Chapter 3

Mihiro

Finishing her shift was simple enough or so she had thought it would be. Sure it was busy now and then and she found enough things to do to help pass the time. At least she thought things were going to be easy enough. Until he walked in again. Second time that day. She did recognize him, not just from earlier, but from years ago. It had just taken a little bit for her to figure it out.

She watched as he walked in then seemed to lose sight of him for a moment due to others she was helping. Her wolf self was not too pleased with losing sight of him, which was an unusual reaction. But she just put it down to the fact that they had been friends once. And being back home after so much loss had put her and her wolf self on edge lately. So maybe some familiarity was what was needed.

Kayos

Several moments had passed and he watched her deal with customer after customer. He was just waiting for the store to be empty from the crush of people. One of the other workers had shown up while he had been gone, he assumed that meant that her shift was almost over. So he waited and watched her.

The other woman that was working there with his woman kept looking over at him and he would send her glares of disgust. Perhaps another time he would have given the woman a thought or even a try, but now...

His eyes wandered back to the Mihiro, with her long moonlight colored hair as she bent down to grab the backpack she kept her things in. She was saying goodbye to her co worker and he took this as an opportunity to slip outside to wait for Mihiro.

Mihiro

Beth watched as the very attractive man left the store a frown on her face. He had just stood around the store looking at the newer girl.

"Beth?" Mihiro asked as she looked at the frown and the direction that her co worker had been looking in.

"Hm?" the other girl asked looking over to the one talking to her.

"Was there anything else you needed me to do before I go home?" Mihiro asked the question for the second time.

Beth shook her head and Mihiro in turn nodded her head then turned and began to walk away.

"He was watching you the whole time he was in here. Do you know him?" Beth asked referring to the handsome man.

Mihiro paused and nervously tucked her hair behind her ear before turning to look at the other girl. "I do. We were friends once. Maybe hes just in shock that I came back." She said before she turned and walked away indicating the conversation was over.

She walked outside and felt as if there were eyes following her. She paused and looked around her, it had only taken a moment and her eyes met the most gorgeous blue eyes. She stood frozen looking at him, unable to make herself turn away even as he smirked and began to walk toward her.

Once he was standing in front of her he looked down at her and smiled. "Hey." he said watching her begin to blush.

"Hey." she said responding shyly. She could feel the heat beginning in her cheeks indicating that she was starting to blush, which in turn embarrassed her slightly causing her blush to deepen a little.

"It's been a few years but do you need a ride home?" Kayos asked watching the girl look him in the eyes then blush more.

"I was going to walk." She said looking away from him before she blushed more and embarrassed herself.

"It's not an issue Mihiro." he said moving so he was standing beside her waiting for her to begin walking so he could indicate where his car was parked.

Mihiro cast a glance side ways and coyly looked up at him. Her different colored eyes meeting his very blue gaze. "You still remember where I live?" she asked as she took a step forward, not doubting for a moment that he indeed remembered where she lived.

Little did she know that after her grandmother had passed and before she had moved back Alpha Kayos here had pack members watching over the property. That is not to say he himself was not part of that, he very much was. Some times maybe more than he cared to admit to. "I do." he responded and then chuckled as she nodded her head.

"Of course you do. Who in the pack doesn't? The estranged old wolf and her pup of a granddaughter who preferred to live furthest they could from the pack." Mihiro said with a shrug of her shoulders.

"That isn't why I remember." he said chuckling again at her reaction to what he said. Her steps falter for a moment and she blushed.

She blushed from the unexpected reaction her body had to his words. Her pulse quickened and her stomach did little flips, that people often referred to as the feelings of butterflies. She wasn't even sure what his reason for not forgetting where she lived was. It could be any number of reasons.

"It isn't?" she asked as they kept walking side by side and he indicated to where his car was parked.

"No Mihiro, it isn't. Your grandmother helped me out over the years. Her knowledge was vast." he said walking up to his car, and waiting for her to approach.

"She really did know a lot." Mihiro said nodding her head as she walked over to where Kayos stood next to his car watching her approach. "So I can understand." she finished saying as she looked at him.

Kayos

He smirked as he watched her walk to the passenger side of the car. She had changed some what over the years she was gone. He noticed that Mihiro seemed a little more guarded, even if she didn't seem to notice that herself.

'What happened to you while you were gone?' he thought to himself watching her for a moment more before walking around the car and climbing into the drivers side. He could feel the wolf in him growing more impatient. She was after all his mate. The issue was, she didn't seem to have even noticed this yet though. So he had to wait. He cast a glance at her. And waiting he could do. He had been already for his mate.

"Mi?" he asked as he started the car and began to do all the things necessary to be on their way.

"Hm?" was her half response as she looked out the window.

"The pack has been outside of your property and noticed unknown and assumed rouge tracks." he said calmly even though when saying this he felt anything but calm.

The fact that any other wolf would dare to get so close to her, his woman, set his blood on fire. A rage building that he didn't know he would have over someone.

Out of the corner of his eye he saw her tense. "You guys have been around my property?" she asked her voice hardly above a whisper and not from fear. He could hear the anger in her. He also could tell she was trying to keep control.

"A deal we made with your grandmother my dear." Kayos responded as he got closer to her home.

"I don't know of anyone other than the pack that would be around the house and the property." Mihiro said rubbing the palm of her right hand on her right knee as if her palm were itchy.

He pulled into the drive way and up by her house. He shut off the car and looked over at her. "You should give me your number. I would suggest coming back to the alpha's house with me, but I know." Kayos said as he took his cell phone out of his pocket and waited for her number.

Mihiro rattled off her number and he entered it before putting his phone back in his pocket. "If you need me, message or call. That's all it will take." Kayos said watching as she went to get out of his car, he fortunately was graced with a very nice view of her bottom and that was pleasant.

"Thank you. For the ride home and the warning that there is someone unknown that has been wandering about, but I have taken care of myself for years." she responded before closing the car door and walking up to the front door of the house where she unlocked the door and went inside. He didn't leave until he was certain she had locked the door behind her.

Kayos pulled his phone out of his pocket and sent her a quick text.

Hey darling, it's Kayos.
