26. A-Rank Gate

As he thought, A-Rank Gates had started to appear already. He finds one of them when he is on his way back from Muay Thai school. It appeared in the middle of a street, so people reported it right away.

Indra grins excitedly because he can finally try to raid an A-Rank Gate. It has been 2 weeks since he reached level 90, but he could only raise 1 level because he only found 2 C-Rank Gates while the rest are E & D-Ranks that don't give much XP and only serve as training grounds for him.

'I can't wait to see how much XP I can get from A-Rank monsters. Clearing the dungeon should at least give me enough XP to level up 3 times, right?'

The Gate is being guarded very tightly and the police line is set quite far from the Gate. There are many guards around the Gate starting from the military, police, and even hunters from the Hunter Bureau. But this kind of high-security level isn't applied because this is an A-Rank Gate.

The world still can't measure Gates' ranks even now, after all, so it's hard for them to know the difficulty of dungeons. For now, the best method to check dungeons' difficulties is by sending assassin-type hunters to scout the dungeon before attacking them.

Currently, the world already knows that Gates won't open before a week passes. So there's really no reason to apply this level of high security around the Gate on the 1st day. Well, at least not in this city and the neighboring cities.

This high level of security is just applied around here and the reason is Indra's dungeon raids. The sudden disappearance of the Gates surely made people wary, especially when it only happened in a certain area.

At first, people just thought it was just an abnormal phenomenon because they didn't know much about Gates. But it becomes more strange because it only happens in this area. So they started assuming that it was the work of an unknown awakener or even a group of them.

After all, all the other Gates all over the world only get closed after the hunters cleared them. That means these Gates were also cleared by 1 or some unknown awakeners which have the ability to enter and leave the dungeons without being detected. That's why they place awakeners with high sensing ability to guard the Gates too.

At first, the Hunter Bureau and the government didn't care that the Gates were closed. But now they are annoyed because dungeon materials have become very profitable. Having a quarter of the Gates closed by unknown people means they lose a quarter of their profit too, and that's why they are not happy.

But Indra doesn't care and just keeps raiding the dungeons. Though he has some hard times dealing with the dungeon guards. They even placed awakeners inside the dungeon already since last month, so he needed to change targets a few times.

Sometimes he even knocked them out when he didn't have time to change locations. That action just confirmed that someone or some people are clearing the dungeons, but Indra doesn't care at all. He just helps people by killing the dangerous monsters inside the Gates, after all.

'How will they try to stop me tonight, I wonder? It will be fun.'

Just as planned, Indra goes to attack the A-Rank dungeon that night. The authority knows he always attacks at night, so they increase the security level. But obviously, they can't detect him at all when he uses Stealth to enter the Gate.

'Hoh? Now this is new.'

Indra is quite surprised when he enters the dungeon. He sees the assassin-type hunter that the Hunter Bureau sent to scout the dungeon is fighting a monster while being watched by some other monsters that surround them, so the assassin can't escape.

'Big muscular bodies, green skin, and marks on bodies. Those must be Orcs. There are 9 of them there and they are playing with that C-Rank assassin.'

Indra knows he needs to intervene quickly or that C-Rank assassin will die when the Orcs get bored.

'Well, let's turn those haughty expressions into fear.'

Still in Stealth, Indra approaches the Orcs quickly and then jumps to kick an orc's head from behind. The kicked orc flies and slams onto its comrade on its left. They both fall and roll on the ground, surprising all the orcs.

While they get distracted, Indra grabs the C-Rank assassin and throws him to the Gate. The guy is confused at first and doesn't understand why he suddenly gets thrown out of the Gate. But when he sees the confused Gate guards, he finally realizes that the mysterious hunter who cleared dungeons around here has saved him.

"Eh? What happened? Why are you wounded?"

"Ah!? SHIT! QUICK! YOU NEED TO SEND HUNTERS INTO THE DUNGEON QUICKLY! SEND AS MANY STRONG HUNTERS AS YOU CAN!"

"H-hey, calm down! You need to explain what happened first."

"BUT THAT PERSON WILL DIE!"

"That person? Come on, calm down first! We can't do anything if you don't explain it properly."

"A-ah, sorry."

The C-Rank assassin then explains that he was just scouting as usual. But then a group of Orcs found him and surrounded him. There are 9 of them but the 8 only surrounded him while only 1 of them was attacking him.

"Then an Orc suddenly got attacked and they all were distracted. I thought I would die, but suddenly I got thrown out of the Gate. It must be the unknown hunter who kept clearing dungeons around here."

"Wait! How strong were those monsters and how many were they in total?"

"T-they, I think they are almost as strong as our top hunters in the city."

"WHAT?! ARE YOU SURE?"

"Yes. Scouts like me have seen most of our main hunters' power so we can give appropriate measurements about the monsters' strength by comparing them with our main hunters' power. Those big green monsters are obviously as strong as most of our top hunters here. They overwhelmed me easily."

The highest rank hunter in this city is A-Rank and there are only 2 of them. So the top hunters that this C-Rank assassin means are the B-Rank hunters. But the Orcs are actually stronger than those B-Ranks, he just doesn't know that because they didn't use their full power to play with him.

"If that's the case, then we shouldn't be rash and need to assemble a proper attack squad composed of the best hunters. We might even need to ask for help from other cities."

"But what about that unknown hunter? He saved me but now he is in danger. What if he dies there? Even if the Hunter Bureau is suspicious of his motive, it doesn't change the fact that he helped people by clearing dungeons."

They quickly move to report everything, but they don't know that the person they keep mentioning before is still inside the Gate fighting the Orcs happily.
