Chapter 20: Into the City

My Akatsuki Sentries and I flew into the sky and head East.

After 15 minutes of flying, we flew past the ruined elf village. I decided to check out my Map to see if anyone was near the forest's edge. Looking at the Map, I can a bunch of groups of grey dots heading towards the forest. Some groups were 8 to 15 miles away from the forest. It means that these groups of grey dots are most likely people who are adventurers, mercenaries or maybe even lumberjacks.

It's hard to tell so I zoomed in on a group of the grey dots, and saw a group of 10 people. 8 of the people seem to be warriors because they were wearing armor and the last 2 are magician since they are wearing robes and carrying staffs. After zooming onto another few of the groups, they almost appeared the same, so I exit out of my Map.

In another 10 minutes we arrived 2 miles away from the edge of the forest, we floated down into the forest. I decided to land in the forest and exit by walking since I don't want anyone to see us flying. Once we landed we started walking to the forest's end. On the way out of the forest, I made sure that we took our time exiting the forest so we could do some hunting and it took us only 20 minutes to kill a bunch of animals such a bear, 2 boars, and a deer. We skinned them, and took the anything that could be valuable such as claws, teeth, skin and meat. We put everything into 3 bags and headed out of the back towards the end of the forest.

It took us another 5 minutes to finally exit the forest after our little hunt and after exiting the forest, I just saw a grass plain for here to the horizon. There was no road of any kind, but I could see a bunch of trails, most likely 100 trails. It seems that the forest is a good hunting place or something. After inspecting the surrounds, my Akatsuki Sentries and I started walking towards the direction of the nearest city that I could see on my Map.

-3 hour later-

We finally could see the city in my sight, which was about time. It felt like it took forever for us to just walk here and I found it to piss me off since I could of flown here in 30 minutes but I can let people know about me just yet, not until I have information about this world and its strength.

But the journey here was all bad because on the way to the city, we passed by a few of the groups I saw on my Map. When we passed by, the people in these groups would stare at us, and move out of the way for us. From what I saw from their expressions, they were scared of us. It seems that the cosplay that my Sentries and I are wear is scaring people. Well, if you find a group of people wearing hooded cloaks wearing a scary looking masks heading towards you, you would want to move out of their way. I couldn't help think that it was hilarious that cosplay was able to scare people and make way for us like we were monsters, it was so funny that I almost laugh out but thanks to my robot body, it took a few seconds for my emotions to calm down.

After a few more minutes of walking we arrived at the city. I could see the gatehouse of the city walls with a long line at the entrance. After zooming in with my eyes, I could see guards looking through people's bags and wagons, and once the guards were done searching their possessions, they paid the guards a few bronze coins. It looks like there is an entrance fee to get into the city.

So, my Akatsuki Sentries and I lined up in the queue. After inspecting everything around me from the city walls, to the gate, to the Gate Guards and the people in line, I found out everyone was human, there was no Elves, Beast People or anyone from any other race. Which means that this city must belong to a human kingdom or empire that might believe in human superiority since I can't see any other race here, but I will have to wait until I get inside to confirm my hypothesis.

It took us 20 minutes to get to finally reach the gate because the Gate Guards had to check everyone belongings which was annoying me, making me just want to fly over the wall instead of waiting but that is a stupid idea. I slowly approached the Gate Guards with my Sentries when it was my turn.

"Wh...wh..what is the purpose of your visit to the City of Zalo" said Gate Guard who was looking at us with a scared face.

"We are here to sell the parts of animals we have killed" I said while pointing to the cosplaying Sentries holding the bags of loots.

"O...o...ok, we just have to check." said another Gate Guard

After the Sentries put down the bags full of animals parts, a couple of Gate Guards came and checked it out. After looking in the back and finding nothing of place, the one of the Gate Guards gave the ok.

"Tw...twen…twenty bronze coins for the Entrance Fee, please"

I withdrew my arm into my cloak and took out 20 bronze coins and handed it to the guard. After paying the Entrance Fee, I was gesture to move forward into the city. I started walking with my Sentries into the human city
