Transendence

Updated every other day I don't proofread very well so it's likely that I'll miss some mistakes so feel free to correct me in the comments. SUMMARY One faithful night over 2 millennia ago the ascension of Christ opened a dimensional gash into the unknown. Frightened by it’s power the emperor instructed his priests to envelope the portal with the strongest wards they could muster, and formed a secret society dedicated to containing the otherworldly demons would rush from the portal on the darkest day of the year. But eventually the empire fell and with it the order and all knowledge of the rift. And so for the first time the mystery of the rift became preserved by the rubble. Half a century ago a certain anti-Semitic Reich in search of the occult unearthed the tomb. Causing the accumulated monsters to burst forth. The shear amount of demons was enough to ensure the annihilation of a large infantry platoon only to be once again sealed by several tons of concrete after 90 days of continual bombing. But still the Reich stationed soldiers-well aware of the potentially disastrous consequences that the rift could unleash. But eventually the remaining forces were recalled to defend the fatherland and the rift was forgotten once again until some time in the early 21 century. In the early 21st century physics experiments in detecting dark matter showed a strange and consistent discrepancy. Triangulating the errors a team of UN lead scientists managed to pinpoint the direction of the discrepancy at a certain mountain side near Rome. Soon the discovery of the Nazi research notes a new discipline was created. Metaphysical Affect Generation Interception and Control. Today dark matter is known as astral and the ones who study M.A.G.I.C are known as mages, and as the darkest day of the year approaches the rift once again grows restless. This is a story about a young boy in the future who transcends who he was and is to become someone that really exists.

Getting Lucky

Seeing his expression the girl. Licked her lips and narrowed her eyes. Sizing Lindens frail figure like a wolf eyeing a rabbit.

'Linden your heart rate spiked suddenly how are you feeling?' his assistant asked worryingly.

'F-fine.' Linden thought nervously.

After closing his eyes and centering himself he looked at the girl again. Only to jump back as Ashley's puckered up lips were mere millimeters from his face.

SMACK!

Involuntarily Linden let loose his open palm setting Ashley head to the side. Then the gravity of the situation hit him.

He had hit someone! Linden screamed internally. He had never hit anyone! Not even his relatives! What would the nice girl think of him now? Linden knew that he did not like his relatives who hit him.

Unable to see the mousey girls expression Linden was ready to beg and apologize. Only to see Ashley sparkling eyes.

"Oh rough play~! Maybe you're more advanced then I thought?"

"Eh?"

'I just hit you!' Linden thought incredulously 'Even animals will dislike people who cause them pain!' 'How can you enjoy this?' and other appropriate rebukes multiplied in his mind like bunnies. With so many to intelligent replies to choose from Linden opened his mouth and said:

"Y-your welcome Miss Luxton."

"Oh "Miss"..." Ashley said while moistening her lips. "I'm sure that we can do better than miss..." she said while puckering her lips.

'Linden your heart rate spiked again are you sure you don't need medical assistance?'

'Y-yes.' Linden thought weakly. Some part of him wondering how long it would be before he would really need an ambulance.

Linden suddenly realized that his girl was going to stick to him like glue regardless of his actions (if her expressions were anything to go by). He also felt that if he was ever going to make any friends it would be alright for him sacrifice some of his sanity.

Fighting back an aneurysm Linden plastered on a well practiced fake smile and said:

"Well-er I'm sure that we can do that Miss Luxton. Over dinner perhaps?"

"Oh my~ How forward..." Ashley replied coyly while flustering her eyelashes.

Lindens assistant suddenly whispered something in his ear.

"I'm sure you'll find me more then forward, especially when I'm beside someone like you..."

Linden gently rested his hand on Ashley's slapped cheek and slowly moved it down her increasingly flustered face. Suddenly leaning forward he whispered into Ashley's ears.

"Miss Luxton~"

It was her turn to be embarrassed.

The researchers in line who witnessed this scene were dumbfounded. Who knew that ten year olds could flirt so well nowadays?

Dinner was the best that Linden ever had. He had never felt so full before! Ashley wasn't so bad after they talked a bit. Even though she was still act in ways that made Linden feel funny, they happened far less often then when they had met in the line.

Since Ashley seemed to be here longer than he was. Linden began to mine her for information. He had learned that they were on some sort of secret government base the researched M.A.G.I.C. Linden thought that this was weird. He had seen videos of magic but how could that be real? Besides even if it were real how could a prig deserve something like magic?

Linden nearly fell out of his chair when he way Ashley levitated his fork to interrupt him.

"Look Linden, I think that the government has better things to do then to kidnap random children." Ashley stated bluntly between mouthfuls of vitro steak.

Linden respond by shuffling nervously.

"Look did some pervert named Leo come talk to you?"

Linden nodded.

"Yeah... Leo's the head of magic instruction so congratulations." Ashley paused to relish the next moment.

"Yer, a wizard Linden."

Thanks for reading.
