"Why so quiet, Misaka-san?" Kanaru said when he saw that Misaka was not moving.

She finally spoke.

"That's impossible! That amount of electricity is close to my level. I don't know of any other electromaster that have so much power." Misaka said.

"Close?" Kanaru shook his head.

He launched a black lightning at Misaka.

'But… challenging me with lightning is the dumbest thing.' Misaka thought.

Misaka tried to repeat the same action that Kanaru did before.

Just before the black lightning reaches her arm, the black lightning deflected into the sky.

She looked incredulous at Kanaru.

"You idiot... that would have ripped your arm off." Kanaru said. He continued speaking.

"That lightning doesn't just have electricity, there's something else mixed..." Kanaru said.

"Shut up! I can stop it with my own ability!" Misaka exclaimed.

Kanaru looked at Misaki. She was on the edge of the building with a worried expression.

["I know what I'm doing"] Kanaru said through telepathy.

She concentrated a large amount of electricity on her hand.

Misaka caught the black lightning in her palm easily, but...

The black lightning finished consuming Misaka's lightning and quickly headed for Misaka's skin.

"Ah----" Misaka knelt down and grabbed her arm.

She got up and looked at Kanaru. He walked towards her.

"What was that?!" Misaka asked when Kanaru was close to her. She kept gripping her arm tightly.

Kanaru shook her head and pointed at her right arm.

"That pain you felt was from attacking Shokuhou-san with more than 20.000 V." Kanaru said quietly. He continued speaking in the same tone.

"It surprises me that you have fought with me even with those wounds that ITEM made you 2 days ago. You were very hurt, but still… it was very unwise to fight another battle when you know that I am stronger than Mugino." Kanaru said.

"How do you know that?" Misaka asked in surprise. She doesn't remember seeing anyone other than Mugino and her team in that laboratory.

"You attacked the labs in District 7, I did the same in District 13. I heard that ITEM was being hired as a guard at one of the labs in District 7, with that and those injuries from before… it wasn't difficult to guess." Kanaru said.

"If that's the case then... you're a murderer!" Misaka exclaimed.

["Hikari-kun... she..."] Misaki was worried.

["Don't worry about what she said."] Kanaru said through telepathy.

"I am, I don't care if you hate me or disgust me for being a murderer. There is something important I want to ask you about." Kanaru said.

"About what?" Misaka asked still irritated.

"Do you want to finish the Level 6 Shift Project?" Kanaru asked. He was looking directly at Misaka.

She stepped back a few steps upon hearing those words.

She began to remember the true reason why she came here with Shirai.

She lost miserably against Accelerator days ago when she tried to save one of her clones. She was very afraid of that absolute power, because of that she decided to sabotage all the laboratories dedicated to that project instead of defeating Accelerator, but... everything was useless when many more labs appeared as replacements.

Then she saw this morning a video where the second strongest esper in this city was defeated by someone completely unknown. She knows that she can't beat Kakine Teitoku because his wings are able to withstand all her railguns. And when she saw that guy was defeated, she didn't want to believe that someone else was better than her... one more time.

"You... can you defeat Accelerator?" Misaka asked.

"Yes." Kanaru nodded, but soon after he corrected.

"But I can't do it alone, if I do it that way many people will die." He ended up pointing to Misaka and Misaki.

"Caring about people? But you are a murderer…" Misaka said.

"Will you help me or not?" Kanaru asked for the last time.
