on a childhood memory of his uncle talking about how to break and form bond spells and he said the powerful witch had a journal which contained those rituals. But his uncle himself wasn't sure because there hasn't been proof of the powerful witch's journal. He never came to meet the acclaimed powerful witch but he did hear stories about her. Over the decades stories of her disappeared like dust. He sighed at his fruitless impetuous search.

Walking to the next shelf, a grey old dusty book piqued his interest. He sat down on the floor, crossing his legs. He used his robe sleeves to dust the soft cover of the book revealing the title 'the unknown and the unseen'.  After a few hours of reading, he regretted from the time he suggested the witch's journal to the days confined by the walls of the library.

He stood up with annoyance drawn on his face. He placed the book back onto the shelf and cleaned his palm on his silky royal robe. The book was about the realm of dead souls and it was all theories because no one had ever gone to the realm of dead souls and had returned to give tales about it. His vigorous hope and curiosity diminished slowly in these fruitless searches over the weeks. 'He was going to return back to the mountains discouraged and dejected again today.' He said to himself.

He walked the empty walls of the dark library, although the library had a lot of wood torches it wasn't enough to illuminate the whole library. But his dragon eyes paid useful attention and saw clearly where there wasn't much light. Suddenly he felt weird then the air around him became thick and heavy with fog. Samurai looked round about him and was met with only his shadow. Then a powerful wind from nowhere blew past him, making him stumble backwards, falling down on the stairs. Then he felt a strong force in the room.

"Giving up so soon Ametris!" A metallic voice cracked down with laughter. 'Ametris' was the name of his ancestor; the first pure dragon lord.

Rumours speculated that Ametris was forged from the fire of the underworld in the realm of dark souls by the Creator himself. It was rumoured that the name alone carried great powers and can't be spoken by any supernatural being except celestial beings unless the rumours were wrong because this force spoke its name.

"Who are you?" Samurai choked on the fog that filled the air.

"You won't find what you seek here!" the voice said harshly ignoring his question. He was certain the force with him in the room wasn't of their realm. Because no one of their realm held such power, not even the Oracle and he definitely knew the Oracle's voice. This voice held a sinister tone.

"How do you know what I seek?" Samurai coughed out as he felt his vision begin to blur. He knew whatever compound was in the fog was making his dragon weak and right now the only thing keeping him alive was his second form which was his human skin.

An eerie laughter nearly bled into Samurai's ears, "I know everything!"  the laughter died down and he felt his eyes closing. The fog was clearing but he still felt very weak and so did his dragon.

"He shall not pay heed to him. Find what you seek and save me. Save me! Save me! Time is no favourable companion. Save me and my body only then shall I be free from the underworld." A voice whispered with pain and sorrow in his ears unlike the first which was full of hate.

"W-who are.." the rest of the words died on his tongue as his consciousness was lost to an oblivion of darkness.

Samurai felt his soul being transported into a different dimension and in a different body. He was falling from one portal to another nonstop and a faceless shadow screaming saved me. He needed to get out of there but he didn't know how he got there in the first place. He couldn't feel his dragon powers or senses. The next portal he had fallen into was empty except he could see the red moon unlike the others that were dark.

As he was falling, another portal appeared. He could hear familiar voices reaching out to him. His body was nearing the portal but soon his skin began to fade. He saw his body turning to dust before his eyes yet the voices from the portal kept calling him.

"Samurai!" Cold water splashed against cold warm skin causing him to jolt awake. He looked at his surroundings which wasn't empty but held a sense of familiarity to it. His gaze travels to the door and remains there waiting to see if another portal will open.

"Samurai!" A hand gripped his shoulder shaking him to reality. He turned his gaze from the door to meet Nikolai and his sister's face looking worried.

Lamisi moved to touch her brother's face, "are you alright?"

Seeing familiar faces, hearing their voices and feeling her touch brought a sense of relief to his heart. He was no longer trapped in a different world. His dragon reached out to him and a sigh escaped from his lips. His dragon was back. Nikolai and Lamisi exchanged strange glances at each other. Both eyes held the same message 'Samurai was acting strange' and their thoughts were right when they saw Samurai spring back to life, he looked lost like he wasn't in their realm and kept watching the door like something was going to come through it before sighing with relief when he saw their faces.

Nikolai furrowed his brows when he watched Samurai touching himself and looking at his arms and legs in a strange way. Like he couldn't believe he could feel his body. His hands moved to touch the bed underneath him and sighed with relief again. 'Has Samurai gone mad?' He asked himself. But supernatural creatures can't go mad like humans so what in the Demon's realm happened to his friend.

"My skin!" It was a faint whisper coming from Samurai as he touched his face, neck and arms again.

"Is everything okay Brother?" The worried sister could not help but ask again.

"I think the right question is what happened to you?" Nikolai chimed in.

"I-I d-don't know!" He stammered, blinking his wide eyes like he was afraid if he closed it he would disappear.

With a frustrated grunt, Nikolai shook Samurai by the shoulders, "Snap out of it!"

