Chapter 23 – A Secret Deal

Both of them stared at each other in confusion before realizing what happened.

Ava realized that she made a mistake about Rasha's intention. The policewoman was actually unaware of Peter's ability and focused on helping him as a survivor of the dungeon.

Thanks to this, now Rasha became curious.

"What do you mean by Peter's ability? He's not just a normal person who can train others with his experience gained from the dungeon?"

"Forget I said anything. Sorry for taking your time."

"It's fine. Please tell me. I am on my break right now, so we can talk for a few minutes."

The policewoman shook her head slightly. She stood in front of the door. Now the locked room became a jail cell for Ava.

"Tell me what do you mean by Peter's ability?" She asked again while crossing her arms under her chest. "I can't help you if you don't explain things."

Ava couldn't help but sigh slightly while rubbing her forehead with her hand.

She made a mistake.

But then... Was it really a mistake? Peter didn't seem to hide what he could do and what his ability was. Rather, he seemed to tell everyone about it and was happy to help.

Remembering all his words, Ava didn't think she had to hide his ability. Besides… Smelling for an opportunity, she stroked his chin thoughtfully.

'This might be an opportunity.'

For some reasons, Peter was pretty happy and spirited to get a new student. And Ava also wanted people to join her gym.

What was the best way to do it?

'Other gyms work together with the government or Awakener group to secure members. Police force might have their own gym, but that doesn't mean it's enough for all their members. Besides, Peter also loves girls. It's a win-win for all of us.'

A grin crept onto her face as she looked at Rasha with a confident expression on her face.

"Since you're so curious, I will tell you about his ability." She licked her lips with her tongue as she stared at the policewoman. "But there is a condition. Don't worry, this will benefit you more than me if you accept it. You know that I am not a liar."

"Hmm, then I am willing to listen."

Rasha nodded her head slightly. Having known each other since high school, she knew that Ava was honest and trustworthy. And what she wanted to say must be important enough for her to be open about it.

Crossing her legs, Ava began to explain what Peter's ability was, how it worked, and the condition if Rasha wanted his help. Everything was revealed in front of her as she listened and kept quiet about it.

After a few minutes, when she was finished, Rasha nodded her head again while stroking her chin with her hand.

"I see... That might work. Please send the proposal to me as soon as possible. I will send it to my boss and ask him about it."

"Ha! As expected from a clever girl like you!" Ava smiled happily while extending her hand. "I know you won't fail me. Let's have pleasant cooperation."

'Good bitch! I will forgive you this one time. I love you, Peter. My golden boy! Hahahaha!' She laughed internally as she shook hands with the policewoman.

Suddenly, Peter sneezed while sitting on a bench in the park. He wiped his nose with his hand while wondering what just happened.

'Did someone just talk about me?'

He looked around and noticed no one around him. The only one close was a girl jogging while staring at him with a suspicious expression on his face. Peter ignored him as he got up from his seat and continued wandering around the park.

'Still, this city is really good. Technology has evolved greatly and there is lots of good food. The women are lewd, and there is no pollution in the air. I love this world already.'

As he walked around, he passed by an electronic board showing the news of the city. Two people on the screen talked about an Awakener tournament.

"The Awakener tournament is just around the corner. There are rumors about the government supporting the event and offering rewards to the top competitors. But still, it remains to be seen if this is true or not."

"Indeed. We will see many contestants this month. It's exciting to watch Awakeners showcase their abilities and see who is the strongest among them."

"Speaking of which, I heard that there is a new Awakener that has caught everyone's attention recently. Her reputation seems to have reached the level of a superstar in this industry. Do you know about her, Simon?"

"Her? It's a female Awakener? Maybe you're referring to Sonia the Lightning? She's one of the top ten Awakeners in this country and also a big name in the community."

"No, it's not her." The other reporter shook his head while looking at the camera seriously, "I am referring to an Awakener that calls herself Ruby. Her ability is fascinating and has caught everyone's attention since she started appearing in public not long ago."

Peter looked at the screen curiously. It seemed that there was an interesting new Awakener in town that no one could ignore.

From what he knew, he was in the biggest city of Aeon Country, the Neon City. And it was common for Awakeners to be famous here because there were so many of them in the population.

'Ruby, huh?' He rubbed his chin with his hand while thinking about this person that was gaining popularity recently.

A quick search on the internet showed that she was a girl in her early twenties who had made a name for herself by defeating several other Awakeners and was invited to participate in the tournament. She had a mysterious ability that couldn't be explained yet.

However, everytime she used it, rose petals could be seen on the battlefield. But apart from that, it was unclear what kind of power she had.

The reporter praised her for being beautiful and elegant while fighting with a staff, which was her signature weapon.

'Interesting. I'd like to meet her once.'

Just as he thought about that, a delicious smell caught his attention. He looked around and found a stand selling fried chicken and burgers.

'Burgers!'

In the dungeon, food was a luxury. There were no fast food restaurants or anything. He had to make everything himself from scratch. Because there were many monsters, his main diet was meat.

That was why when he saw the meat placed between two patties and a bun, he couldn't help but drool. He was famished and wanted to eat it quickly.

"I will have two burgers, please. With fries and a drink."

"I will have a cheeseburger. With a lot of sauces inside."

A voice rang alongside him as he ordered.

Peter turned around and saw a cute and small girl, a head shorter than him, standing beside him. She looked like a college student with her outfit and baggy jacket. Her red hair was tied into double small buns and the back part let loose, making her look adorable.

However, her expression didn't really fit the word cute. She scowled and had her chin raised.

He recognized her.

'Ruby.' He thought.
