In the City of Crime, one law stands above them all: Only the strongest can live. Fighting is normal, extortion is common, and death is inevitable. Born into a wealthy family yet forced to live in poverty, Kanae Nali vowed to become strong enough to take back what rightfully belonged to her—even if it meant that she had to face the consequences and brave the dangers lurking in every corner. Yet on the outside, just like her mysterious peers, she was no different from the other high school students living their lives to the fullest. “Under the ray of light, my ability will only make me die faster. Under the veil of night, my ability allows me to survive longer.” ____ Story set in fictional city. Any similarities with real world's event is purely coincidence. "Do you need help?" Kanae asked as she looked at the pale face Cain not far from them. She was digging upward with her sword while Cain made sure that the dirt fell outside the barrier.
"I'm fine," Cain smiled. The training he experienced under Ferdinand in the past was much more excruciating. A little bit of pressure and pain like this was nothing much for him. At least, he still has more than enough stamina to hold on.
Kevin also dug the dirt above them using his sword. Even though their progress was rather slow, they stayed patiently until they could see the light from above. Speeding up their movement, they broke away from the entrapment and rested their body. The last one to come out was Cain.
"You know that you can force the dirt away with your barrier, right?" Kevin turned his head to Cain.
Cain nodded his head. "It's not impossible, but it's wasting too much energy. With my current condition, I won't be able to do that."