"Carefully Nikolai! He hit his head pretty hard. He might have a concussion." Lamisi yelled worriedly, pulling Nikolai away from her brother.

"My friend, what happened to you?" Nikolai hugged himself from the cold.

"I don't know! I was leaving the library next I knew I was in a different dime.." He couldn't finish his words as he collapsed back into the bed.

Lamisi reached out quickly to feel his pulse and check his heart beat. "Well?" Nikolai asked with a raised brow.

"I think he's having a concussion!" She stated facing the king.

"How is that even possible? He is a royal dragon born, he should not be having a concussion." Nikolai stated, clearly reminding her.

"Get him a healer quick!" Nikolai barked at her when he saw his friend convulsing as he laid lifeless on the bed.

Samurai had woken up the next day but hid himself in solitude, trying to compose his thoughts which was making his head throb with pain. 'How did he hurt himself?' He asked no one in particular as he touched the bandage around his head. Whatever that happened to him had entangled his mind. He knew what he felt was real. That place, the faceless shadow he heard, the portals, his skin eating away, they all felt real. But he didn't remember hurting himself which meant what happened to him at the library was responsible for his bleeding head and not being in a different dimension. What happened in the library suddenly dawned on him. The strong wing, the poisonous fog and the strong force he felt in the room before fell down the stairs and the feminine voice seeking his help. Although he didn't remember hitting his head when he fell, he had concluded that he must have hit his head hard when he fell down the stairs but was too preoccupied trying to figure out what force tortured him to madness to feel the pain.

"How is he?" Nikolai asked Lamisi with concern.

"I don't know my King!" She sighed, walking towards the edge of the cave.

"What do you mean you don't know?" Nikolai bombarded the tired Dragon heiress.

"He has isolated himself! No one has seen or spoken to him. He had refused to give ears or eyes to anyone that wished to speak with him, not even the healer." She retorted with another heavy sigh.

"At least he was no longer unconscious but I still worry about him. He seemed lost and scared yesterday which was unlike him. Whatever that happened in the library was more than just a fall and a bump on the head. We must find out what happened." Nikolai yanked her left arm.

"But what was he searching for in the library?" Lamisi gazed at the King Alpha.

"Didn't he tell you?" he replied with a question.

Lamisi shook her head, "no, he doesn't speak on matters of the council with me." She said truthfully.

"Why?" He asked dumbfounded.

Shrugging, "he says I'm not ready."

"I want to see him!" He said, determined.

"I doubt he would see you but anyway follow me." She said and turned into her dragon. She flew away towards their mountain with Nikolai behind her.

"Samurai, my friend opened up." Nikolai called for the second time but there wasn't any response from the inside.

He was beginning to shiver from the cold mountainous halls, "I will freeze to death if you leave me out here." Nikolai said hugging himself tightly.

"Samurai!" He pounded on the door with his fist, "I know you are in there." He grunted but still nothing.

"Lilian would murder you when she comes back and finds out I froze to death!" He said in a mocking tone, "at your door." He added smugly.

Damn Samurai was stubborn but isn't every dragon, he thought.

A thought crossed his mind and an evil smirk appeared on his lips. He knew what the Dragon lord had been searching for in the library and he was going to use it to his advantage. "You won't believe what I found in the library. It was the powerful witch's journal." He finished saying with a full grin across his face.

The door abruptly opened with Samurai standing by it with shock but soon disappeared and turned into anger when he saw the smug look on the King's face. "You tricked me!" and he shut the door in the King's face. Nikolai's demon mocked him at his failed attempt but his wolf was pissed at the dragon lord's blatant disrespect even though he was head leader of the council, he was still the oldest in age on the council.

In a different realm.

"You think he can save you!" His sinister voice reverberated throughout the emptiness of the underworld.

"Yes, he will save me!" She spat out more blood as another hand slapped her face, sending her across the burning walls. She fell back into the burning pit.

Screaming from the burning sensation, "he will save me. He's my mate!" She managed to cry out through the pain.

"Your mate is dead!" He yelled back in anger and the whole place shook causing the burning pit to blaze more flames.

"Do not reproach him ever again. Your attempt to find freedom by bringing him nearer was very clever on your path but you see his mind cannot bear it. He is trying to understand what he felt but slowly losing to the shackles of insanity. He w...."

"You lie!" she screamed from below as she watched him standing on the highest burning wall covered by his large black wings like a bat.

"See for yourself!" he shouted and a portal opened revealing Samurai sitting on a bed with his legs stretched and eyes on the door looking lost and scared as if he was waiting for something to appear from the door.

"I told you." He laughed, "he thinks another portal is going to open. Your so-called beloved is lost to insanity. He is weak and no mate of yours. Believe that you are never leaving this place! Because your mate is dead. He is not Ametris!" He shouted with venom looking down at her and then the portal disappeared.

She felt the pang of guilt at the calamity her actions had caused to the dragon. Soon she felt her skin burning to her soul and the immense pain she felt could only be expressed through her screams and cries.
