Lucius Volstad

An hour later…

Blink!

Andrew stared at Dr. Garp. "Throw it at me".

The doctor nodded and finally opened his mouth to speak.

After shutting him down an hour ago, a Pacifier was sent out to go retrieve him, bringing him back to his room inside the giant laboratory.

He was put on supplements and antidepressants to calm his mood completely, and finally, an hour later, Andrew woke up.

He woke up feeling calmer than before.

Having experienced it once already, this time, Andrew was no longer rabid or scared despite the fact that he was still confused.

This was why he told the Doctor to finally tell him everything.

"Well, I already told you before but let me introduce myself again".

"My name is Dr. Garp Johnstone, and I am the lead Doctor of one of the boss' medical research centers".

Andrew looked at this brown-haired middle-aged doctor. "Who is the boss?"

"Lucius Volstad".

Andrew just stared at the doctor; the name didn't ring a bell.

Seeing his reaction, this doctor furrowed his brows slightly. The medical reports said Andrew regained full cognitive functions without any memory loss, but he could not help but feel that his patient lost certain things.

Or, maybe, something changed?

Dr. Garp stared at him. "Lucius Volstad is a mech designer".

"One of the very best and most innovative mech designers that was produced out of Philadelphus District".

"He is the owner of Lucius Industries, an industry that comprises the Lucius Mech Company and the Lucius Medical Centers".

"3 months ago, he started a project called Human-Machine Integration".

"It is a project to see if a fusion between man and machine was possible. Due to certain moral and legal reasons, the boss couldn't go on with his research since but the huge casualties of the pirate attack opened up an avenue for him".

"Faced with the prospect of saving their policemen, the Philadelphus Police signed the consent and 6 of you, the only survivors were brought here".

"We worked on you, and well, here you are".

"You are the first and only 100% success of the project so far".

"In essence, we saved your life".

Silence.

Andrew took his time to digest all the new information that he just got. "Umm, those visions that I get, what are they?"

"Oh! It's just the virtual artificial intelligence of the Camdragon G66 chipset that was integrated into your brain".

"It is what enabled you to survive despite the multiple brain injuries".

"By the way, it's a mech-grade chipset so," the doctor smiled. "In a way, you're no longer human, you can be called superhuman now".

By now, despite the fact that he still didn't remember exactly what he saw when he just woke up, Andrew already arrived at a few facts.

First fact was that, he reincarnated.

No matter how unbelievable it sounded, he was now in another world.

Who would have thought his crazy stunt would really lead to reincarnation?

As for why he didn't remember any memory from the mind of the original owner of his body who unfortunately already died, Andrew attributed it to the fact of the numerous brain injuries that he suffered.

Unsure of what to do, and wary of his secret of reincarnation being found, this was why Andrew didn't inquire so much about this world yet.

Afterall, if he was a policeman here before, he should know a lot, right?

"The boss will be coming to meet you officially in 30 minutes, so, umm," Doctor Garp looked at him. "Don't you want to see it?"

Andrew inclined his head to look at him. "See what?"

"What remains of your organic body?"

'Half human, half robot'. Hearing what the doctor said, Andrew could not help thinking of this but after taking a deep breath, he nodded.

"Show me".

A few minutes later…

Hiss!

On a platform, Andrew's body started being separated, one metal at a time.

Seeing his body fragmenting, Andrew felt like iron man.

'I swear this is so much like Iron Man's suit'.

A few seconds later though, his thoughts froze.

Badump! Badump!

"…!" Andrew stared in shock.

What was left of his organic body was his head, parts of his brain which was now part organic, part mechanic with the chipset and all.

As for his body, it was all gone.

"…"

Despite thinking that he was mentally prepared for it already, Andrew could not help but freeze in speechlessness.

His legs, his arms, his waist, everything was gone.

Only parts of his upper body, containing his heart and other vital organs remained and the rest was supported by metal machines.

"I'm sorry Andrew, this is all we could save".

Andrew could no longer hear the doctor, he felt like puking.

And at that moment, he remembered something.

'This life is so boring man'. He said it himself inside his dilapidated room.

'You said your world was boring right?'

'If you're lucky, you may end up in a far more exciting world'. The weird old man who said he was the master of the wheel of time said it.

At this moment, Andrew could not help but think. 'If I decide to live in this new world filled with mechs and seems to have magic, will it be more interesting?'

'Who knows?'

A few dozen minutes later, Lucius Volstad arrived.

He was a young ambitious man with golden hair and sparkling blue eyes, he wore a suit and seemed like your charismatic new entry in Forbes young richest list.

"Hey, my name is Lucius Volstad, Andrew right?"

"Yes boss". Andrew nodded and took his handshake.

Shaking his metallic hand, Lucius smiled brightly. "I trust that Dr. Garp here already told you all that you need to know".

"Anyways, you're supposed to be dead".

"By buying you a second chance at life, your life is no longer just yours, it's now partly mine and partly the police's".

Lucius spread his hands. "It's cruel but it's the reality, repairing you cost my company 1.2 billion Vemido Kingdom Credits".

"You get now, right?"

Andrew silently stared at this young man, then he nodded. "Yes boss".

"Good, take, sign this form".

With his eyes, Andrew easily scanned the contents of this contract form. It was essentially an enlarged written form of what Lucius Volstad just said.

Andrew didn't complain, he signed it and it was done.

"Congrats Andrew, you remain a mech pilot of the Philadelphus Police but you're now also a mech pilot of Lucius Mech Company".

"I look forward to a fruitful relationship with you".

They shook hands.
