Chapter 103: War effort

After Anatu left with a quick kiss, John again sat staring out of the window. When all this started, his plan had always been to either imprison or kill Anatu, send her back to her people, or divorce her. Now he couldn't stomach any of those thoughts. She was his, and he'd keep her. But he knew her now, and she would never stay safely hidden when her fellow cyborgs went to war. When the fighting started, he'd have to find a way to keep her safe and out of it. The question was how? Would she stay with him, even if Balthazar ordered her to go? He needed her to put him first. But most of all he needed her safe in the coming battle.
