Was the system even watching his performance to begin with or did the system just not give a fuck about whether or not the heroine's attitude changed towards him?

[Right, about that. I have indeed noticed a slight change in the heroine's attitude so I actually did a world scan while you were at the banquet, and according to my data and statistics it seems like the current plot hasn't deviated from the original plot, host.]

"What are you talking about? The current plot hasn't deviated from the original plot yet? Then how would you explain the current actions with the heroines then?" Ronald was genuinely confused at this point. How was there only a 'slight' change in the heroine's attitude? From what he's seen it seems like they've completely changed.

Either this system's 'data and statistics' has an actual loose screw in it or maybe the plot was actually still headed on the right track.

But after hearing other people's speculations last night, he has also thought about it, maybe his father did pay not only Luna, but also Xie Roulin a large sum of money and benefits in order for his son to have the greatest birthday party he'll never forget.

[I'm not too sure host, however it has been concluded that after your rebirth, the characters in this world have started to think outside the box and might act slightly different compared to the previous life, but rest assure host, the plot is still currently running smoothly.]

That confirmed it for Ronald, he understands now that during his previous life, the characters were just proceeding accordingly to the plot and so nothing had really changed in the first life, but now they had started thinking for themselves the second time around.

He should probably go tell his father later to not intervene with his personal problems so the plot can proceed smoothly without any other further problems.

Although this made Ronald ease up quite a bit, he still couldn't help but feel super uncomfortable, if all the characters started thinking for themselves this time around, it'll be harder for him to cope and adapt to the changes, but he'll deal with it once he gets there.

"Wait, since the plot has been considered to be going smoothly even with the heroine's weird change in attitude towards me, does that mean I can change my personality completely while still continuing with the plot?" Ronald didn't want to act like a simp anymore, it was super uncomfortable for him to act like an obedient slave towards someone he didn't even love.

[Sorry host, although I'm aware that it's not in your nature to dog lick someone, it has been confirmed that if you change your current attitude and personality, the entire plot will collapse, bare with it host.]

*Tsk* Ronald couldn't help but frown at that statement, even though he has done it for 7 years straight, he still feels way too restricted.

"If that's the case, can you regress me again? It just feels like too much has happened over the past day, and it'll be super hard for me to try and adapt to the current changes." Ronald's aware that the system will most likely not agree to his request, but it didn't hurt to ask anyways.

He wasn't surprised by the response, with the 7 years he's spent with the system, he knew that the system wasn't considered omnipotent and did have its flaws.

"Oh well, guess I'm completely stuck with you until I return back to earth." Ronald's completely aware that he's just a slave to the system, but it's not like he can really do much about it if he wants to go back to earth.

Plus, he has tried to oppose the system a couple of times before during his previous life, but that didn't really go well for him.

Everytime he has tried to oppose the system, the system would do some horrifying things to him that even some of the best cultivators of this world would rather choose to commit suicide than to deal with it.

That's right, cultivation does exist in this world.

But that's not as important, since Ronald would already be dead by the time cultivation was introduced in the novel, and besides, even if Ronald did encounter some of the strongest cultivators in the world this time around, he wasn't worried.

It was also hinted multiple times at the beginning of the original novel that Ye Fan was also a cultivator albeit weak compared to some of the other cultivators introduced later on in the story, but it wasn't fully confirmed that he was one until cultivators were fully introduced into the story.

However, it's still good enough for the protagonist to get through the first half of the story.

"Yeah, I'm aware." In his previous life, the system told him that even after he returns back to earth, the system will still stay by his side, although he doesn't know any reason as to why though.

He also just noticed that the system showed a slight fluctuation of emotion when saying that.

Even though it's hard to notice the system's emotions since the system acts emotionless most of the time, there are some rare occasions that the system would show a bit of emotions, and this was one of those rare occurrences.

Although Ronald was usually carefree and usually doesn't think too much about certain situations, there are times when he would ponder and think to himself about the identity of the system.

What does the system want from him?

It can't be to just complete the plot of the villain he was playing, right?

Why was he specifically chosen to transmigrate into this novel?

It couldn't just be because his first and last name were identical to the original villain's name, right?

What exactly IS the system?

Eh oh well, he couldn't really be bothered thinking about nor did he care about it right now, because he has to think about the next upcoming plot after all.
