10 Chapter 10 -Shadow Particles Move Through My Body

- Then it doesn't make sense. If I had really imprinted on her, I wouldn't feel anything for Jessica. - Ethan thought, as he walked, looking at the dense fog that hugged the streets.

- Maybe I'm as immune as Bella... but she imprinted on Edward. Is imprinting scientific? I'll research if there's anything about it, maybe I can understand it better - He kept questioning himself.

Ethan walked home, and when he arrived, he found another note from Enid on the table. There it was written:

'Welcome back, Ethan. Since you said you wanted to have dinner together now, I didn't prepare anything for you to have dinner alone. I'm taking you out to eat somewhere nice tonight'.

- Shit! I forgot that. I hope Jessica doesn't remember to ask me for the ride they were marking - Ethan thought, running a hand over his face.

'Get ready before I arrive. I love you!'.

Ethan placed the note on the table and found some crackers in the cupboard to eat.

He took the cookies and went upstairs to the bedroom. Ethan started opening the closet drawers. Probably the owner of the body had a laptop in storage, as he was very fond of games, it was to be expected.

Then, he found a silver notebook in the middle of his underwear drawers, full of pasted stickers.

Ethan sat on the bed with a cracker in his mouth, dropped his cell phone on the pillow and started researching imprinting. He knew he wouldn't find any definition of the film's imprinting, but any information about it might be enough.

After a few minutes of searching, Ethan found some articles on animal imprinting. Apparently, imprinting was a phenomenon where puppies recognized their mothers as soon as they were born. Like love at first sight, but much more intense and meaningful. It is recommended that babies be delivered to their mothers and only undergo procedures after one hour of life, in order for imprinting to take place.

Scrolling further down, he found a scandalous headline.

'Disney Controversy: Employees Use Imprinting Ducks As Entertainment'.

Ethan looks at that headline without understanding and reads that apparently the park's employees put a Donald Duck costume in front of the baby ducks, so that when they were born, they would imprint with the costume. So the little pups would follow Donald Duck around the park, thinking it was their mother, creating entertainment for all the visitors.

Ethan closed the computer screen, slightly disturbed by the news, but thinking that imprinting really was something real, just not identical to what happened.

Then, he turned his body towards the window and started devouring the rest of the cookies while looking at the view outside.

If he really was immune to vampire powers, he would have advantages in the fight, but if he didn't, he would probably die a lot easier. Research on vampires would be out of the question. He already had all the useful information he needed, now he just had to develop his power enough not to become useless.

Ethan then opened the notebook again and gathered all the vampire information he remembered:

'Victoria: Improved Self-Preservation (Can escape any kind of danger more easily).

James: Tracking Sense (Can track and predict prey's movements).

Laurent: No powers.'

They didn't seem to have powers that were so impossible to fight. Ethan needed to develop his energy capacity more, as this would increase other stats, such as agility.

Ethan turned off the notebook, closed the bedroom window and door. She sat on the bed again and pulled the blanket over his head. He placed his hands on his knees and closed his eyes, trying to concentrate as much as possible on his energy.

After a few minutes of silence, Ethan began to feel energy rising through his body. The same feeling as the other times, like thick smoke rising through his body.

He opened his eyes amidst the darkness and realized that every minute, his vision was getting better. He could see the outline of his own body perfectly and could almost see the colors of his clothes, but as Ethan looked closer, he realized that he could see dense energy rising through his body.

It was as if he saw the black smoke filling the boy's arms, as if he was being embraced by darkness.

Ethan raised his arm in front of his face and tried to get a closer look at the dark smoke. He noticed that some tiny particles that looked like small drops of energy were floating neatly through his body.

He then raised his other hand and, with his index finger, slowly tried to touch the particles. As he approached the finger, they moved towards his finger, as if he was pulling them.

He floated his arm over his entire arm, and noticed that they all followed him as he ran his fingertips near.

Ethan then opens his palm quickly in front of the particles, which causes them to fly away from him quickly, as if he had blown them.

He could move shadow particles. This was a huge step forward for him, as it meant he could manipulate the shadow further.

Ethan pulled the blanket off his head and realized he had been under the blanket for hours. Night was already coming on.

He got up and walked to the middle of the room, where he bent down and looked under his bed. There it was clearly darker. So he looked for where the shadow of the bed began with the darkness of the room. He wanted to find out if he could bend not only his own particles, but also those of objects.

Then he started staring at the shadow on the bed, and there were these little drops of dense shadow. They were much weaker and smaller than the ones on his body, but that already meant that the shadow didn't have to come out of him alone.

Ethan brought his fingertips to those particles, which barely matched him, but he could still see that they felt his fingers.

He ducked under the bed, hoping he could more easily move the bed's shadow particles.

Ethan was already a little more familiar with the feeling of energy entering his body, so he was able to move more than before, but he still felt a little difficult, as it seemed that something was pressing him to enter his body.

Suddenly, a considerably strong light for someone who was completely in the dark, lights up in the boy's room, who closes his eyes tightly, trying not to go blind, while all the particles run out of his vision, as if they had been disintegrated.

He gets up from the floor with his arm in front of his face, blocking part of his vision, and looks at the bed.

'You have a message'.

Ethan takes the phone in hand and clicks to read:

"Hey, Ethan. Are you ready? I'm coming back home. Get ready to go to that place I told you about."
