Army Base.

When the huge Gun Ship took off the people who lived around their home all looked at it in awe as in their society the army was the highest power in charge. The reason why the army was the one in power was that the positions of the past were just rich old men while the army had the real might.

In the year 2,100 over 5,000 years ago when the world was just managing to travel deeper into space, the world governments had an arms race to be the first power to colonize the Moon and Mars. It meant more wars for greed but in the end, they forgot who were the ones that kept them in charge.

The armed forces were the ones who suffered for the greed of the old and the rich and they had enough of being used as disposable grunts. They revolted and used the very weapons that the old and rich paid for to go after the poor, young and stupid.

The uprising lasted less than a year, but a new government took the place of the old one after the army toppled the old. After that, the countries no longer were separated by race and science was the relevant power. All religions were totally outlawed and all things related to them were destroyed and burned.

After that, the world went through a huge boost in tech, and racism was seen as inefficient and only merits matter. The rich could not use their wealth to escape the law, as it was without exception.

You either contributed to society or you were disposed of. As religion was gone, the thing keeping progress back was no longer keeping people ignorant. That way the world went through huge improvements in all aspects of life.

People moved around more and borders were open to everyone. However the laws were made even more intense and murder, rape, and child abuse were all death sentences. In time the world adapted to the new world and left the time of discrimination and space travel began to hold the biggest importance.

However, 3,000 years ago the world unlocked the true potential of the human mind and the first Espers were created. They were rare, but it showed that humans were stronger than first believed possible. In time more and more advancements were made and genetic experiments were made commonplace without religion to hold them back.

Most humans considered religion foolish as why worship gods when they could become them. Humans with the power to destroy planets could be born so why did they need to worship what they could not see.

The Human Empire explored space and found a whole new world with their Espers out on the front and they went undisputed and unchallenged for 2 millennia. That was called the golden age as humans explored space with no issue.

Until over 3,000 years ago when the first contact with the Bugs was made. Humanity suffered its first defeat and that resulted in several planets falling to the Bugs. With that first loss, the last bits of humans' separation fully united as humans now had a common enemy.

No longer could humans fight each other, for petty gain. They had to unite and now humans were just that. In the time since then, the war had gained more traction and the entire Empire of the human race and the Bugs were in a blood race.

To see which race could exterminate the other the fastest way and many families made their entire career and Esper lineages in the front lines. Anastasia's family was one of the families that fought on the front lines since the start of the war and it was finally her turn.

Espers could increase in rank, but it was very difficult. It was much easier to rise in the lower ranks than the higher ranks as even her parents had not reached the EX rank, but her mother and grandfather had said that they felt that it was only a matter of time before they ascended the mythical Rank.

That was the reason she was labeled as an EX, now she had to go off to the war to go through a trial by war. Anastasia looked at her grandfather with a very interesting look as she sat next to him. He noticed and asked what was on her mind.

"What do you want to know?"

"Grandpa, why did you replace your arm with machinery? You could have regenerated your arm very easily, regrown it in time, or even used medication, so why?"

Vlad sighed and looked at his cybernetic arm. As she said, regrowing limbs, and organs was possible, but he chose not to.

"Well when I was young, I was very hot-blooded. I charged out there to the Bugs to give it to them, but the thing is that I disobeyed orders many times. I won many times and lost many times. In one attack I lost my sworn brother because I made a mistake and lost my arm as well. I choose to give it up as a way to punish myself. Stupid right?"

She smiled and he thought she was going to say something like no, that is honestly. However, Anastacia inherited her family's very boorish way of speaking.

"It's not just dumb, but plain retarded. Sure you were an idiot however giving up your arm for it was beyond stupid. To make up for your mistake you could have just killed more Bugs and having your arm would be better. So yes, you're an idiot. "

Vlad's normal eye began to twitch and he looked at her oddly.

"Wow, last time I tell you anything personal. However, I should have expected when my idiot son is your father."

She grinned.

"Father like son, both are idiots. Seems mom and grandma are the only smart ones in this family."

However, her grandfather bonked her on the head.

"Damn child, just like my brat. Shows no respect for anyone."

She just smiled.

"Like you. I heard you cussed out the general because he annoyed you and he could do nothing about it."

"Yeah fine. We are one unique family."

The rest of the flight she just talked with her grandpa while he told her stories about his time in battle and tips on using the swords. Not long after they got to the airstrip at the base where he landed the gunship.

A group of soldiers following behind a young black man with a cigar in his mouth approached and the guy did not look happy. When Vlad and Anastacia came out of the gunship he grimaced when he saw Vlad.

"Vlad, I thought I told you if you came back here I would cut off your other arm."

The air seemed heavy and the wind picked up around the entire base. The General's name was Adrik and he never liked Vlad as the two of them served at the same time and were at one point friends. However, that was no longer the case.

