Chapter 48 – Well, end of peace?

2 weeks had passed after I moved to the D rank danger zone.

And honestly, things are going perfectly!

I was avoiding adventures as much as possible and only hunting around every 3th week in order to gain some info, but so far, I was able to hunt without problem.

This feels great!

Hunting around without the care about the world is easy!

As soon as I stopped worrying and everything, my leveling up speed noticeable increased. Not only that, but after my letting myself lose, I could tell that I was getting better at fighting.

It was like that time when I fought that grey wolf, centipede and that dungeon boss.

I screw all reason and went full feral.

I guess fighting like an animal has its benefits?

Maybe it's like I'm getting used to fighting like a beast?

Well, besides being a monster that is made out of plant and ice, I'm also a beast.

Honestly speaking right now. Fighting like the beast does have its own benefits.

But fighting cunningly and using strategy as well as magic is also good fighting style.

Maybe I can mix it somehow? "Fight like a beast but also fight like person." Or something? I don't know how to describe it really.

Well, maybe I will come up with some fancy name while developing this fighting style. But would that thing be really be an "Fighting style" in the first place?

Anyway.

So far so good.

Honestly, there isn't anything interesting going on right now.

I could level up way faster right now, but that would leave some mess that would alert the adventurer guild and I don't want that.

Still, things are going progressive easy.

Not only that, its slowly started snowing.

I can tell that my power is acting up!

With the coming of the winter, my power is getting noticeable bigger!

As soon as the winter starts for real, I'm heading to the D+ rank danger zone.

Honestly speaking, the D rank zone is no challenge for me what so ever.

And that wasn't the part of the plan. I thought I would struggle a lot, but nope.

But still, the D+ rank zone maybe far more challenging than D rank zone.

Honestly, I don't think if I can have easy time like when I was hunting at the D rank zone, but it's better to wait for the winter to come.

I can assets the danger level of the D+ zone more safely and judge if I'm ready for it, without the power of the winter.

Still… I can't still believe the things are going so easy for such long time.

No real dangerous problems or anything.

I thought I would run into something by now and I was prepared to even run away, but nope. Just peace.

Well, I'm not complaining.

I'm still an monsters and the only form I can take is that of a little girl.

The people will hunt me down since I'm monster and I cannot really deceive people with a little girl form, since they would question me and other stuff. Honestly, the trick I used before with getting adopted by the Boar village was bit risky and I was prepared to kill everybody in case it failed.

But it succeeded.

Honestly, when I was born in this world, my early days were hell and I often came close to dying.

But after becoming leshy, there was no longer any problems.

I became stronger than I originally though.

Not only that, I learned some stuff about this world and all.

But I still don't know how strong I'm on the average monster or adventurer power level.

I need to grow more! I need to evolve! I need to become stronger!

And then I will wander what the heck do I want.

Getting stronger to survive is my current goal, but I still have no idea what I should do afterworlds.

I mean; after getting a proper human form, should I become some villager and live my life in peace or something?

Let's focus on current task at hand: Getting stronger.

Before long, the winter started for real and it was snowing nonstop for days.

It wasn't anything big, but the forest was now covered in snow and adventures even changed their equipment to fit the weather.

As for me. It felt good!

The weather and the atmosphere itself, it felt good as if I was taking a good old hot bath… Wait… Maybe cold bath?

Anyway, with the winter finally showing itself up, the power of the winter began surging through my body.

I could even destroy the wolf bear with a single hit, without even going all out.

This is nice!

Its time.

I began running straight to the D+ rank danger zone from morning.

(Honestly, I don't have much info about D+ rank zone, expect the fact that its more dangerous than the D rank zone.)

(How strong exactly are monsters with D+ rank?)

The monster quickly stopped as soon as it found a mana source.

(Mana… But this reaction… They are trying to hide.)

(But beside them… What is this? This weird and nasty mana?)

The monster began traveling through the forest, trying to find a source of the mana that was trying to hide as well as unknown mana.

After a while, the monster arrived at the location where the weird mana was located.

(Who the hell is he?)

(He is wearing dark robes and he is digging something? Maybe he is looking for some special materials like healing grass or something?)

(Wait…That thing right next to him…It's the source of that weird mana?)

The man digged up a hole in the ground before the picking up a weird sphere shaped device and putting it inside the hole before then covering it up with the dirt and then using some snow nearby to cover it bit more.

"…"

(This guy… He way too suspicious.)

"?!"

The man looked behind him and before he realized, he was already grabbed by a giant hand and lifted in the air.

"Fuck?! What the hell is this thing?!" – said the hooded man.

"…"

"Speak." – said the monster.

"?!"

"Who the fuck are you and what was that device you buried in the ground."

"?!"

"…"

The man remained in silent.

"…"

The monster cover the man mouth with its thumb before grabbing the man neck.

"?!"

The man began trying to scream in pain before the monster let go of the man leg that was now covered in thorns and ice that were piercing the man flesh.

"…Now. Are you willing to talk now?"

"…"

"?"

(This guy… He is scared like hell, but he isn't speaking?)

(It doesn't look like he is acting brave….)

(I guess I have to crush his leg I already-)

"!?"

Suddenly, the man eyes turned bloody before then he began vomiting blood.

"?!"

"…."

(He is dead?!)

(That… Wasn't my doing.)

(What the fuck just happened?)

(Did he killed himself?)

(He looked as he was about to piss his pants just now, but it didn't looked like a normal death?)

(I smell… I smell something from his mouth?)

(Did by any chance…. He consumed poison or something?)

Monster put the man on the ground before then turning into a little girl and then began searching the man body.

"…"

"As I suspected, this man doesn't carry adventurer license. This guy isn't adventurer."

"…"

Monster turned to the spot where the sphere like object was buried before the digging out the object from the ground.

(Now, what are you?)

(It look mechanical, but also, I can sense magic coming from it.)

(Is something like a mix of both?)

(The question is, what is this thing?)

(This guy is not an adventurer and he even took his own life, even though he was so scared.)

(What the fuck is going on?)

(Why do I feel this is some sort of conspiracy and I accidently ended up stumbling on it by accident?)

(It may seem like a good idea…But… That man seemed in hurry, as if he wanted to hid the device as soon as possible before then running away.)

(Another mana reaction! And I sense same type of mana as this thing?)

(And why the fuck I have a strong feeling I will have to get involved.)

(Looking for adventures right now maybe bad idea, since these guys want to put these things as fast as possible.)

Monster tighten its grasp, crushing the device and destroying it in the process.
