4 Chapter 4

After me and Bella got back home I lay down in my bed thinking of Rosalie. Things had changed. Emmett and Rosalie were not mates. That means that there is a chance that she could be my mate. I came to this universe thinking that I would have to be just friends with Rosalie and admire her from a distance but this...this changes things. I have a chance now. And I will take it.

I could hear Bella talking to mom in her room. She was telling her about how she had lost her power cord. Typical. Even back home she couldn't find anything without Bella's help. The wards around home have been set up and they will stay up as long as I'm alive. I've set up wards in such a way that anyone with bad intent wouldn't be able to cross them and I would get an alert immediately if anybody tries to do so. I've also set up an extra surprise for Edward if he tries to go into Bella's room. I don't have a problem with him or anything but I've never liked the fact that he stalks her everywhere. Love or not, watching somebody sleep by creeping into their room is just creepy and weird.

The next day Bella stayed back to confront Edward, unaware that he won't come. I met up with Alice in our first class. After I sat down in my seat next to her she said,'' Hey Damian, do you want to have lunch with my family in the cafeteria ? ''

'' Sure I'd love to meet the rest of your family. '' Especially Rosalie.

'' Great ! I know you're going to be good friends with them. '' She said with her usual excitement.

During lunch period me, Alice and Jasper walked to the corner of the cafeteria where the Cullen's sat. I sat down between Alice and Jasper as Alice began introducing me to everyone.

'' Damian this is Emmett. ''

'' Nice to meet you. '' I nodded at Emmett who nodded back.

'' This is Edythe. ''I gave her a wave which she returned.

'' And this is my beautiful sister Rosalie.''

I looked at Rosalie and froze once more. I began engraving every single feature of her face to my memory. The texture of her lips, the structure of her jaw. She was flawless, even for a vampire. God, this woman is going to be the death of me. I must have been staring at her for a while because I was woken out of my daze by Alice whose eyes were twinkling with amusement. I cleared my throat and tried to cover the blush I was sure was present on my face. I peeked at Rosalie who, to my immense pleasure, was glancing around looking flustered.I looked at Rosalie once more and tried to introduce myself,'' Hi I'm Damian.''

''I'm...''

'' Beautiful '' I blurted out before I could control myself.

Rosalie's eyes widened and at that moment I wished that the ground would open up and swallow me whole. '' I..uhm. What I meant to say was...'' I trailed off.There was no salvaging this situation. So if you can't deny it,own it.

''Yeah...there is no saving this. I meant what I said. You are beautiful.''

Rosalie gave me a beautiful smile and said,'' Thank you. I'm Rosalie Hale.'' Her voice sounded even better than singing angels to my ears.

I tried to shake Rosalie's hand but the moment I touched her it felt like electricity shot through my hand into my spine. I stared at Rosalie's eyes and she was staring right back. We were broken out of our daze once more, this time by the sound of Edythe clearing her throat. We looked down and saw that we were still holding hands. We quickly (though reluctantly) let go and looked back to see that the others were looking at us with amused faces. Thankfully Alice (God bless her) came to our rescue and diverted the conversation elsewhere. Though neither me or Rosalie paid any attention as we were subtly - not so subtly - glancing at each other throughout the entire lunch period.

At the end of school I exchanged numbers with Alice and saw that Rosalie was getting into her car to go home. Thinking this was now or never, I quickly walked up to her. She looked up to see me and I summoned the courage to speak what I had to say, '' Hey Rosalie I've bought a new car. So I was wondering would you like to go on a drive with me and dinner afterwards ? ''

Rosalie gave me a happy smile and I thought that the sun rays had pierced through the clouds due to how she was glowing.

'' I would love to.''

'' So I'll pick you up at seven ? ''

'' I'll come to you house at seven.''

'' Alright. Sure. '' I gave her my address and quickly made my way home. I had bought a Chevrolet Impala after coming to Forks so that I don't have to ask Bella to take me everywhere. I had bought it by using the grand prize money saved from the various martial arts competition I had won.

I got home and took thorough shower. After cleaning up I put on a red shirt, black jeans and white trainers. I put on a black leather jacket that contrasted nicely with my hair. At seven'o clock Rosalie arrived at my doorstep. She was wearing a black shirt and black jeans with a white garter belt. Her hair was styled prettily and fell over her right shoulder.

I forgot to breathe for a moment when I saw her but was able to regain control of myself in time.

