The hot guy from the mall

Chapter 11

Dove and Claire were having dinner in Claire's house.

They were talking about their day as usual.

"... I met this guy at the supermarket today," Dove was saying and paused to take a sip from her juice.

"So?" Claire asked, with interest. She loved gists from her friend.

"He is very handsome, charming and polite," Dove said and made an expression as if remembering her encounter with him.

Claire stared at Dove, listening to her words.

"He paid for what I purchased and we exchanged contacts."

Claire nodded.

"Of course, he would ask for your contact after paying for what you bought."

"Well, I didn't send him," Dove said and smiled. Their discussion diverted and they talked about business and then fashion.

" have having dinner with my neighbour, he has been trying to gain my attention for a very long time," Claire said.

"Which of them?" Dove asked like a protective mother hen.

"Smith... I think you know him," Claire said

"Uh uh!" Dove exclaimed, remembering who Smith was and winked at Claire.

"Have you chosen what to wear, let me dress you up tomorrow," Dove said clapping happily.

"Nah, I would manage by myself. Am not really looking forward to it," Claire said while wiping her mouth with a serviette.

She picked up her plate and put it in the dishwasher with a sigh.

"You shouldn't reject all the men and you must not reject this one. You should go on a date looking good and irresistibly hot," Dove lectured. "And you mustn't make him leave, like the last guy you had dinner with," She added warningly and with a playful glare.

Claire and Dove laughed in mockery as they recollected how claire's last date went.

Claire waved off Dove's words as she washed her plate.

"I will never go for a blind date," Claire vowed and She turned to pick up Dove's plate with the intention of washing but Dove swatted her hands off.

"I would wash it, Do you think I can't do the dishes I used in eating?" Dove questioned arms akimbo and pretending to be offended.

"You can't. You are used to having maids at your beck and call," Claire answered frankly with a shrug and Dove rolled her eyes at Claire's words.

"You didn't have to be so blunt," Dove said eating from the fruit salad.

"But that does not mean I can't do anything," She added to defend herself.

Claire grinned, picking up Dove's plate and washed it.

"I didn't say you can't do anything,"Claire said, drying the plate with a napkin before replacing it it's rack.

Claire yawned after dropping the plate in the rack.

"Don't tell me you are feeling sleepy," Dove said, frowning at Claire

"Yes, I need to go bed. I was so busy today and I have interview tomorrow, very early."

"You promised that we would watch a movie," Dove pouted.

"No, I didn't." Claire denied, trying to tease Dove.

"Claire," Dove pouted cutely.

"Alright go to bed. I would just watch alone," Dove added, trying to guilt trip Claire.

"Don't worry, I can stay up for a movie. Get the popcorn while I get the blanket," Claire said walking to the room.

"Kay Kay... You are the best!" Dove shrieked and blew Claire a kiss. She hurried to the kitchen to get the bowls that had been prepared.

A notification sounded and was surprised that a message popped on her screen.

"Who is this from?" She pondered, looking at the unknown number.

Somehow, a blush crept up her face unknowingly. It was the man she met at the mall.

'Hey,' She sent back her reply when she saw his message.

He then asked if she had dinner and Dove momentarily forgot what she came for as she leaned on the counter to reply his message.

His reply came in immediately and she smiled.

Claire stood at the door post of the kitchen as she watched her oblivious friend.

"What are you doing?" Claire asked and Dove signalled her to wait.

After sending her reply, Dove faced Claire with a smile.

"What are you doing?" Claire repeated her question.

"Chatting with the hot guy from the mall," Dove replied simply before turning to her phone.

"Well the film is getting started," Dove informed before carrying the popcorn bowls to the living room while Dove walked behind her, her eyes glued to the screen.

"Is what he is saying that funny?" Claire asked Dove who had been smiling since the film started.

It was obvious Dove was no longer interested in the movie as she kept her eyes glued to her phone at every pon sound.

Claire leaned her head on the head rest before falling into a deep sleep.

A younger Claire stood in front of a door post after being ushered in by an elderly man who was dressed in white.

Her eyes teary as she stared at the figure on the bed that was covered from head to toe with a white clothe. Her mind tried to understand what was happening, the hand held her shoulder to relax her.

Things happened fast and suddenly, she looked at the man who ushered her in and gave him a look of disbelief, she shouted her lungs out before looking at the figure on the bed, trying to shake the figure to wake up.

"Mom! Mom!" She screamed.

Claire woke up from her sleep panting, Dove quickly sat up, it seemed that Claire just had a nightmare. She had also fallen asleep too.

" You had a nightmare?" She asked, her voice soft and concerned.

Claire looked daze at first before replying with a weak yes.

"Aww! Come here," Dove drew her near and hugged her while Claire calmed, she resisted the weakness she was feeling.

After a moment, they separated.

"Seems like we fell asleep here. Let's go to the room," Dove said and they walked to Claire's room to complete the rest of the night.
