New Moon 6

Skylar stood beside Bella at the ticket booth as they waited for the employee to hand them the tickets. She had heard about Bella's attempt to ride a motorbike and was glad she decided not to go.

As they waited she could hear the boys talking not too far from them and wondered if they were arguing. From the look on Mike's face, she could tell he was intimidated by the 16-year-old.

"Come on Skye," Bella said and began to walk towards the two boys. "Well Jessica bailed and Angela caught the stomach flu, so it's just us tonight,"

"Great," Mike said, glaring at Jacob. Skylar rolled her eyes at the boy and walked into the theatre.

The theatre was pretty full and the only seats were down in the front. Skylar told the group to buy whatever they wanted and she would hold their seats. She knew this was going to be weird because both Jacob and Mike liked Bella.

The three arrived just as the theatre went dark. Skylar sat beside Bella and Jacob, while Mike was on the other side of Bella. She looked at Jacob, "I'll swap seats if you want,"

Jacob nodded and swapped seats with Skylar. Throughout the movie, Skylar had a headache. Just out of the corner of her eye she could see Mike and Jacob's hands resting on Bella's armrest. Bella looked really uncomfortable.

"Put both your guns down or I'm going to blow your heads off," the guy in the movie said. It made Skylar cringe, this movie was so bad.

"I think I'm gonna be sick," Mike suddenly whispered and bolted from his seat. Skylar rolled her eyes and stood up with Bella and Jacob. The three exited the movie and stood near the bathrooms.

"What a marshmallow," Jacob remarked and Skylar giggled. She never really liked Mike, he was too much of a trier.

"Bella, you know you should go out with someone who has a much stronger stomach," Jake added, "someone who laughs at all the gore that makes the weaker men vomit,"

Bella laughed awkwardly, "I feel bad, he probably has that stomach flu that's going around,"

Jacob grabbed Bella's hand and pulled her away. Skylar felt uncomfortable, "Yeah I'll give you two a minute,"

She walked into the ladies bathroom and looked at herself in the mirror. Seeing Bella and Jacob together made her heartache. She really, really missed Carlisle.

Every day it got worse and worse, it was starting to make go completely out of her mind. She hoped he would come back soon. Skylar took a deep breath in and walked out of the bathroom.

She walked to only to see Mike and Jacob fighting, "Do you want me to put you in a hospital?"

Skylar rushed forward and put her hand on Jacob's arm, "Jacob calm down, you're burning up,"

He frowned as his breathing got rapid. He looked down at Skylar in panic, "I don't know what's happening to me. I gotta go,"

He rushed out of the theatre and Skylar watched him in confusion, "That guy is a weirdo,"

Skylar glared at Mike, "You're no better Mike,"

"Has he called you back yet?"

Skylar and Bella were sitting on Bella's couch playing a game of cards, "No, has he called you?"

"Nope," she said popping the 'p'.

Bella sighed, "Do you wanna go somewhere with me?"

"Where,"

"Jacobs,"

"Bella he's not feeling well, let him rest for a few days," Skylar looked down at her cards, "it's your go,"

"Please, Skye,"

Skylar stared at Bella for a moment before sighing, "Fine,"

"Great, let's go," Bella exclaimed dropping her cards down and grabbing her keys.

"Now?" Skylar said, "I was just about to win,"

Bella rolled her eyes and walked out the door with Skylar following behind.

Bella drove to La Push like Emmett did - like a mad person. It began to pour with rain as they got there. They parked at the house, just as a man came out.

Skylar narrowed her eyes as she went to open her door, "Jacob?"

His long hair was now cut off, he didn't have a shirt on and there was a tattoo on his shoulder. He only had shorts on as he trudged through the mud and rain.

"Stay here, I'll be right back," Bella said as she got out the truck.

Skylar watched their conversation. She saw Bella yelling at Jacob, but he only stood with a guilty look on his face. She saw Bella's sad expression as her friend began to cry. Jacob said a few more words before running off into the woods.

Bella marched back to the car soaking wet, "Bella-"

"I don't want to hear it," she snapped.

"Bella where are we going?" Bella drove the way to school. Skye had asked her where she was going a few times but Bella wouldn't answer.

"Follow me," Bella said as they pulled into the school parking lot.

Bella stayed silent as they walked up the path to the woods. She seemed to be in a hurry to get there, but Skylar noticed her look around a few times like she was lost.

"Do you even know how to get there?" Skylar asked. Her head was spinning as she walked/tripped through woods. A few days ago she noticed her coordination failing her every now and then. Natalia had tried to convince her to stay home, but Bella promised to take care of Skylar. How Skylar didn't know but that's what Bella said.

