In the conference room, seeing Jiang Yu at the head of the meeting table, everyone was very excited.
Even Cooper, who always enjoyed joking around, spoke with caution, afraid that a slight misstep might drive Jiang Yu away.
Jiang Yu said, "Since you all want me back so badly, get ready for a new round of busyness!"
"To tell you the truth," Cooper said with a smile, "We've been ready for a while."
Amid the laughter of everyone in the room, Jiang Yu slightly smiled and said, "I've called this meeting today primarily for three matters."
Everyone immediately quieted down to listen to Jiang Yu's speech.
"The first matter is the Shadow Plan!" Jiang Yu gestured towards Little Q who had come with him, "This plan aims to add an extra layer of insurance to humanity's main world."
Little Q connected to the conference room's computer and used the room's three-dimensional image system to play the plan, narrating it:
"This two-dimensional strike has taught us a profound lesson, that only outside the 'Spotlight' is relatively safe.
"However, from the intelligence provided by Earth, the planetary systems that are dark and lacking various resources are not suitable places for biological settlement.
"Dark Domain indeed has the same effect, but it's a passive approach to dealing with the Dark Forest. Once this step is reached, it's equivalent to sentencing one's own star system to death.
"A low-efficiency civilization without any upward mobility will also face many problems.
"The Shadow Plan is a middle-ground solution; the specific operation is to destroy a planetary system's star, creating an advantageous 'outside the Spotlight' environment by ourselves.
"The recommended method for destroying the star is to use light particles."
Everyone took a deep breath. Jiang Yu's earlier remarks were not made casually, indeed they were in for some busy times.
Then, everyone felt relieved that the Wallfacer they knew was back. Even if it was a defense-oriented plan to add an extra layer of insurance for humanity in his eyes, it was still aimed at the identity of a Dark Forest attacker.
Little Q continued, "After the star of a planetary system is destroyed, the system will only have a very low probability of suffering another Dark Forest Strike.
"We can build a large number of Space Cities in this system and relocate a certain population. Each theoretical and technological breakthrough should be backed up there.
"To prevent the main world of humanity from suffering a more thorough Dark Forest Strike that might affect the entire progress of human development!"
After Little Q's introduction, Jiang Yu asked everyone, "What are your opinions on this plan?"
After thinking for a few seconds, Hao Ying asked Rix William, the Dean of the Science Academy, "Do we have the possibility of developing light particles in the near future?"
Ricks, with his blond hair, pinched his chin and said, "It's not impossible. Although there are some technical challenges, I believe we should be able to overcome them within thirty years."
He then explained to everyone, "We've essentially mastered the theoretical model for generating light particles, which is accelerating microscopic matter to near the speed of light.
"Currently, there are two main challenges: one is the need to develop a Super Particle Accelerator, and the other is to provide an enormous amount of energy for the accelerator.
"For the former, we have built the Huanri Particle Accelerator more than once, and after improvements and optimizations, we should be able to construct an accelerator that meets the requirements.
"The latter will benefit from the breakthrough in the matter stream engine, taking us to a new level in energy application.
"Although the matter stream engine is still in the experimental stage, the efficiency of the experimental machine is already more than twenty times that of a nuclear engine. I believe that after our improvements, this multiple will increase even more.
"A physicist once said that accelerating one particle to the speed of light would require the energy of the entire Solar System.
"That's because our understanding of energy was rather superficial. With the matter stream engine and enough dark matter collected in advance, we don't have to worry about energy issues.
"The enormous energy driving even a fundamental particle to reach speeds close to light speed will possess tremendous power and could even cause distortions in space."
Hao Ying nodded, "Thank you for the explanation. Since there's this possibility, the Governing Council will do its utmost to coordinate resources for your research."
Seeing no objections from others, Jiang Yu said, "Good, let's move this plan into the implementation phase, with a special team from the Governing Council to follow up."
He paused and then continued, "The second plan is called the Eraser Plan, aiming to conceal or eliminate space trails.
"I've discussed this plan in advance with the Dean of the Science Academy, so I'll let him explain it."
"Alright," Ricks cleared his throat and continued, "Firstly, we're facing a problem. When the Pioneering Fleet reached the New Continent Star System, we accidentally left space trails inside the system.
"As a result, our interstellar travel within the system is quite inconvenient, as we always need to be cautious to avoid those trails. Moreover, these trails could increase the chance of us being discovered.
"Then there's this premise: whether it's our exploration of nearby planetary systems in the recent decades, or messages from Earth.
"Aside from our trails, we've barely discovered any other space trails in outer space.
"Logically, with curvature spaceships, time becomes a controllable cost, and distances within a few thousand light-years are just considered a long-haul trip.
"The space trails formed during our interstellar migration outside the Solar System are not particularly noticeable, but if we open travel between two planetary systems, the accumulated trails will eventually become very conspicuous one day.
"We are already in this situation, so what about those civilizations that frequently enter lightspeed travel from their home planets? They should be easier to detect, right?
"Following this line of reasoning, the universe has been in existence for so many years, and there should be more than just a few space trails!
"For this, the Wallfacer made two hypotheses: the first is that only a few civilizations use curvature Lightspeed Spaceships, and many Advanced Civilizations are using more advanced lightspeed travel!
"The second is that some civilizations that often 'venture far' have ways to hide or eliminate their space trails.
"We do not have a conclusion yet for this issue. If it's the former, we must strictly regulate the flight frequency of curvature spaceships before we have trail-less lightspeed ships available.
"So as not to let the trails accumulate and become observable from a great distance.
"If it's the latter, then we should master the related technology as soon as possible to avoid exposing ourselves."
After Chris finished speaking, Jiang Yu said, "I lean more towards the latter hypothesis; I believe curvature spaceships must be a phase that every Advanced Civilization goes through.
"Thus, the fact that we have observed so few space trails suggests that there should be methods to conceal one's own trails."
This time, it was Number Three's turn to ask Chris, "Is there a technical possibility of achieving this?"
