Chapter 3 Is Karma bitch ?

" Next award is Businessman Of The Year , I would like to invite Mr Dev Kulkarni to give this award " announced the host .

All the eyes in the big hall including those who are watching it on television is fixed on Mr Dev Kulkarni.

" Good morning, everyone! I am seeing many new faces here , so I would like to introduce myself first . I am Dev Kulkarni, chairman of Dev Industries. Maybe some of you are wondering why I am here today . Last time I attended this function was when my third son Karan Kulkarni was getting the award of Businessman Of The Year but unfortunately he couldn't make it here to get that award himself. " He took a deep breath to steady his emotions and then continued with a little heavy voice like he is on the verge of crying.

" Later , we got the news that my son and daughter - in - law Shreya Kulkarni with their elder daughter died on the spot in an accident on the way here . Their younger son lost his parents only at the age of six months. I still vividly remember that little boy crying because his parents and sister weren't responding to his calls . " He wipes the tear rolled down his eyes .

" I a..am sorry. " The host passes him a glass of water .

" Actually, I am here to present this award today just because I wanted to meet this mysterious person . "

" I think I already announced it , so the Imperial awards for Businessman Of The Year goes to ..... " He glances at the host and announces it unwillingly " The award goes to S&K pvt. Ltd. .

A well built and a very confident man gets up from table beside Kulkarni brothers ( krish's uncles) . He took a whole of a minute to glare at Kulkarni brothers before smirking at their frustrated faces and continued his walk to receive the award.

" I am sorry ,Mr Kulkarni, you can't meet my boss yet . He is a bit occupied with some personal business. So , he couldn't make it . But I'll make sure to pass your message to him " he gave a polite smile to Mr Dev Kulkarni followed by a little bow.

"Hurrrayyy " Sneha (masi ) jumped from the sofa and hugged Krish " congratulations 🎉, my dear . "

"Well done , son " Nani congratules him with a warm smile . But a hint of pain can be clearly seen in their eyes.

" It's too soon to congratulate , there is still a long way to go " he said staring at the faces on the television screen.

" Don't be too hard on yourself,son . " Nani said putting her hands on his arms.

" Karma is a bitch she'll surely bite them in the ass ." Sneha tried to complete Nani's sentence keyword tried .

"No swearing, sneha . You are a teacher , you shouldn't use such foul language. " Krish smiles seeing his Masi get reprimanded by his Nani.

" Karma is not a bitch, she only gives people what they deserve. "

" Okay , okay " Sneha said trying to cool Nani .

" I am going to temple , today is the maha aarti .Krish " Nani looks at Krish and continues " you should come with me and get the blessings of god ".

" Sure , Nani ".

As soon as Nani leaves the living room Sneha goes around the sofa to Krish and pulls his ear 👂. " You were having great fun huh "

" Awwww Masi, it hurts "

" It's meant to , son " he looks in the direction where Nani had gone and calls " Nani "

Sneha panicked and retracted her hand from Krish's ear " Ma , it wasn't how it ..."

Krish started laughing and ran outside " Coming Nani ".

" You Punk " she shouted from behind and huffed in anger .

( Next day at S&K Company)

Two men wearing suits came out of the elevator glorifying the cold work place .

" You should have seen their faces , that was just like a child whose candy got snatched away" he said and started laughing " I wanted to set off " he said between laughs " firecrackers right there " .

Krish just shook his head at the childish behaviour of his secretary and his right hand Atharva Verma .

" And Mr Kulkarni..he was so disappointed when he realised that that was a name of a company not a person " he looked at Krish for a moment " but I really enjoyed taking your place this time ".

Krish opened the door of his office and atharva followed him inside .

" It feels ...just like a ...mystery novel , where no one knows who the actual main character is ".

" Is there any novel as such ?"

" Yes , I just finished it last week and it was so interesting, I reall..."

" Perhaps you have no work to do , how about checking the status of the perfume we are about to launch " Krish cutted him off in between knowing if he started now , he is not going to stop till he'll tell the full story .

" My apologies ,sir , but I already have lots on my plate . I'll take my leave now " . He turned around to leave .

" Where is Ms Chaterjee ? Why isn't she here yet ? " Krish asked remembering she wasn't there at her desk when he came inside .

" I'll go and see where she is " he said and finally exited the office.

( After a while )

Ms Chaterjee a short heighted and young girl entered the office .

"Good morning, boss "

" Morning" he answered without even looking up from the file he is holding.

" Boss , you called for me ? " She asked a little hesitant.

" It's 10 am , where were you till now ? " He asked still not looking at her.

" Sir , there was someone at the gate no. 2 who wanted to meet you . He really created a lot of chaos there ".

" Who was that ?" He asked .

" He said he is your family."

Krish finally looked at her wide eyed .
