The day was passing by a bit faster and Mason let out a breath as he relaxed in his chair after a few hours of going through various documents.

"Hope you are working on what we talked about?" Mason said immediately. He stepped out of his office through the glass door, coming face to face with his diligent secretary.

Tilting his recommended glasses his nose further, Ben looked up from his computer.

"definitely sir. I will get back to you soon after all. I am sure you don't want to know how I am going about it", Ben replied in an obvious tone ,staring at his boss.

Mason cleared his throat, still standing in front of his office with his hands in his pockets, he cleared his throat auspiciously and walked away without another word, while Ben just smiled and returned to his work.

A few minutes later, Mason returned to his office space and was passing in front of his secretary's desk when Ben spoke up, but this time without looking up from his work.

"Mr Evan is waiting for you"

"Really?" Mason asked with a slight excitement to his tone, although not quite noticeable.

"Yes. He seemed to want to wait because he even brought a cookie pack", Ben replied, still not looking up from his work.

"okay. Thanks for the heads up 'sec' ", Mason commented ,unconsciously adjusting his tie and sleeve ,unbuttoned his coat jacket and taking in a deep breath, he turned open the doorknob of the glass door that led into his sleeves

And there he was, the man Mason was in love with and who may never find out, looking as cool and handsome as ever. Evan uncrossed his legs and smiled from where he sat , partially still scrolling through his phone.

"Why are you still standing there? Frozen or stunned by the large pack of cookies I bought?" Evan asked with his signature boyish grin.

Mason snapped out of his lustful thoughts and made his way over to his own desk opposite Evan, who was still scrolling through his phone with a nervous smile that was obvious to Evan but was something he perceived in another direction.

"You look good, Evie", Mason teased, although it was on a serious note on his part.

"Do not call me that" Evan commented with a slight chuckle in reference to the childish version Mason made of his name.

"You love it" Mason replied, taking his seat on his chair before relaxing.

"Whatever. Shut up", Evan replied, putting his phone down beside him as he pointed to the documents he had previously placed on Mason's desk.

"Gone through those yet?" he asked.

"Oh.. right" Mason said, acknowledging the documents, "I saw, but honestly, a contract with that distribution company is not really profitable and our previous distributor is going way below my budget. I was thinking of suggesting creating a distributing company as a sublet of the company at the next board meeting,. Are you with me?" Mason asked with a smile.

Evan leaned forward on his chin, then shrugged, "not such a bad idea. You know I am with you all the way though. Plus, you own 50% of the company shares, so.." Evan dragged out and dodged as Mason flung a document his way.

"Fuck off.." Mason said.

Evan chuckled "Gladly. I am hitting the club tonight. New batch of ladies. You coming?"

Mason's broad smile fell slightly unknown to Evan. Mason really wasn't ready for another painful scene of watching Evan grind against ladies all night while he watched with his frequently broken earth.

"Where are you going this time? Royal concise?" Mason asked

"Nah man, I was thinking about Palocene", Evan replied, then stood up, getting ready to go.

"Okay then. " Mason replied.

"I have to get back to my office. I have a meeting with the finance team at 2pm", Evan commented, looking at his expensive wristwatch. He was at the door already when Mason called out to him.

"Hey Evan?"

"Yeah.." Evan popped his head back in

"We should go see her soon" he said.

"Yeah, right" Evan replied, sounding clearly uninterested.

Mason sighed just as soon as Evan stepped out the door.

"Another complicated human in my life" he said.

"Welcome Home, Monsieur Mason", Sergio, the doorman said, as Mason took strides in

Although he regretted rejecting the offer to go to a bar with Evan and watch him dance while imagining the perfect lustful image, Mason decided that his sister took more priority and headed home.

"Hey Sergio, how are you this evening?" Mason greeted him back as one of the house maids quickly collected his briefcase and his coat jacket. Mason was unbuttoning his shirt sleeves as he walked up the stairs. He wondered if he should head to his sister's room first, but decided against it ,with the fact that he was going to get changed first

"Where is Mary?" he called out to one of the maids passing down below the stairs, who quickly looked up and said

"She's overseeing dinner preparations, sir."

Mason seemed to think for a minute as he started on the other sleeve button before replying

"tell her to come see me in the gym in 30minutes" 30 minutes

"okay sir" and the maid with her flowing dress disappeared from his sight as he continued his journey upstairs. He hesitated to move from his sister's door for a minute, waiting to see if she would come out to greet him as always, but he wasn't holding much expectations which reduced the disappointment crease on his way as he realized she was still angry.

As he changed from his formal outfit into something more comfortable, he wondered where he had gone through with his upbringing. Their parents, who got married despite the fact that no one in their family supported the decision, died when Mason was 12 and Lisa was 8. No one else showed up except Evan's dad, who was their dad's best friend. He managed the family business for them and gave it all to Mason when he was 18. Mason was never the spoilt type of kid and that was a real benefit, but the death of his parents did teach him one thing. Keeping those he loved safe ,in this case, those people were Lisa and Evan ,and although Evan didn't need much of protection, Lisa, on the other hand, was a rebellious teenager who hated her brother's protection and made sure she always went against it if she had a choice. She had tried running away from home twice but she was always found and dragged back home by her brother, who then decided it was time to restrict her movements and get her home schooled with the help of a private tutor, and although her rebellious attitude seemed to flare down, it wasn't entirely gone, and her being in college where she was open to a lot of things wasn't really helping and one of those days was today when Mason saw her get off the power bike smiling so widely at a boy who he was sure was not one of the good ones. No, he has to keep her safe.

Mason decided in his heart and hurriedly put on a casual outfit and headed out of his room towards his sister's lavished furnished bedroom kinds of stickers on it . One of them read "REMEMBER TO KNOCK!" in big red letters on a white bedroom. Mason sighed and knocked, once, twice then thrice but no response came from within and Mason concluded that she was probably still angry at him

"Lisa?" he called out without expecting much of a response, but maybe it was his imagination, but he could hear her shift her bed position. He sighed again and continued

"I am sorry about today, I was just trying to look out for you. You know since mom and dad died, leaving you out of my sight or in danger. The guy though, if you want. He could be your friend, however, I would like to meet him and interview him and I will get you a power bike tomorrow, okay? Is that fine? Lisa? Please talk to me " he begged slightly.

He stood still waiting to see if she would reply or open the door, when he heard a set of footsteps behind him.

" Sir?" a voice which belonged to Mary said.

" Had she eaten dinner already?" he asked.

"Yes sir but.." she started to say, then paused.

Mason turned around slowly, knowing what she was about to say next would definitely hit him and maybe a nerve or two.

"but?" he asked her to continue.

" She took the car and called to tell me she wasn't coming home tonight. She is staying over at Angela's and I have already confirmed with Angela", Mary explained and went mute, wondering what her boss's reaction would be.

He smiled slightly in a mocking tone Oh okay. You can go ahead "he instructed.

On entering his room, he sent a message to his secretary.

"I DON'T CARE HOW YOU DO IT, I NEED A NAME TOMORROW. GET IT DONE"
