Chapter 24: Solved Case: Cathlia

"Okay, we can't say it's them" the police officer said. I rubbed my face out of frustration and sighed, "Okay" I grabbed the marker and wrote on the white board. I wrote all the links that Lucia and George were the couple from 1998 that changed their name and possibly the person behind the mass kidnapping and Cathlia's death.

"Officer, look. On this 1997 newspaper article where Aurelia and Emerson were worshiping demons and can change themselves into something they like. Now, in 1998, where the couple was caught eating a human flesh and that time a lot of reports came of the disappearances of children. "

"And you're saying that the couple can be the one who is behind the disappearance of children?" the police officer asked.

"Yes and remember the 1998 newspaper article" I said as I put the newspaper article on the table in front of him, "They went for hiding and possibly change their name. The disappearance of the children stopped for 3 years."

"But we can't say it's them because of their faces." I pulled a photograph out of my bag. "This is Lucia, the mother of Cathlia" and hand him the photograph.

"They don't have the same fa-" I cut the police officer's sentence and walked to the board.

"Sir, look at the subtle hints. Let's rewind, it was said they worship demons and can change themselves into something they like so possible, they change their faces and name after being caught."

"Because to clean their reputation", Louie continued. I nodded and looked at the police officer. "But I don't believe they change their faces because they worship demons, believing to such a thing is not credible, it's too surreal. We can't also say that the media's words were credible "

"Okay, let's say you won't believe it since they worship demons and such a thing isn't credible enough, but we can say that they changed their faces by plastic surgery"

"But if they change their faces, they can be caught because they are in the 1998 newspaper article"

"Sir, they have a good reputation. They can do everything with power" The police officer was caught off guard of what I said and laid back. "Possible."

"And okay, after 3 years. The kidnapping stuff was done. Now, in 2006 another report came about kids' disappearance and bodies were found on the KirkView Hillside. Where is that woman lived on 2005?" I asked as I point on the photograph that the police officer is holding.

" At KirkView Hillside right?" Louie asked, leaning himself of the police officers desk. The police officer nodded, "Everything is fine not until Cathlia was found dead in the cliff. I asked a person who lived in the log cabin on the KirkView Hillside where I found that photo, evidence enough that Lucia lived on that log cabin. I asked the person if he has neighbors since he moved on that log cabin, but he claimed he doesn't have any neighbors"

"But it's possible that before the person came there, there were neighborhoods."

"On the 2005 newspaper, they were no neighborhood near the log cabin in the KirkView hillside."

"And I asked the person if he found any books or papers but he said they were burnt on the backyard. Now, remember on 2005, Cathlia was dragged and thrown in the cliff near the KirkView hillside. There were no fingerprints of the suspect. It was all planned."

"Now, you might be wondering why the couple didn't live there anymore after the incident? And before they left, why they burn the paper and books?"

"I don't have an idea"

"Because it's possible that they don't want to be traced that they were the couple from the 1998. And went for hiding again but not changing their name and pretended to sulk after their daughter's death." I said.

"But why would they killed their daughter?" I looked at the board and take a few minutes to answer. Why Cathlia was killed.?

"Seems you don'-"

"Its possible Cathlia forbids a rule or something. You know, kids love to explore things. And Cathlia was a 10-year-old girl so it's possible she is exploring some things and found out something that triggered Lucia. It's possible that Cathlia read something about them in the 1998 newspaper on the log cabin." I said, my hands on my chin explaining.

"Wanting to clean their name and hiding themselves from the society by changing their name and faces, they choose their reputation over their daughter thus getting rid of Cathlia and burning the papers and books so that no one can traced them."

I looked at the police officer and his face is stunned, "Are you okay, sir?"

The police officer blinked, "Yeah, was amazed for an 18-year-old like you having this theory. But I agree to your possible theories. It could be Lucia that killed Cathlia… but how would Lucia was killed?"

I paused and remember the evidences that I have. After the incident how Lucia was killed..? Did someone caught her.? I glanced at the newspaper and it hit me.

"Felicia killed them." Louie replied.

But why would Felicia killed them? The newspaper 1998 was exposed? Did Felicia knew about her mother and father were... someone who eats a human flesh?

It reminds that on the newspaper, it was said it's a parenticide and Felicia killed herself afterwards.

"Felicia killed them but... I need to find the side of Felicia. We can't say that it's still solved. "

"Oh, that SFX makeup artist? It is solved. It's parenticide. The crime scenes says it all."

Why would an police officer and the others keep saying it's solved…

"Forget it. Anyways, we solved this case. Thanks to you, kid. Great job" the police officer said as he stood up and shake my hand and Louie. "I'm going to write and tell the others that we knew the suspect and I would credit you for that" the police officer said as he went out.

"Sir!" I called out. "Yes?"

"Thank you and yes I solved Cathlia's case but I need to solve Felicia's case too and find the truth. We can't just listen to one side. "

Police officer scratches his head, "You don't need to. It is solved and that's done"

"Sir, I believe in my gut that it's not."

"You are one persistent kid, aren't you?" I only stand and look at him, "Fine, do what you want, kid but good luck!" and he went his way. It makes me wonder why even a police officer said it was solved.