"No," Bella huffed, "but I'm trying to remember the way Edward went,"

Skylar continued to mumble under her breath. The walk took longer than Skylar expected, "Remind me to never come on bush walks with you,"

Bella laughed as they emerged through some small trees. Bella gasped and then a smile formed on her face, "This is it. We're here,"

Skylar looked around at the small meadow. She liked it but she didn't know why Bella admired it. Bella walked to a small patch of flattened grass and kneeled.

"It's where Edward took me right after I found out he was a vampire," Bella explained.

"Oh okay," Skylar said as she sat on a log next to Bella.

The two sat in silence for a moment. Skylar felt chills down her spine and a familiar presence approaching. She stood up quickly and looked around the area, "Skylar?"

"Bella, Skylar," Skylar turned to see Laurent emerge from the trees. He was in front of the two girls causing Skylar to jump.

"Hello, Laurent," Skylar said coldly.

The vampire smiled at Skylar, "I didn't expect to find you two here. I went to the Cullen's house only to find it was empty. I didn't think they'd leave you two behind. Aren't you two sort of pets for them?"

Skylar stepped in front of Bella to shield her, "They went on a trip, they'll be back soon,"

"Mm where did they go," he taunted, causing Skylar to scowl at him. Laurent turned his attention to Bella, knowing he wouldn't get an answer out of Skylar, "do they visit often, Bella?"

She blinked quickly, "Oh yeah absolutely, all the time. I'll tell them you stopped by. I probably shouldn't tell Edward though, he's pretty protective,"

"But he's far away, isn't he? And Carlisle-"

What do you want Laurent?" Skylar cut him off with an aggressive tone. It appeared that Laurent didn't know about Skylar's abilities by how casual he stood.

Laurent sighed, "I've come in favour of Victoria. She asked me to see if you were still under the protection of the Cullen's. She feels it's only fair to kill Edward's mate, seeing as he killed hers. An eye for an eye,"

Bella panicked, she shook her head, "Edward would know who did it! Skylar would tell him. He'd come after you,"

Skylar squeezed her eyes shut, thanks a lot Bella. It wasn't like she couldn't protect them, she had her powers. But she didn't know if she had the strength to hold a vampire anymore.

"Oh but I don't think he would. After all, how much could you two mean to him if they left you behind, unprotected?" he mocked.

Skylar put her hand on Laurent's chest as he began to stalk towards Bella. Laurent back off, amused at Skylar's bravery, "Victoria won't be happy about me killing you. But, I just can't help myself, you are so mouthwatering,"

"Laurent, you helped us," Skylar tried to stop him, "why would you be helping Victora now?"

"Don't be afraid," He said softly, he was now standing in front of Bella with Skylar to the side, "I'm doing you a kindness. Victoria plans on killing you slowly, painfully, whereas I'll make it quick. I promise you'll feel nothing,"

He opened his mouth, baring his teeth and Bella tensed, "Edward, I love you,"

Skylar turned her hands towards him and shot a ball of energy at Laurent. He landed further away on the ground with a shocked expression, "How did you-"

She lifted a hand and clutched her fingers almost making a fist. Laurent lifted with her hands and Skylar flew him into a tree, "I think it'd be best if you leave,"

He regained composure and covered his shock. Laurent took a step forward making Skylar turn her hands. The vampire now let out a painful yell which echoed through the forest. He was paralyzed in Skylar's powers. "Skylar!"

Skylar turned to look at Bella. Bella was staring behind Skylar and Laurent with her finger pointing in the air. She gasped when she saw some wolves emerge from the trees.

She put her hands down releasing Laurent and turned to the wolves. They were huge, bigger than normal wolves. The leader was a towering black wolf who stopped in its tracks to snarl at Skylar and the vampire.

"I don't believe it," Laurent whispered. The black wolf was immediately joined by 6 other wolves, all huge but not as big as the alpha. The alpha barked at the pack like he was giving orders before he began stalking towards the vampire.

Skylar moved away but kept her hands ready if the wolves turned on them. She walked backwards till she was standing next to Bella. The girl glanced at Skylar's hands. She would be lying if she said she wasn't scared of Skylar's abilities.

A sandy-brown wolf walked up to them and stopped. It seemed to look straight into her eyes like it knew who they were. The wolf snapped out of its trance and continued turned back to the vampire.

Skylar dropped her hands when she realized they weren't in any danger. The black wolf suddenly lunged at Laurent. Laurent, however, stood his ground and pushed the wolf towards the humans. The wolf got up shaking off and continued the fight.

When Skylar looked up the wolves and Laurent were gone. She grabbed Bella's hand and started pulling her away, "Come one let's get out of here,"
