The Voice of Hope

Minutes later, Daryl paced back and forth in the bar as he cursed under his breath, threw some empty wine bottles on the bar next to him and yelled, "Shane, who are those bastards? And you, old man, someone died while we were trying to look for you, don't you feel guilty?"

"Hey! Stop saying those words to my father." Seeing Hershel who was silent, Beth couldn't help but burst out when she heard Daryl's words, so she looked in his direction with her eyes reddening.

Daryl took a few steps forward, looked at this girl in front of him, fury surged from within him and said to Beth "Did I say something wrong? Don't forget we're in this damn situation because of her."

"Hey! Daryl, stop talking, can't you see the situation is bad enough now?" Lori quickly held Daryl's hand, which was a little out of control, but Daryl gave a sharp tug.

Pointing at Lori, Daryl also cursed, "Isn't that your fault, Lori? You're a woman who doesn't know what to do and the one chance she got she went out looking for her death, right? Airon said that many of the community wouldn't understand the gravity of the world, I think I can understand his words now."

Lori was silent as she listened to Daryl's words, her lips trembling but she knew she could not say anything in the face of the accusations.

"Let's be quiet, no need to argue now! Do you really think this is an appropriate time to argue?" Shane finally moved as he gave Richard first aid, and stopped the fight that was going on.

Like everyone else, his mind was very paralyzed at the moment. Jimmy's death, Richard's serious injury, and now the team's continual bickering without focusing on what was happening now.

In the meetings, Airon had told everyone that something like this was a matter of time to happen and for that reason, no one without experience should leave the prison for any reason!

Therefore, considering the situation now, everyone needed to calm down and think carefully about how to deal with the problem.

Suddenly, while everyone was deep in thought, Hershel, who had been sitting on the edge of the bar in the bar, stood up, walked slowly over to Richard and without a word began to check the wound.

Seeing this, Shane also moved and observed the situation outside through the gaps between the door and windows of the bar. Suddenly, he felt someone coming up behind him and, when he turned around, Daryl was at his side.

"Before we were shot, I saw at least two people on the roof on the right, there!" After saying that, Daryl pointed towards a building where he last saw the enemy, and Shane turned his head in the direction he pointed, and indeed a black shadow could be seen lying in that position!

"This is bad... We don't know how many people are on the enemy side!" Shane looked away and hit the wooden floor hard, venting his feelings.

"We need to communicate with the prison, Sam should be able to send a team to back us up! Where's the radio?" Morgan suddenly thought of a logical idea, and looked at Shane in search of the radio.

"The radio is here!" Glenn, who had been standing in the corner, came over with a backpack next to the group and Daryl snatched it from him.

Seeing Glenn, who had been hiding in the corner of the bar, Daryl looked at him and said, "Are you scared? You should be thinking about how to take down our enemies, stop hiding."

"It was shocking, but I'm not afraid." Glenn sat down next to Daryl and kept repeating it in his head.

With a sneer, Daryl ignored Glenn and pulled out the radio and began communicating with the prison, "Zz.... This is Daryl, over! Does anyone elude me?"

"Zz..."

"Zz... In the prison, is anyone listening to me? Respond, we are in a crisis situation, over."

"Zz..."

...

After repeatedly trying to communicate with the prison, he got no response and Daryl tossed Glenn the radio, a little disappointed.

"The horde of walkers shouldn't have attacked the prison, should they?" Glenn asked in a low voice.

"Shut the fuck up, why would you think something so stupid?" Daryl imagined the prison full of walkers for a moment.

"That's impossible, there are tanks in the prison, they can't be beaten by a horde that big..." Morgan tried to lighten things up, but admittedly he had no clear answers to Glenn's words.

Shane covered his face with his hands full of despair. Although he had led a group alone, there were three women on his side, an old man, an injured person and the other who died. In the end, there is only him, Daryl, Morgan and Glenn with combat skills.

Shane had some people, but that wasn't the important thing, he didn't have any information on the enemies. Without that information and being in an unfavorable spot, the outcome would always be bad.

They all sat on the ground still not understanding how to get out of their situation, not counting the walkers there was another threat pointing against their lives.

Shane slapped his face, full of confidence he stood up. Looking at the people in the room, he hesitated for a moment and then said, "Now the enemy outside can come in at any time, we can't stay here and wait for our death, we must run! Staying here will only prolong our death."

"Wouldn't most of us die if we ran out? "Hearing what Shane said, Glenn didn't want to accept it.He still wanted to meet with Maggie!

As a leader who must make decisions that no one else dared to make, Shane nodded and didn't deny Glenn's words, "You're right, I really don't want to admit it, but that's the truth, but if we run away we might have a chance! It's better than staying in this place and doing nothing."

After a pause, seeing that no one had anything to say, Shane simply made the decision and thought of the best way to get out.

"Okay, everyone get ready to make a run for it, this will be our only chance!"

Just as everyone was moving to grab their stuff, Glenn suddenly shouted out loud, "Everyone wait!"

"Maybe no one else will have to die!"

Everyone turned to Glenn who was holding the radio, a sound could be heard coming out of the intercom at this point.

"Zz... Anyone from S.C.T. who hears my voice, respond at this time."

The group of people who were instantly signing off smiled, and Shane quickly snatched the radio in his hands.

"Zz... This is Shane! I heard your voice clear and loud!"

"Zz... Shane, what a surprise, we're on our way back right now, how's it going at the prison with that walker horde thing?

Hearing that question, Shane flashed a helpless grin and said with a smirk, "Zz.... Airon, I'm sorry but we're not in the prison, someone ambushed us and we're under attack, hopefully we managed to take shelter in a bar."

The radio went silent for a few seconds, then Arion's voice came again, but this time tinged with a perceptible coldness.

"Zi... Where are they?"

Shane looked at Heschel and the others, and Beth who was standing next to him said quickly, "This is the closest town south of the prison, there shouldn't be any other towns nearby."

"Zz... We're in the most isolated town south of the prison, this is a bar."

Then there was silence for almost a minute, Shane was unaware that the other party was quickly consulting the information on the map and, as expected some time later, Airon's voice came quickly over the intercom.

"Zz... Got it! Wait for us at that position and try to hold on, we'll be there in ten minutes."

"Zz... Copy that!"

After setting the radio aside, everyone in the group breathed a sigh of relief, and Shane quickly scanned the bar and ordered people to get into vantage points while the rest were to hide with Richard.

After a few minutes, some footsteps were heard outside the bar, Shane held out his hand to signal them to pay attention, as they carefully lifted their gaze to peer outside through a gap.

He could now clearly see five to six people walking towards the bar with guns in their hands.

Shane couldn't give them a chance to let the enemies approach the bar so quietly. Once they entered the bar, things would get bad for everyone in general.

With a determined mindset, Shane raised his M4 in his hands, pointed it at the nearest person and pulled the trigger.

"Bang bang bang bang bang bang bang bang!

Of the few people who were approaching, two of them were hit by the burst of gunfire and fell to the ground, and finally the rest didn't dare to walk and moved to different places.

A man's voice came from behind a dumpster.

"Listen to me, for the bastards inside! You're all dead, I'll take care of the women in your group and show you a good time. But before that, I'll get you guys and take care of slicing your throats one by one."

Hearing the threats coming from outside, Shane felt a little relieved, as long as the enemy knows that they have what to answer with, it definitely won't be easy for them to approach the bar at all.
