It was only 5 in the morning when Nicolette woke up. Thankfully the house had a bathroom other than the one connected to Vance's bedroom. She freshened up and went into the bedroom to check up on him.

At first she did not think that there was anyone on the bed. Vance was wrapped in a blanket and from the entrance of the room he seemed like a veg roll. As she walked forward, she found his head popping out. The winter had ended and still this guy slept so warm, she thought. She looked around the room and found an AC. Well, in the summer she would take the bedroom should they be together. He can sleep warmly outside. She wanted to wake him up so she slowly pulled the blanket away from his face.

When she saw his sleeping face, she thought god really did not do justice to other people. He was already so handsome and his early morning face had its own extra cuteness. She suddenly wanted to squeeze that face. She tugged the blanket harder but Vance had no reaction. She called him four times with no success. She tapped his shoulder twice but he was as dead as dough. She playing alarm bells on full volume on her phone for two entire minutes and it gave her a headache. Vance, however, was still asleep.

As a last resort, she sprinkled some water on his face. Only his brows twitched and he was back to his peace. Nicolette understood that she won't be able to awaken him after all the failed attempts.

She looked at the clock and it was only half past five. She let him be and proceeded to search for some eatables. She took some fruits and ate them before sprawling on the floor with her phone. For the next two days they did not have to go work.

At exactly 6:30 Vance woke up. Hearing the sound, she rushed to ask him for a charger for her phone. As she expressed her urgency, Vance gave her a once over before pointing at a draw. She quickly took the charger out and walked out of the room to find a socket.

When Vance came out of the washroom, he remembered that she slept on the couch. He found Nicolette lying on the floor with her hands stretched out. He was baffled and asked her, "What the hell are you doing?"

She popped her head up to look at him. Then she laid back and said, "Finding comfort." Vance didn't know what to say. He would probably have to give up his study to make place for her. Nicolette was a lady with elegance and etiquette. She did not fancy being on the floor either but the wooden floor was pretty tidy. Whose house would be so small like? Did he not consider even one guest?

"Don't you invite your friends?" She asked out of curiosity.

"I did.. A lot of times for lunch or dinner."

"What if a guest needs to stay overnight?"

"I just loved this place and no one needs to stay overnight. If they should, I will book them a nice suite. There are many hotels nearby." Nicolette pulled a quizzical face. She had numerous girls nights with her friends. But boys didn't seem to do such stuff. She barely knew Nereo's friends.

Seeing that she had no intention of moving, Vance asked her, "How did you sleep last night?"

"Not too bad. It was okay."

"Are you going to get off the floor or not?"

"No. Your couch is so small, I don't feel like lying down on it."

"The bed is yours now. Just get off the floor."

"It's okay," she said and stood up. She walked to the couch and sat relaxing her neck.

"Just go and get some sleep."

She thought why not when the owner did not have any problem. "I ate an apple and two oranges." She said and walked to the bedroom.

"I will wake you up for breakfast a little late then?" He asked for her confirmation.

"Thanks. Do you need anything from here?" She asked as she stepped into the bedroom.

"Not really."

"Alright," she smiled. She closed the door gently without any noise and locked it before falling on the bed.

Vance proceeded to cook a light breakfast. Only after three days could he go to work, or it would be weird. He checked his phone for a while. Having nothing more to do, he went into the study room to see if he could clear out some things.

There was a wooden cupboard full of books in one corner. A swivel chair and a medium sized table sat in the middle of the room. The rest of it was almost empty. But he loved the view of the windows of that particular room.

Well, all he had to do was align the table to a corner and that should provide space enough for a single bed. He loved working at the table and occasionally looking at the peace and serenity outside. Moreover, it would be very laborious to move the table out of the door.

He looked around the room standing by the door and window. He decided he will have to change the direction of his chair away from the window. He wanted to push the table by the side of the books cupboard and touch it's bigger side to the wall while. The chair would be kept on the other side.

As he tried to move it, he realised it was very heavy. When he had bought it, three people had to carry it into the room, he remembered. He tried pushing it from one side and then pulling from the other side. He then tried to slowly lift a corner of the table up an inch and see if he could rotate it by the other corner. Nothing seemed to work. After all of his efforts the table had barely moved two feet. Now it was in an oblique position.

He sat down on his chair and lightly swiveled from side to side for a while before moving the table by another two feet.

He understood he would need help but asking Nicolette would probably be out of order and maybe even rude. He tried to move the table more after getting some water. He would have to ask for her help. The table was really heavy and if he couldn't move it, no other man could. She should not judge, he thought. After all, he was willing to share without any acquiescence.
