Once the ship docked near the end of the island, everyone got off and started towards the town. While they were walking, Luffy looked around for the Mariners who might have seen them enter the island. He was quite surprised when he saw no one there.
He had thought that with a bounty like his, the Marines would do everything in their power to try and stop him from re-entering the Grand Line, but it seemed that even though they sent more Marines to this island, they were doing a terrible job patrolling the island.
Luffy isn't complaining; after all, he doesn't want to start trouble yet. When the crew reached the main shopping area entrance, Luffy turned to his crew and spoke.
"Okay, see you later." "I'll find out where they killed him here," he said before walking away, leaving his entire crew confused. Luffy's main goal for coming to this island was to see the place where Gol D Roger died, but before he could go to the execution platform, there was something he needed to do.
He was currently walking down the main street, looking through all the shops, trying to find the one he was looking for. After walking for a while, he finally saw "Rita Tailored Clothing." The shop's sign caused Luffy to smile before walking over to it.
When she entered, she saw mannequins in suits and coats of all designs, shelves with different colored fabrics, and in a corner near the very back of the shop, she saw a small register counter above it and an old lady standing behind the counter looking at her.
"What can I do for you today, young man?" he asked in a friendly tone. Luffy smiled back and started walking towards him.
"I was wondering if you could add something to my coat," he said as he took off his coat and placed it on the table. The woman looked at him with questioning eyes before she asked him a question.
"Are you a pirate?" he asked. Luffy looked at her and smiled widely before he answered.
"Right," she said, causing the old lady to match her smile.
"It's been a while since I've had a pirate as a customer," he said as he picked up his coat and started to examine it. "I'm starting to think I'm going to die before I see one more come in here." "Let me guess, you want me to add your jolly rod to the back of your coat seeing as you already have your own coat," he said as he turned away from his coat and looked at Luffy.
Luffy smiled at her and reached into his pocket, pulling out his Jolly Roger, and handed it to Rita.
"Yes," said Luffy as he handed it to her. Rita looked at the picture, and her eyes widened.
"You have a scary Jolly Roger, young man," he said, causing Luffy to laugh.
"I'm glad it did its job," said Luffy as he looked around the shop. "How long will it take you to add it?" he asked.
"It won't take long; give me a moment," she said before turning from the table and sitting down in front of the sewing machine that was there.
Luffy started walking around the shop, looking at the clothes that were there. As Luffy was looking around, he spoke to the old lady.
"So you used to have a lot of pirates as customers?" Luffy asked while looking at the number of shirts that were there. From her position in front of the sewing machine, the woman answered.
"Yeah, right," he said as he worked on Luffy's coat. "Pirates used to come to this island non-stop on their way to the Grand Line, but all that changed when Marine Smoker came to this island. "Since then, every pirate who steps foot here will be caught and executed," he said in disgust. Luffy laughed before answering.
"That's good," he said, surprising the woman. As Luffy said, his sewing machine stopped, and his head spun around and stared at him with wide eyes.
"I mean, these days, everyone with a boat claims to be a pirate." "If they can't get past one of the Marine Captains, they have no right to even try to enter the Grand Line," Luffy said before looking at him with a grin on his face.
Rita smiled at him and went back to sewing.
"You are a strange young pirate," he said with a chuckle. Luffy walked back to the counter and leaned against it before he spoke.
"My name is Monkey D. Luffy," he said while looking at the woman as she worked on the sewing machine. Without looking at Luffy, he spoke.
"Ah, I see." "So that's why you look so familiar; you're a rookie pirate with a big bounty on your head," he said before he stopped the engine and lifted his coat to get a good look.
"You make the marines pretty nervous around here, you know," he said with a chuckle before going back to working on his coat. Luffy laughed a bit before answering.
"Not my fault; they are all cowards," Luffy said, causing the old lady to laugh. After waiting for a few more minutes, the old lady finally finished her coat.
"Here, all done," he said as he handed the coat over to Luffy. He picked it up, looked back, and immediately smiled.
Sewn on the back of his coat is an image similar to his Jolly Roger: a Japanese Hanya mask wearing a straw hat with two flashes in place of crossbones.
"Perfect," she said before putting it on. "How many?" he asked. The old woman walked up to the counter and pressed a few buttons before she answered.
"2, 000 berries," he said. Luffy nodded before reaching into his pocket and pulling out a stack of bills, counting a few before handing them to the woman.
"Here you go, thanks," he said as he handed over the money and turned to leave. As he walked out of the shop, the old woman spoke to him one last time.
"Good luck, young man," she said as Luffy walked out the door, causing Luffy to sigh.
"Why won't she use my name?" he asked himself before walking down one of the narrow alleys. He didn't want to walk down the main street with his Jolly Roger clearly visible on his back for all to see.
It's still too early to cause trouble, and he hasn't gone to the execution platform yet. So, he started walking to the platform using all the small, interconnected alleys that Logue Town had.
As he walked through alley after alley, turning this way and that, Luffy realized
"I'm lost," he said with a sigh as he started looking around, trying to figure out the right way to go. Zoro would be proud.