Vlad smiled and the ground began to tremble and the air got cold. Aerokinesis vs Geokinesis the Storm Ruler vs the Earth Shaker if these two fought the planet would be destroyed.

There were planets made just for Espers to fight like some were used as gas giants were used for fuel. Anastacia sighed and decided to stop the idiots.

"Grandpa if you do not stop I will tell grandma."

Vlad got quiet and he looked at her annoyed.

"Fine, damn snitch."

She just rolled her eyes and looked at Adrik and saluted.

"Afternoon sir."

Adrik looked down as he was like most men who were Espers and came from long lines of genetically advanced people were very tall at 7'6 and he was still impressed with her height as it was a good trait and advantage to have.

She was 6'5 and it was obvious she was not just a tall person she was also well trained from the way she stood leaving no opening to attack. He took a puff of his cigar and praised her.

"Well, it seems your granddaughter has much more respect than you, Vlad. It seems that gold can come from shit if you look hard enough."

Anastacia had a smile on her face and Vlad noticed and was prepared for a laugh. She innocently smiled and her next words shocked everyone.

"But sir, I did not come from your family. Last I checked, gold comes from gold so mine is the gold and the shit is yours."

Her grandfather broke out laughing and she stopped saluting while Adrik was fuming that these two were just alike. If he could he would have not taken her in the army, but the government and the higher-ups would never allow it.

Having a four SSS Esper not fight would be beyond stupid and especially when she may be the first EX Esper. The humans needed to get there before the bugs as the first one that gets an EX Esper will be able to destroy the other faster.

Adrik groaned and shook his head.

"Whatever, what is her name?"

He looked to a female soldier next to him for the answer. She was his secretary as he was more focused on the Bugs. He was only in this Solar System to check on on the base here. As this was the center of the Empire it was considered a top security target.

"Her name is Anastacia Ivanov. Father is Nico Ivanov and mother is Maya Ivanov, you have met them before sir."

Adrik scoffed and took a puff of his cigar to relax.

"So you're the daughter of those two. You said she had four SSS Eser abilities, but can you use them all?"

They all looked at Anastatica who was in deep thought. They all felt that the air got scorching hot and freezing at the same time. Massive pillars of ice began to form in the sky while they were covered in fire, but were not melting.

This is something she managed to find out after years of training, as long as she managed the temperature of the ice, it remained frozen, so she could create her own fragmentation bombs with ice and fire. They also noticed how a silver glow was on those pillars as she used her telekinesis to propel them even faster.

Most dangerous they saw an unstable glow on the tip of all the ice pillars and they realized it was her Nuclear fusion. Adrik spat out of his cigar and he looked a little worried.

"How strong are those payloads?"

"About as strong as Tsar Bomb, I can go even stronger you know."

They realized she could make nuclear bombs with her powers and if needed that would be useful.

"Are they going to explode?"

"Yeah, I can't stop it."

He panicked as an explosion of that level would destroy the city, if they hit. The energy shields only stopped explosions' from outside, not inside. He raised his hand ready to launch them into orbit, but not before getting on to her.

"Don't do it next time. It is foolish."

He was annoyed as she put all the people in the city at risk, but she just smiled and the unstable reaction was turned off. She dispelled the fire and ice as she was tight to control that from her mother who could cause planet-level explosions.

Vlad smiled as his daughter in law and granddaughter loved to use Nuclear threats as a joke. Vlad clapped and brought attention to himself.

"Well, time to get her uniform and deployment. Where are you sending her?"

Adrik pointed at his shoulder had a Black Skull on it

"The Level 10 Death Zone, it is where the strongest of the Bugs are out there, the same place we were deployed. I am the lead general out there and she will be joining my fleet. Only there can she show off her true worth in the face of death."

Vlad got quiet and he thought about it. It was up to him if he was to accept as he was the head of the family. He looked at his granddaughter and he sighed.

"What are your thoughts, Anastacia?"

She smiled and rolled her eyes.

"I already knew you were all sending me there, it is the only place our family thrives. I am ready for this, but I guess I may not see you for a few years."

She looked down as each Deployment was about 50 years and in that time it was very likely that her family would be deployed to different star systems on other armed campaigns.

She hugged her grandfather who hugged her tightly.

"You better come back alive you brat, or I will drag your soul from Hel and give you a thrashing."

"Don't die of a heart attack grandpa. Give the Bugs on your side Hel."

Vlad smiled and entered his gunship and turned on the engine of the war machine and waved goodbye. He would also head to another Star System as it was time he returned to the War Effort after a few years of rest.

Once she deployed they all deployed. It was time to remind the Bugs of the Ivanov family. Anastacia waved goodbye and looked at Adrik who looked at the Gun ship with a complicated expression.

He sighed and walked away.

"Follow me, Ivanov."

She saluted and followed the soldiers with him to the main recruitment office. She was already confirmed, but it was just to get her file sorted out.
