(A/N: The first part of this chapter won't be too eventful, as you can probably tell from the title.)
After leaving the rooftop of the office building, Dan was left to film the rest of the clean-up. Alejandro told him that some commentary would be added to this footage after they returned to the agency. Luke and Jessica were both helping to search the building they had just raided. This was meant to be a major crackdown on one of the larger gangs operating in Hell's Kitchen. There weren't nearly enough of them there for that to be all of it.
Angela, Mercedes "Misty", and Peter all got involved after that, and sure enough, they quickly found many more gang members hiding on the upper floors. It still wasn't nearly enough to make up even fifth of the total members though, Luke and Jessica began to question some of the still conscious gang members. They didn't get too much out of them, but they got enough out of them to realise that this was just a decoy.
Alejandro told Dan to keep filming, their role was to document the entire process. Despite that, Dan had a feeling that the heroes were being more gentle while on camera. All of the footage that would be considered a little too graphic to show on the news would be edited out if necessary. He was still fascinated by all of this, Dan had never been able to see this side of the action before, he'd often thought that some of it might be exaggerated for dramatic effect.
It was all real, and was even more intense than he'd expected, of course, now he realised how much of it was edited out due to censorship rules. They were interrupted briefly with the arrival of another hero he'd seen to TV before, Iron Fist. It seemed that he'd taken care of another of the decoys, and he'd come here next only to find that it had already been taken care of. Once he realised he was being filmed, he immediately calmed down.
His friend, Colleen Wing also showed up, but she asked them not to include her in any articles, which the news crew obliged to. The Front Line had strict policies in place to prevent non-consensual filming on any individual who didn't want to be filmed. This didn't include criminals of course. There were of course a few exceptions, such as the the occasional time they'd film one of the anti-heroes.
All of the heroes then went to the office building's changing rooms to put on some more casual clothes, including Iron Fist who was later revealed to be Daniel Rand, the CEO of Rand Enterprises. They then drove back to The Front Line to begin the editing process, Daniel went with the other heroes there since it seemed they were both targeting the same gang. When Dan asked Luke which gang it was, he told him that it was called "Los Sangres Del Diablo" or The Blood of the Devil!
It was a Cartel that sold performance-enhancing drugs to those who wanted a nigh-untraceable drug which couldn't be found through any sort of doping tests. The drug they'd used in the fight with Luke and Jessica was called VF which was short for Vigor-Fuerte.
After finishing with the editing process, Dan and Angela got down to writing an article based on the events of the raid. The raid footage would be aired on the main news channel for The Front Line within the next couple of days. Dan thoroughly enjoyed the entire experience, and he couldn't wait to get started in his new department. Alejandro may have been the main recruitment officer, but he was also the person who managed everything to do with the Hero Management Department.
Even though Dan had already had a quick rundown of this department a couple of weeks before, Alejandro made sure that Dan got settled down in his new role. Angela would still be his mentor though since she did a little bit of work in every department. Time flew by and before he knew it, it was time to head home, it was already 10 PM at this point, and although he'd be happy to work a late shift, he'd gone and left his friends with little to no explanation.
Carlson was already there to pick him up, they drove home in silence. At that moment, Dan heard a notification from the system and a window popped up, telling him that all notifications had been enabled again. He saw a bunch of new skills, which he decided to look at later, along with a series of stat increases. The next notification took him by surprise however.