''Hi '' I breathed out.

'' Hi ''

'' You look beautiful. Even more so than before which I didn't think was possible to be honest. ''

She smiled beautifully and said, '' Thank you. You look very handsome as well. ''

'' Thank you. Shall we ? '' I said as I gestured towards my car. We got in and I drove us to a nice open roof restaurant just outside of Forks. I ordered my meal but Rosalie said that she wasn't really hungry. I already knew the reason so I didn't press much. We made pleasant conversation before our meal arrived and while eating. One of the best things about Rosalie was that she didn't feel the need to fill every gap in our conversations. There were times when we would just stare into each other's eyes for minutes in comfortable silence.

After paying for the dinner we set off for home. I deliberately took the long route to maximise my time with her. When we reached close to her house I stopped the car and both of us just stared into each other's eyes for several long seconds.

Finally, she opened her mouth and said, '' Thank you for this evening. I had a pleasant time. ''

'' Me too.'' I said without looking away from her eyes. Thinking that this was now or never and summoning my courage I leaned forward to kiss her. I moved slowly so she could push me away if she wanted to. But to my immense pleasure she also leaned forward.

Finally after what felt like eternity our lips met. It was a feeling that I could never describe. I had kissed girls before in my previous life but none of them felt like this. Her skin was supposed to be harder than granite but when I cupped her cheek it felt smooth under my touch. Her lips felt like they were the softest things on planet earth. After several minutes which felt like seconds we backed away. I looked into her eyes and spoke the words I had been waiting to say for such a long time,'' Rosalie Hale, would you do me the honour of becoming my girlfriend ? ''

She beamed and lunged at me saying,'' YES!''

We hugged each other and I became lost in the scent of her hair and the feeling of her body pressed against mine. We let go of each other after several long moments and put our foreheads together. I could feel her breath on my mouth and it was intoxicating.

'' I will pick you up from here tomorrow ? ''

She gave me a nod and got out of the car. I gave her one last kiss and watched as she walked off towards her home. Finally I managed to look away and drove off toward my house.

Next morning we caused quite a stir when I walked into school holding hands with Rosalie. I could practically feel the envious glares of the boys on my back. Even Bella looked shocked as I had never shown much interest in girls in our old school.

Alice was the one who was most excited that we got together. Because according to her now we were dating both twins and it was proof of the strength of our friendship.

It's been two weeks since Rose and I started dating and I can honestly say that this has been the best two weeks of my two lives. Rosalie and I complete each other. When I'm with her I feel like I can lay myself bare and she would still accept me for who I am, just as she knows that I will accept her for who she is.

Today's the day of the car accident. Although it makes me uneasy to put my sister in danger I have viewed all the paths of the future. If I don't let the accident happen then Bella and Edward won't get together. In all the futures I have seen Edward and Rosalie always mange to reach us before either of us get hurt, so it should be all right.

As I got out of the house I saw dad telling Bella that he won't be able to come home on time as there was an animal attack last night. Only I knew what it really was. Victoria and James have reached Forks. While thinking about this I outwardly said to dad, '' An animal that can kill a full grown man has to be pretty big. Be careful dad.''

He replied with an '' Always am. '' before driving off.

I met up with Rosalie in the parking lot. I gave her a kiss and said,

'' Good morning, Rose.''

'' God morning'' she replied with a smile. I put my arms around her waist just as she looped hers around my neck.

'' Your brother Edward is back ? ''

'' Yeah. He just returned from Alaska yesterday.''

'' I'll see you at lunch . ''

'' Yeah, see you then . ''

-LINE BREAK-

At lunch when I entered the cafeteria with Rose I could feel Edward glaring at me. I knew he was trying to read my mind but I decided to have some fun with him. I turned to Rose and asked,'' Rose is you brother Edward gay ?''

Edward's gaze faltered and Rose asked me in a shocked voice,'' Why do you say that ? ''

'' Well he keeps staring at me and honestly it's kind of creeping me out. If he is gay could you please tell him that I'm already in a happy relationship with you and I'm not the one for him. But tell him gently please, I don't want to hurt his feelings.''

At this point, Alice and Edythe were giggling, while Emmett and Jasper had dissolved into full blown laughter.

Rosalie smirked and said,'' Don't worry I'll make him understand. '' Looks like she has picked up on what I'm doing, I love my girlfriend.

