CHAPTER 7

Should we start from the D.J mixing beautiful Igbo love songs from Larry Gaga, Flavor, Chike and the rest. The event was full of well to do and important people in the society. Patricia's mum being a teacher invited all the board of teachers in her local government. Their beautiful ankara stood out in the crowd.

"This wedding is very loud o; who could have known that Mama Kate will eventually marry one of her daughter off to a rich man in grand style like this. Her older sisters are a disgrace to the Igbo culture. Getting pregnant out of wedlock. A badloom! Chai!".

Everyone was merrying as the servers and party attendants entertained the guest. The Akerejogbon's came to the party in their numbers and so were the Siyabonga's family. Their outfit and charisma couldn't be ignored as the swayed with elegance while walking to their seats.

"Patricia. Omalicha, look at my beautiful daughter who has made me a proud mother. Chai! Your uncles including your father are happy you brought a good man home".

"Mummy, what is your definition of good man", Patricia looked at mum one kind.

"He is rich Patricia. Have you seen what they brought for your bride price. They brought double of what the elders asked for. Those people really cherish you and that is a definition of a good family."

The party lasted for three days and the media had something to talk about. It was truly a wedding one could hope for. Patricia's parents could not hide their joy as they were smiling and giltering all through the party. It's every parents joy to see their children's celebration.

"Take care of my daughter. She is the apple of my eye. Please treat her well", Patricia's father had said when he and the Akerejogbon's escorted us to the airport.

"Don't worry sir. She is save with me. I will take care of her".

"Patricia behave yourself when you get there o. Don't give your husband too much problem o and reduce your anger. You should stop it", her father stroked her hair.

"It's time for us to go sir. If we continue like this, we will miss our flight".

The expression on Gogo, Melokuhle, Kelita and Christy was a sad one. After spending a month with them, Tayo and I decided to relocate to the United States of America because staying with them will only cause more rift between them and the Akerejogbon's.

"So, when do you plan on going?", Melokuhle asked softly.

"Next week ma. We will be leaving next week", Tayo replied promptly.

"What if you get a house here. You don't have to leave entirely", Christy whined.

"It's the same thing Christy. I don't want to be partial at all. My dad tried his possible best to keep me in Nigeria and Umama can go extra miles to keep me too", Tayo replied.

"I am already missing you darling", Gogo squeezed Tayo's hand.

"I will miss you all too", Tayo smiled.

Tayo and I finally made a decision to save both families of Siyabonga and Akerejogbon from unnecessary rivalry by staying in the states. Staying in Nigeria will not make the Siyabongas happy and so will staying in South Africa will not make the Akerejogbons happy either. It is better to be on the saver side with both families and I am happy things worked out for us where we found ourselves now.

"The real fun is being with the love of my life without family issues and I am happy both families understood our predicament."

Love is sweet and being in good terms with the family is best.
