Brutality of Battle

The sight before Dalevoro was a cruel one, but one he was accustomed to. The Ogre wondered off deeper into town. It appears that the only purpose they served was to break the wall, as they were being left to their own devices now. No other smaller creatures followed them, they were off looting and burning the town. That means Dalevoro would only have to focus on this one target. The Ogre didn't notice him, and simply kept demolishing the house. He used this as an opportunity to dash forwards, towards his legs. His running was muffled by the burning buildings and the smashing of the Ogre. Within seconds he reached the Ogre, and thrusted his sword into the dog sized foot. The sword shredded the tough skin and stopped upon hitting bone. The beast stumbled and roared in pain. Looking down he saw his attacker, and swung his hands low trying to kill the small man. However, Dalevoro was quick on his feet, and leapt backwards barely avoiding the swing. The force of the wind from the swing almost took him off balance, but he stood in defiance. He had the Ogre's attention now, he had to face it head on. It roared in rage, and charged. Dalevoro waited for it to draw near, and as soon as it came close he dodged to the right. His sword on the other hand, hit the Ogre cutting it's leg.

The beast tried to stand, but stumbled. This was Dalevoro's chance. He was the one charging this time, and he was aiming for a lethal spot this time. "Morgan!" He shouted. She was keeping quiet but showed herself to attack. She held out her hand, and formed a gust of wind at Dalevoro's feet. In an instant he shot up into the air. The feeling of being launched was an unexpected one, but he kept focused. He held his sword facing downwards, and used the speed of falling to thrust the sword into the beast's neck. The instant the blade entered, the beast roared. Dalevoro jumped off quickly, and ran towards Morgan. The Ogre held it's neck and walked to the group, but slowly fell down and went limp. It's lifeless body lay next to the burning flames of the building.

The two rushed quickly to the main battle, screams filled the air along with the sounds of battle. Before they reach Arthur, a new sound breaks. "Foul beast! You will regret the day you challenged the amazing, and handsome, Hubis!" Suddenly, three human sized creatures shot out of an alley, and slammed into a house. Out of the alley, the bard from before stood in a rather valiant pose. "Oh, you're that brute from before! Lucky that you didn't hurt me, or these villagers would be in trouble. Arnt I amazing?" Dalevoro looked unfazed by his words. "I could care less about being called a brute. Just make yourself useful bard." He said and walked towards the main fight. While he walked he gazed at the smaller creatures and realized they were human, or at least looked like them. He quickly looked back at the bard. "Come on." He turned and ran towards the main fight. Hubis with his mouth agape shook his head and followed. "I can't believe he would talk to me that way." He said with a puff.

The battle was still raging, but was close to ending. Arthur and his men fought bravely, but he was vastly outnumbered. The sound of metal and rending flesh filled the air. Smoke and blood overwhelmed the nose. This was battle. It wasn't a battlefield for the worthy, no, it was hell. Dalevoro took quick action and used his red necklace to shoot flames into the horde of the opposing army. The flames engulfed the flank, and the screams of people died out under the sound of flames. Many fell, but more quickly took their place. "Tch." That wouldn't do, there is too many. "Allow me." Hubis stepped forth, and ushered forth a gust of wind as he played his accordion. As he did so, Dalevoro pushed forth more flames. The wind grabbed the flames and blanketed them across many more foes. The horde thinned out, and many began to fall back. Through the now thinned crowd, Arthur's forces could be seen. Unfortunately, they're were not as many as before. Many had fallen in the battle, and only around thirty remained.

