This feels kind of like Dark Souls... and I don't like it

after descending deep into the chasm falling through several very crumbly floors and cobwebs I finally hit the bottom.

"that stung a little." I said, landing on top of a fly type bug that was unfortunately underneath my feet when I fell down here.

as I looked around I could see how damp and dark it was, the game was unable to convey just how dark it was, I could hardly see at all.

I decided that simply standing around here was a very bad idea, and strode forth into the only tunnel I could see around here.

as I was traversing the tunnel, there was multiple barriers in my path, thankfully I had the trusty nail of the protagonist, and hacked through the walls of cracked bones and unstable rocks, finally I had came to a massive door, it was very dilapidated and I was able to break it down in only a few swings of my nail.(it actually took several minutes of hacking away at it before it even showed signs of breaking, and several more before it crumbled)

the door fell, and before my eyes was a sight that I would never be able to forget, Dirtmouth, the main hub of the game, was in ruins.

there was only a single thing that seemed sturdy, and that was the bench in the middle of town.

walking through the ruined Dirtmouth, I saw what looked like the corpse of the Elder Bug, crumpled against a wall that was near the bench.

I took a closer look and saw what looked like nail slashes on his body, they seemed eerily like the slashes of my nail.

I decided to have a sit down on the bench, and when I leaned back a little to decompress from all of this happening around me, I found myself looking at a screen.

{Hello, and welcome to the introduction of the charm screen.}

"what? Is this some kind of system like in the novels I used to read?" I asked to the screen.

{no, it is not, this screen is simply to allow you to more easily equip and inspect charms that you can gain, you may notice there is no limit anymore, only notches.}

"ok then, what kind of charms can I equip now?" I ask while thinking about how I thought I started with no charms

{you have 2 charms you can equip right now, one you started with, the other was a gift from what you dubbed 'the voice' earlier.}

"well what are they?" I asked wondering what charms they are.

{the first charm is the one you started with, Hollow Knights Legacy, when slaying the main antagonist or boss of a universe you can hop to another one, but when you wish to you can return to this universe and back freely.}

"t-this is, multiverse travel!?" I could not help the shocked exclaim that came out of me, "that means I could travel anywhere so long as the main story of that universe is ended right?"

{wrong, unfortunately you may only travel to universes that are either in progress, or several years before the main story has begun}

"darn! And the other charm?" I asked with my dreams of simply world hopping around shattered

{the second charm is, The Geo Converter, with all NPC's gone geo is practically useless this opens an exchange like screen that allows Geo to be turned into Pale Ore, Soul fragments, and mask fragments, allowing you to grow.}

"this sounds nice, but I can feel that catch from a mile away, what is it?" I ask

{the catch, is that Geo is the only thing allowed to be exchanged, and only into the three items, Geo is only found here in the world of Hollow Knight, that is why the Hollow Knights Legacy allows you to come back here and to the world you were in freely.}

"dang, well equip them and I'm going to start grinding." I told the screen, it does so and I hop off the bench.

I make my way to the other side of the Ruins of Dirtmouth, and see the well in which I am to jump down.

I take a deep breath, and fall forward into the well
