The scorching midday sun was exorbitant. On the dirt roads of Georgia, a group of young men were heading towards the College of Computing very close to where the base run by Shane was located.
The area where the base was expanding from the university was a fairly good area with useful structures. Not only were there colleges, but also many other institutes where the departments and facilities were complete.
Not only did they have most of the necessities, but they could also expand their land as long as the people were numerous. They were also not short of land to grow vegetables, if they advanced into the surrounding area they would very soon come across Tech Green which was a suitable space for agriculture.
The space around Tech Grenn was good as it was surrounded by trees, so as long as the surrounding area was walled off with wire fencing they could start work immediately there.
There were also facilities like the MRDC very close to the Georgia College of Technology, where you could work with new technology and it had many facilities where you could create anything.
This area was more than good to start expanding safely, not only were they surrounded by good buildings, but these were not big buildings without a utility like in the city of Atlanta, these buildings can be used to fulfill all the needs of the S.C.T. community.
The group making their way through the place where now the base Shane led had set up shop, walked with dubious eyes as they avoided many walkers that still lingered in the large streets.
They seemed to be half frightened, and ran towards some cars, hiding from the sight of the walkers, looking in horror at the tall figures that suddenly appeared.
"Where are we now?" One of the figures in the group held up a map, while someone brushed his long blond hair behind him, gestured with his fingers from time to time, and asked the man next to him nervously.
"We are still a long way from our high school, it will take us a little longer to get there with those figures standing in the street..." Seeing the woman holding the map and looking at it for a long time, the man covered his forehead wordlessly and explained helplessly.
"All follow Licey's bitch speculation, how could we abandon that shelter we were in?" one of the girls asked while holding a metal rod in her hands.
"Don't talk nonsense, we didn't have any more food in that place anyway. We all know it was a matter of time before we would need to move out of that shelter, don't blame someone else in the group." The man strongly rebuked the bickering that was going on in the group.
They all knew that this was not the time and place to argue, right now any noise caused by mistake could alert those walkers and things would end up getting complicated in unforeseen ways.
After saying that, the man picked up a long nailed bat and said, "Anyway, the only thing we can do now is to keep moving forward, don't get distracted."
The blonde woman looked at the man's appearance, pursed her lips indifferently, picked up her gun and quickly followed him while looking at the others. They all nodded, began to walk through the vehicles while ignoring the walkers beside them.
Looking at the endless road ahead, the blonde woman sighed, "We've been out for so long and we don't know if there's the military or if we're heading to a safe haven."
The sun in the sky shone on the face of a person looking at the wounded bodies of some soldiers and survivors kneeling on the ground. It's just that at the time, Shane was holding a golf club as he looked at the survivors, the location was a bit far from the base, but Shane ordered that they not be moved from this location.
"The world sure has changed, I thought when Airon gave them that speech about the future they would understand what needed to be done."
They all listened to Shane's cold words and all fixed their gaze on that group of survivors who had attacked them only hours ago.
"Sir, we were surprisingly ambushed by the enemy, I apologize for not observing the terrain properly!"
Hearing what the captain of this squad behind him said, Shane closed his eyes and then said, "What bothers me is not that they were ambushed, what bothers me is that these assholes are still alive! Why do we need so many of them if it only takes one to know where the hell they came from?"
"Sorry sir, it won't happen again!"
When Shane heard these words he was silent for a moment. He originally thought that there would be no civilians brave enough to attack the military, but it seems I was wrong. So now, no group going out should treat the survivors kindly before it was clear whether they were civilians or enemies.
Firstly, it was about the safety of the soldiers and secondly that they be prepared to eliminate any threat that moved in. This time there were twelve survivors of which five were shot down, the others ended up surrendering.
Shane knew what Airon would do in their situation, so making a decision, he picked up the golf club and raised it before striking the head of one of those who were subdued.
"Clack!"
The heavy blow to the back of his head knocked him unconscious, blood splattered and immediately everyone kneeling on the ground trembled in fear. No one ever thought that the military would do something like this, there was no one who even today could do this so naturally.
"I want you to tell me how many of you there are in total!"
After saying that, Shane raised the golf club again and attacked another survivor in the back of the head without any mercy. Blood mashed his motes and golf club, the gaze of the soldiers behind him was silent and no one dared to say anything.
"How dare you attack the military when our sole purpose is to save you? Today you pieces of shit attacked and harmed many military men, they who fight day in and day out to save the decaying society."
Shane turned to the captain of A-1 squadron and said, "I believe I heard Airon tell you that the world had changed and now the walkers are not our only enemies?"
"We heard that, sir!" All the soldiers shouted in unison in a powerful voice.
"I think I understood that we must protect the people in our shelter before we consider saving other people, am I wrong about that?" Shane asked with an expression full of brutality.
"You are not, sir!"
After hearing those words, Shane pulled out a gun and shot them all in the head who had attacked his group without mercy. There was no mercy on Shane's face, right now he knew he had to educate all the soldiers to understand how much the world had changed.
"Bang! Bang! Bang! Bang! Bang!"
Shots rang out in the lonely street and all the soldiers watched in horror as these people were killed by their leader, then realized that if they hadn't had enough baggage, they would have died instead.
"Squad Leader, can you take charge?" Shane pointed to the lone survivor, indicating what he should do next.
With a military salute, the A-1 squadron captain said, "I'll find out until the year this person's neighbors were born, sir."
"Yeah, that's good."
When it was all over, Shane walked back to the car before hearing a warning shout, "Survivors up ahead!"
The captain looked at his men and shouted, "You know what to do, they're our enemy until proven otherwise!"
Yes, sir!"