By the time we got to the table Edward's glare was back in full force. Deciding to have a bit more fun I gave Edward my gentlest look and said, '' I'm really sorry Edward but a relationship between you and me isn't possible. You're a nice guy and all but I don't swing that way. Don't be sad. I'm sure the right guy for you is out there somewhere. ''

At this point Emmett had fallen out of his seat in laughter while Edward was looking horrified. Without giving him any time to response I turned to Alice and started discussing our art project.

-LINE BREAK-

After school ended I was standing next to Bella near her truck. Rosalie was blowing me a flying kiss from across the parking lot. Then right on cue a car came skidding and was about to crash into us. Right before it could crush us Rose dragged me to the side while Edward stopped the car with his hand. After that they quickly left and me and Bella were surrounded by concerned students and friends.

We were quickly take to the hospital. While we were getting our check up Charlie stormed into our room. He told Tyler to say goodbye to his license and worriedly asked us how we were doing.

'' I'm fine dad. '' We both said at the same time.

After Dr. Cullen came and examined both of us we were given the green light. I got out ahead of Bella and dad and saw Carlisle, Rosalie and Edward talking. I made my way over to them and asked if I could have a moment alone with Rosalie.

As we reached a secluded corner Rosalie turned to me and started speaking quickly,'' Damian, I can explain. I...'' I cut her off by putting my finger on her lips before she could go not a rant.

I cupped her cheeks lovingly and looked in her beautiful eyes as I said, '' It's alright Rose. I've known for quite a while that you have some secrets. But what I know even more is that you would never hurt me. I trust you with my life Rosalie Hale. You can tell me whenever you feel comfortable. I can wait.''

Rose said nothing but engulfed me in a fierce hug, which I returned with the same level of fierceness, careful not to hurt her.

After the hug was over we put our foreheads against each other. '' Do you want to go on a date with me tonight ?'' She nodded her head with a watery smile in confirmation.

-LINE BREAK-

I picked up Rosalie in my car from her home. We were silent on the drive to our destination. The weight of our revelations weighing on our shoulders. I stopped the the car beside a forest. I got out of the car and walked into the forest with Rosalie following me. Her curiosity finally got the best of her and she asked, '' Where are we going ? ''

'' Do you trust me ? '' I asked as I looked at her.

'' With my life. '' She replied in a heartbeat.

I smiled at her and held out my hand,'' Then just come with me.''

She took my hand and we kept walking. After a 10 minute walk we reached a beautiful grove. There was a small pond in the middle and fireflies were flying around, giving it an ethereal feeling. I laid a blanket on the ground and we sat down on it.

'' So, are you ready to tell me ?''

'' Yes.''

[ Rosalie's PoV ]

These days that I have spent with Damian have been the happiest days of my 80 years of life. The empty void inside of me has finally been filled. When he is near me, when he touches me, kisses me I feel like my body is on fire. Whenever I'm in his arms I feel like I could stay in them forever. I feel like I've known him all my life. I love him with everything I have.

That is why today when that car was about to crash into him I couldn't think of anything but saving him. I couldn't be bothered to think of the consequences, all I could think of was the fact that I couldn't live without him.

When he asked to speak to me at the hospital, I was afraid. I thought that he would be scared of me, I thought that he would push me away. But instead of doing any of that he just told me that he understands. He told me that he trusts me.

I have to keep his trust. I have to tell him the truth. And so, I told him everything. I told him about me and Royce, I told him about what he did to me and I told him about me being a vampire. Not once did I look into his eyes when I was talking. Finally, I steeled myself and looked into his eyes after I finished my story. I was expecting to see disgust and hatred but instead all I saw was concern, understanding and pride.

He cupped my cheek and I automatically leaned into his touch. He looked in my eyes and said,'' Listen to me Rose. I don't want you to even think for one moment that I judge you because of what happened to you. Nor am I afraid of you because you're not human. I'm proud of you Rosalie. I'm proud because even after what happened to you, you stood up by yourself and made yourself into a capable women. Rosalie Hale, you are the most loving, caring and the most amazing person I have ever met and I...I love you. I love you with all my being, my everything.

He said those words with such passion and emotion that I couldn't help but be lost in his voice. Relief, happiness and love, all these emotions were battling for dominance inside of me.

Finally love won and I lunged at him and kissed him with more passion than I have ever show in my entire life. I poured all the love I was feeling for him into that kiss. Finally I have found someone who loves me for who I am. Finally I have found my mate.