Dalevoro rallied with the remaining men. Arthur glared at him, but stowed it once more. This was a more pressing matter. He would deal with him later. "Men, this individual will assist us in our duty to protect this village. He will be under my command." The men's response was a prompt "Sir!". Arthur made his way over to Dalevoro and leaned closer to him. "Make sure to only use one magic. Unless you want them to discover what you are, Dragonkin." Hubis stepped forwards and spoke. "Ahem, I am the great Hubis valiant knight, the most entertaining entertainer in the land! I am not so much of a fighter, allow me to help the people of this village get to safety instead." Arthur chuckled, and spoke. "Very well." He walked past back towards his army. "Ready men? Their front line is broken, their will shattered. Make them pay for challenging Pravda!" The men cheered and ran forth towards the enemy. The men slammed into the enemy shields. The clang of steel filled the air. Outnumbered three to one, it was going to be a tough fight.

Arthur ran forth and thrust his sword forwards, impaling a foe rushing towards him. His next two foes flanked from both sides. By instinct he forced up a field of light, blocking both attacks. He grabbed the enemy's shoulder, and pulled him closer to him. Using this force, he thrust his sword through his foe. Blood coughed up from his mouth as he fell limp. The other foe attacked again, breaking the field. Arthur lunged forth, blocking yet another attack. Arthur used his free hand to punch the foe in the head. Dazed, the enemy stumbled back. Using the opportunity, he cut a slash across his throat. The foe grasped his neck, and fell down. Arthur looked forwards, and began to charge with his men.

Dalevoro went off on his own, along with Morgan. He traveled along the left flank, and soon foes charged after him. The first to arrive charged and swung. Dalevoro, a light fighter moved just to the right, avoiding the blow. Quicky, he trust his sword into his chest. Without hesitation, he quickly punched the opponent off the sword and onto the ground. Seeing this, three more charged him. He stood defensive, and blocked two attacks with his sword. The third foe thrust from behind, but was cut short by a shard of ice cutting through his neck. The attacker fell down, dying instantly. Dalevoro held back the two foes, and was losing ground. Quickly, he forced his sword into the foes armor, killing one. The other foe however, tried to attack while his sword was in the armor. Surprisingly, Dalevoro let go of his sword, and stepped back. He punched the enemy in the head, and grabbed him by the neck. Fire burst forth from his hands, engulfing his foe. He screamed and tried to get away, but it was to no avail. Soon he stopped moving, and Dalevoro let go. He showed no mercy, and pushed onwards.

The battle raged, but soon draws to it's close. Only a few remain. Arthur leads the charge, many of his men fell, only leaving four following him. The remaining enemy's began to retreat, to which Arthur's men began to charge after. However, Dalevoro stopped them. "Let them run, I'll send a scout to follow them. You all need to attend the villagers." The men looked angry, but did as was told. Arthur did the same, focusing on the people first and foremost. Dalevoro, to Arthur's surprise, joined and helped the village as well.

After many hours and the village seemed to be stable, Arthur approached Dalevoro. "I am loathe to say this to you of all people, but thank you." Dalevoro looks back, and speaks. "I'm just doing whats right." Arthur seemed offended. "What's right? Don't make me laugh. The crimes you have wrought upon the kingdom are not just!" Dalevoro didn't respond. "You deserve to be punished for your actions... But you have helped these people today, including my own. My honor is above all, so I will uphold it. I won't kill you like I intended, but you will face retribution." Dalevoro speaks up. "I fully expect to face punishment, in fact I want to face it. I see what I've done, and all these years I've done the best I can to be better. Before I can face punishment, I have but one thing to do. I must make sure she is safe." He says glancing to Morgan. "After that, I fully intend to face my fate. If you do try to stop me, I will retaliate." Arthur seemed stunned, he had a noble cause, which calmed him down. Hubis, with poor timing appeared to the group. "Salutations! I have just help- Oh, bad time? Yikes... Well then the great Hubis makes no mistakes!" Arthur then spoke. "Very well. I will aid you in this endeavor to keep her safe, however once that is complete, I will take you into custody myself." Dalevoro nods in agreement. "Allow me to join you! We shall be a merry little band, fighting evil with sword and song! Led by me, Hubis! It will make for such a great tale." Arthur turns, and heads to the nearest inn. There he begins to rest, a new fire was lit in his soul. A purpose was set before him, and fate has begun to be set in motion.
