Chapter 4: Soul Collector
Vis never thought of himself as a prideful individual.
But he possessed a strong will that allowed him to overcome many situations. He knew when to stop or when to push, but the unknown thing Blue Icewing had done to him totally overruled that.
He just felt himself dying slowly yet the coldness kept his body intact. From within, an unusual sensation slowly slipped away to the outside in the form of a transparent silver ball.
This ball floated before his chest for a little, then green chains suddenly enveloped his body. The appearance of those chains broke the common sense, bringing Vis' chest alive as it began pounding loudly.
He just kept looking at those chains with fear in his eyes.
It was a genuine feeling, his heart would never lie to him!
"What do we have here?" The Soul Collector's screeching voice froze the time itself. His hands extended from behind Vis and his eyes immediately followed those.
This abnormal existence stopped its dark bone hands a little before a grayish soul and black energy in the form of streaks with green tinge swirled around it.
His excitement grew higher as his breathing could be now felt on Vis' neck.
"A soul with two different timelines… How tasty… It's such a treasure." As the soul collector kept whispering to himself, Blue Icewing slowly flapped her wings. The whole blue lake shook gently, yearning for the death's attention.
Soon, green eyes went up to match the frozen ones, "..."
"Your Excellency. I am Blue Icewing, the general of the fallen Ice Venerable." She spoke with the utmost respect, her whole lake similarly treating the new visitor.
It actually escaped from the Soul Collector's side.
Rather than being submerged in water, the Soul Collector was 'surrounded' by the waves from both sides which were all paying utmost respect to him.
Seeing the green eyes narrowing slightly, Blue Icewing immediately continued, "I have spotted the uniqueness of this man's body and soul. My will was to immediately stop him here and call you so that you could savor his soul as soon as possible."
This made Vis' eyes tremble with anger.
Ignoring this burst of 'mortal anger', Blue Icewing ended her speech with a request, "I would like to request you to cleanse the mortal body of the Titan God's bloodline and allow me to take care of it."
Vis soul and body were splendid despite his bloodline being thin.
The Soul Collector burst out with laughter after hearing this request, "Instead of joining your Ice Venerable, you are trying to begin a new life? Laughable." The chains loudly shook, then began to threaten the blue existence, "I will pass what happened here to him and will listen to your affectionate reunion! Kekekeke!"
The sound of bones quivering became the only thing audible in the lake together with Soul Collector's genuine laughter.
He kept laughing while Blue Icewing whispered in shock, "Ice Venerable's soul… is still within Your Excellency?" The mystery of Soul Collector's existence has never been unveiled by anyone.
Entirely, that was.
Some people knew what hid behind his abnormal source of strength, some also knew about him a little.
What Ice Venerable and his people had never known was that the Soul Collector completely loathed people who tried to change bodies with their souls intact.
It was exactly what Blue Icewing wanted to do right now, so her request had been impossible from the beginning!
"Kekeke!" The death existence laughed, its chains going forward for Blue Icewing's real body!
That was why those chains went below rather than focusing on the manifestation.
On the other hand, the frozen waves suddenly shattered and swept through the dry area with an intent to smash down the Soul Collector's existence!
But was that really it? "I will break this man's soul then! I won't just go down, Soul Collector!"
"Are you that terrified of a nice talk with Ice Venerable?" The bones clacked yet again, then the black bones suddenly grasped the soul! This made Vis groan, but Soul Collector couldn't care less.
It would be weird if he did.
But his next action actually helped Vis as Soul Collector pushed the soul back to his body!
The black ribs then opened wide and swallowed up Vis fully, lending him something akin to bone armor.
Within Soul Collector, Vis looked at the chains smashing down the blue lake's bottom! Those chains mercilessly pulled out the blue bird that was small and wounded. It had many red stains over its feathers.
The best comparison would be the eyes, though.
Compared to the manifestation, the eyes lacked bright light and just stayed so lifeless that anyone would feel pity.
Both Soul Collector and Vis didn't feel much pity, though.
Instead, Vis just turned to the side and glanced at the waves that descended upon the Soul Collector.
Through the gaps in the skeletal body, Vis peeked at the waves that just washed over the Soul Collector's body.
No drop reached Vis and he sighed with relief.
"AHHH! AHHHH! Y-YOU! YOU MONSTER!" The cries and screams pulled back Vis' attention and he glanced at the blue bird wrapped in the chains. Those chains were tightening with each second, the future clear even to the mortals.
From above, Vis was assaulted by the laughter, "Kekeke! Wasn't it 'Your Excellency'? If you say it once again… then I will set your soul free."
The cries slowly subsided despite the chains tightening.
Looking at this from the inside, Vis uttered to himself, "No way, right?"
But to his surprise, Blue Icewing slowly spoke like a maiden, "Y-Your Excellency! Your Excellency!"
"Kekekekeke!" The Soul Collector's bones were never that loud!
She died a few minutes later, her soul passing close to Vis' face who finally got freed of the skeleton's insides.
